“Who goes there? Show yourself before I give you a reason to regret stepping into these woods!”

Razor’s voice sliced through the heavy fog of the early morning mist like a sharpened blade. He stepped away from the perimeter guard post, his hand resting tightly on the hilt of his silver dagger, his eyes narrowed as he stared into the dense, dark shadows of the pine trees just beyond the southern fence line.

A slow, deliberate rustle of dry leaves answered him. From the gloom emerged a tall, hooded figure wrapped in a thick, travel-worn cloak. The stranger slowly lowered the hood, revealing a pale, striking face with familiar dark eyes and silver-streaked hair that caught the pale morning light. It was a face no one in the Iron Fangs pack expected to ever see again.

“Put down the weapon, Razor,” a soft, weary voice called out, carrying an unmistakable authority that made Razor freeze in mid-step. “I am not here to fight your pack. I am here to see my daughter.”

Razor’s jaw dropped in absolute shock. He blinked twice, staring at the woman standing before him. It was Helena Sinclair—Ava’s mother, the woman the entire supernatural world believed had died in a fiery car crash twenty years ago.

Inside the master suite of the clubhouse, Jax and Ava were standing by the window, watching the grey dawn break over the mountains, discussing their defense strategy against the incoming military battalion. Suddenly, the heavy oak door burst open without warning. Razor rushed into the room, breathing heavily, his expression a wild mix of disbelief and panic.

“Alpha... Luna... you need to come down to the courtyard right now,” Razor stammered, catching his breath. “You won't believe who just walked through our front gates.”

Jax turned, his amber eyes narrowing with immediate suspicion. “If it's another syndicate scout, Razor, feed him to the wolves. We don't have time games.”

“It’s not a scout, Alpha,” Razor whispered, stepping aside. “It’s Helena Sinclair. Ava’s mother.”

Ava gasped, her hands flying to her mouth as her entire body went completely rigid. The name echoed in her head like a shockwave. Her mother. The woman who had written the yellowed letter found in the secret drawer. The woman she had mourned her entire life.

Without a single word, Ava bolted past Razor, running down the wooden hallway and bursting out onto the front steps of the lodge. Her bare feet hit the cold gravel of the courtyard, but she didn't feel the chill. Her wide, tear-filled eyes locked onto the tall, elegant woman standing near the southern gate.

Helena turned around slowly. When her gaze met Ava’s, her breath hitched, and tears immediately welled up in her dark eyes. She dropped her traveling bag and took a hesitant step forward.

“Ava... my sweet little bird,” Helena whispered, her voice breaking with decades of pent-up sorrow and love. “Look how strong you’ve grown.”

“Mom...?” Ava choked out, her voice trembling so violently it barely sounded like her own. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she rushed across the courtyard, throwing herself straight into her mother’s arms.

Helena caught her tightly, burying her face in Ava’s dark hair, holding her daughter as if she were still a fragile child. They stood there in the middle of the misty courtyard, holding onto each other while years of pain, lies, and separation melted away in a flood of emotional tears.

Jax walked slowly out of the lodge, stopping a few paces away. His massive arms were crossed over his broad chest, his amber eyes watching the reunion with a protective, calculating gaze. His wolf was restless, sniffing the air for any hint of deceit, but seeing Ava’s genuine happiness forced him to keep his guard slightly lowered.

After a long moment, Ava pulled back, wiping her wet cheeks with the back of her hand, looking up at her mother with a mixture of overwhelming joy and burning questions. “How is this possible? Everyone said you died in a car crash. Vance Senior told me you were gone!”

Helena’s expression hardened, a cold anger replacing her tears as she glanced around the pack compound. “Vance Senior lied about everything, Ava. He didn't want you to know the truth because our royal bloodline holds the key to unlocking the ancient vault of the Moonlit Dynasty—a vault containing sacred relics and magical grimoires that the human syndicate and the High Council want to control for global domination.”

