Erran
We were all playing card games in my father's living room when Brian stormed in furious,
“You are pregnant?” Brian’s voice cut across the room cutting through the music my heart stopped as I turned to see him, his arm outstretched, holding something in his hand.
“What?” I asked confused looking around the room confused and back at his face, he was furious.
He threw the pregnancy stick he was holding at me. The small plastic stick hit my shoulder and bounced to the floor as I over bent to pick it up with with trembling fingers, it it had the two lines, it was positive.
“No,” I whispered, already shaking my head. “No, that’s not mine Brian.” I said confidently.
“Oh, save it!” Brian yelled, his eyes had turned red. “You cheated on me! You are standing here, carrying someone else’s child, while planning our wedding? What kind of twisted game are you playing, Erran?”
The room suddenly went silent, everyone's eyes on me, it all still felt like some kind of joke, it had to be.
“I didn’t Brian, I swear I’m a virgin!” I cried, stepping toward him. “You know this and you know I am waiting for our wedding night.”
“You really expect me to believe that?” he spat. “A pregnant virgin? What are you, the Virgin Mary now? I had my doubts, you have been acting so weird lately, the mood swings, the frequent use of the bathroom, the morning sickness” he said, pausing looking at me. He was not lying, I had been experiencing everything he had just mentioned, but that didn't mean I was pregnant. "I decided to taste you just to be sure, I didn't expect it to be positive though." he added.
Laughter exploded behind him. Not amused laughter ugly, mocking laughter. My stepmother Angela scoffed loudly, her arms crossed, while her daughter Amina stood beside her, lips curled in disdain.
“You disgusting little liar,” my father finally cut in and I turned to him in desperation, but his eyes were cold. “You have brought shame to this house. I should have known better than to trust you.” He said, full of anger
“Dad, please, there must be a mistake” I tried to plead with him.
“Don’t call me that!” he roared, walking toward me with fury. “You want to live like a whore? Then you are not my daughter, not anymore, I want you out now”
I flinched as if I had been slapped. He really didn't mean that did he? I looked around waiting for anyone to atleast speak up, take my side, but everyone was avoiding my eyes, whispering among themselves.
“You are getting married in three days, and this is what you do?” Angela hissed. “Disgusting little slut.” my step mother said, she seemed to be enjoying every bit of this.
“I Should have known she wasn’t as perfect as she pretended to be ,” Amina my step sister added smugly.
I dropped to my knees, choking on tears, clutching the test in my hands like I could erase the results if I held it hard enough. “It’s not true,” I gasped. “It’s not true! I didn’t do anything, I haven’t even had sex with anyone”
“You are a disgrace to this family Erran,” my father cut me off. “Pack your things and get out now.”
“Please listen to me, I am telling you the truth, this test must be wrong”
“Out!” he shouted. “No daughter of mine will embarrass me like this. I don’t ever want to see your face again!”
He grabbed my suitcase from the hall and flung it out the front door. My clothes spilled onto the pavement like dirty secrets. Brian turned his back and my heart shattered. It all felt like a nightmare. Any moment I would wake up, and this would all be gone except it was not a dream, it was happening to me in real time.
I was still kneeling begging them in tears when the door slammed shut behind me.
Cold air bit at my skin as I crawled to my clothes, trying to gather them.
My body shook, not just from the cold, but from betrayal, confusion, terror. How could that test be positive? I hadn’t even kissed anyone, not like that. I was a virgin. I was waiting for Brian. We agreed and we were getting married in a few days, why would I mess that up? Nothing made sense anymore.
My hands trembled as I picked up the test again, staring at the two pink lines. There had to be a mistake, a lab error or maybe someone tampered with it.
I heard footsteps and I turned around hoping my dad had changed his mind or maybe Brian had realized he had made a mistake, but it was my step sister Amina.
She stood at the end of the driveway, her arms folded, leaning against the wall like she had all the time in the world. That smug, gleeful look on her face made my blood freeze.
“Why are you smiling?” I whispered, wiping tears from my cheeks.
She stepped closer. “You always thought you were better than everyone, the perfect little virgin bride, daddy’s golden girl, Brian’s dream girl.”
“What are you talking about?” I asked, my voice cracking.
Amina laughed softly. “I can’t believe it actually worked.”
I blinked, confused. “What worked? What are you talking about?”