“We know about the syndicate, Mom,” Jax spoke up, stepping forward and placing a warm, heavy hand on Ava’s shoulder, offering her quiet strength. “They tried to ambush our northern gorge yesterday, and they sent a strike team here last night. They’re sending a full military battalion to wipe us out this morning.”

Helena turned her gaze to Jax, looking him up and down, taking in his towering stature, the raw power rolling off him, and the fierce devotion in his amber eyes. A small, knowing smile touched her lips.

“So you are the Alpha who claimed my daughter's heart,” Helena said softly, nodding in approval. “You have the eyes of a true protector, Jax Kane. But you must understand... the battalion coming for you today is not just a human military force. The syndicate has allied with a rogue faction of ancient werewolf mercenaries wielding silver-infused weaponry designed to break even the strongest pack barrier.”

Ava gripped Jax’s hand tightly, her heart skipping a beat. “Then how can we possibly win against them, Mom? We are outnumbered.”

“We don't just defend ourselves, Ava,” Helena said, stepping closer and pulling a heavy, metallic drive from her cloak pocket, handing it to Razor. “We strike at their command center. This drive contains the encrypted coordinates of the syndicate's main underground facility fifty miles north. If we take out their central mainframe before their battalion reaches our valley, their entire network will collapse.”

Jax took the drive from Razor, a dangerous, thrilling grin spreading across his face. He looked down at Ava, his amber eyes burning with fierce passion. “Well, little bird... it looks like our defensive war just turned into an offensive raid.”

Ava looked up at him, her fear completely vanishing, replaced by the blazing courage of her royal bloodline. She squeezed his hand firmly. “Let’s get ready, Alpha.”

You think a fried computer network and a couple of fancy tricks can save you from the syndicate, Kane? You are completely out of your depth!”The scarred rogue werewolf leading the elite mercenary squad stepped through the smoking ruins of the mainframe room door. His massive frame towered over everyone in the room, clad in heavy black combat gear embedded with silver plates that shimmered ominously under the emergency lights. "If we execute this raid perfectly, we cut the head off the snake before their battalion even crosses our borders.”Razor slammed his fist onto the tactical desk inside the main operations room, pointing sharply at the glowing holographic map projected from Helena’s encrypted drive. Red warning indicators flashed across the screen, marking heavy security grids and automated defense turrets.Jax Kane stood beside the table, his arms crossed over his broad chest, his amber eyes locked onto the glowing display with cold, calculating intensity. Alpha! Come in! Do you copy? The compound is under a second wave of attack!”Razor’s voice burst through the tactical radio headset with frantic urgency, cutting sharply through the lingering noise of the burning wreckage at the northern gorge. Jax Kane stopped dead in his tracks, his glowing amber eyes widening in sudden, chilling realization. The high-pitched electronic pulse echoing from the overturned truck wasn’t a distress beacon—it had been a decoy all along.Beside him, Ava Sinclair dropped her hands as the golden defensive barrier faded away. Her heart skipped a beat, and the color drained completely from her face. “The compound,” she gasped, her voice trembling. “They didn't just want to ambush us here... they sent a strike team straight for our home while we were away.”Jax didn’t hesitate for a single second. “If the shadow syndicate thinks a few hired mercenaries can scare the Iron Fangs, they are about to learn a very painful lesson.”Razor slammed a heavy tactical map onto the central wooden table in the strategy room. The thick paper unfolded with a sharp rustle, revealing detailed satellite blueprints of the entire mountain valley, marked with red crosses where enemy scouts had been spotted earlier that morning. Surrounding the table, several pack captains stood tall and silent, their faces hard and focused.Jax Kane leaned over the map, his massive shoulders tense beneath his black leather vest. His glowing amber eyes scanned the tactical markings with cold, calculated precision. If you step one foot past this ridge, Lord Henderson, you will not leave these woods breathing!”Jax Kane’s voice echoed like a cracking whip across the frost-covered clearing of the western perimeter. His massive shoulders were tense beneath his black leather vest, and his glowing amber eyes pierced through the dark night like twin lanterns of absolute wrath.