She tilted her head, eyes glinting with cruel satisfaction. “Remember that pap smear you got a few months ago? You were worried about irregular cycles or something, right? Well guess what? That wasn’t just a pap smear.”
A pit opened in my stomach. “What do you mean? What did you do Amina?”
“Oh, sweetheart,” she said, her face full of smug. “I paid the doctor a few thousand bucks. Told him to inseminate you with donor sperm. Told him you wouldn’t remember anything and you didn’t, I guess sedation really works, I didn't think it will work honestly, but turns out you are really fertile.”
“No,” I breathed, stumbling backward. “No, that’s not legal, no one would, he wouldn’t”
“Oh, but he did sweetie,” she said sweetly. “You should have seen your face just now all that sobbing, begging, saying you are a virgin was beautiful, it was all worth it.”
I shook my head violently, tears flowing freely again. “You are lying, this is a sick game. Why would you do that to me? You wouldn't do that to me, why would you?”
“Because I hate you Erran and how you pretend to be perfect” she said, the smile dropping and her real self coming out. “Ever since you moved into this house, you have been treated like royalty, my mom and I? We are nothing to him but you? You got everything and I’m sick of it.”
“I never did anything to you,” I whispered.
“Exactly,” she snarled. “You didn’t have to. Just being you was enough to screw me over, I never really stood a chance, I don't stand a chance with you around.”
MaxI carried her through the house without saying another word, she had stopped fighting me not because she had accepted what was happening but because she was in shock.I could feel the tension running through her small body, every muscle rigid against mine. Her breathing was uneven, and her fingers were curled tightly against my jacket.I knew I had frightened her but I also knew there was no way around it.She needed to understand that this was no longer a simple human pregnancy, the child she carried belonged to my bloodline, my heir and whether Erran understood it yet or not, her life had changed the moment that child was conceived.I carried her directly upstairs. The hallway was quiet, the only sounds coming from my footsteps against the polished marble floor and her uneven breathing.I pushed open the door to the room I had prepared for her, It was one of the largest guest suites in the house, I wanted her to be comfortable and have access to whatever she needed and enough sp
Erran. Max helped me out of the car and had me settled in my wheelchair as I looked around in total awe. The house was insanely huge and beautiful, floor to ceiling glass windows, marble steps, flickering lanterns embedded into the walls. I had only seen places like this on TV celebrity documentaries and royal tours. It looked like the kind of place a prince lived or a god."This is your home?" I asked out loud"Yes and it will be your home too from now on." "Who are you?" "I am Max Black and that's all you need to know, you will be safe here and have access to whatever you need, your only job is to make sure that child you are carrying is safe." I was about to start wheeling my wheelchair when something moved in my peripheral vision fast but it spooked me and I turned my head slowly, it looked like a dog, but when I looked clearer, my whole body froze. Two huge wolves were racing across the yard, large, sleek, and silent. One grey with piercing silver eyes and the other was pu
Erran"That's no choice really, I should have a choice in this, it's my body too and my baby and I don't even know if I am keeping it." I said, trying to hold back the tears, everything was moving way too fast one moment I was getting ready to marry the love of my life the next I was being thrown out and now I was pregnant and someone I had just made was already threatening me. "My sister is the reason I am in this situation in the first place, she did this to me, I didn't want this, I don't want any of this, I have never even had sex before, this is all crazy." I continued in tears." How sure are you that I am even going to keep the baby, it's still early I could make another choice that won't have me marrying a strange man I just met. ""I am sorry, but you can't do that Erran. This is my only chance of becoming a father, giving my family an heir. "he said it like I was supposed to care about him. "That's not really any of my business, in fact I should be suing for violation, this
Erran. I stood there, in the middle of the driveway, as the world around me spun and twisted. My heart was too heavy, my skin felt foreign, everything I had believed in, my love, my body, my safety was all gone and I still could not understand why. My family had just thrown me out, the only people I had known my whole life, the people who were supposed to protect me. I looked back at the house I had grew up in one last time before I picked up my bag and started walking. I had no money and no idea where I was going, but I needed get out of there, so I started walking aimlessly. I didn't even have a phone, Brian had thrown my phone across the room and broken it. I just walked and walked, tears flowing freely down my cheeks. Everything I had known had all been taken away from me in an instant. I had no idea how long I had walked, until I realized I was on a highway. Cars zoomed past, honking angrily, but I couldn’t hear them clearly. My mind was a looping reel of betrayal: Tim’s fa
