ROSELYN’S POV

The pounding on the door grew louder.

BANG!

BANG!

The entire cottage shook with every blow. Dust drifted from the wooden ceiling while the windows rattled violently. I clutched the crescent-shaped pendant against my chest. It was still warm from the vision, its silver glow pulsing like a heartbeat beneath my trembling fingers.

Outside, the cold voice laughed. “You’ve hidden her long enough, Roland.” My blood froze. They knew his name. Roland stepped in front of me, the ancient silver sword gleaming in his hand. The runes carved into its blade began to glow brighter, filling the room with pale light. “You stay behind me,” he ordered.

“But—”

“No arguments.” His voice was calm, but I could hear the strain beneath it.

“They’re here for me too, aren’t they?” I whispered.

He didn’t answer. Instead, he tightened his grip on the sword. Another powerful crash splintered the front door. Cracks spread across the wood.

“They’re going to break in!” I cried.

“I know.” Roland’s eyes darted toward the back of the cottage.

“There is a hidden path behind the house. If I tell you to run, don’t look back.”

“What about you?”

“I’ll buy you enough time.”

“No! I’m not leaving you.”

His expression softened. “You’ve always been stubborn.” A sad smile crossed his face. “Just like your mother.”

I stared at him. “You knew her… didn’t you?”

Before he could answer, the front door exploded inward. Wooden fragments flew across the room.

Three cloaked figures stepped through the cloud of dust. Each wore a black mask shaped like a snarling wolf. Dark cloaks concealed their bodies, but the murderous aura surrounding them was impossible to ignore. The tallest among them slowly removed his hood. A long scar stretched across his face, disappearing beneath the edge of his mask. His lips curled into a cruel smile.

“So…” He looked directly at me. “The lost child survived after all.”

Roland immediately raised his sword. “You’ll go no farther.”

The man chuckled. “You were once one of the greatest warriors in the Moon Kingdom.”

He tilted his head. “What a shame… Now you’re just an old man protecting a secret that should have died nineteen years ago.”

I stared at Roland in disbelief. A warrior? He had always told me he was nothing more than a healer.

“You should have stayed hidden,”

“I gave my word.” Roland replied quietly. “And tonight… I intend to keep it.”

The scarred man sighed dramatically. “Very well.” He lifted one hand. “Kill him.”

The other two attackers lunged forward. Steel clashed against silver. The cottage erupted into chaos.

Roland moved with incredible speed, nothing like the quiet man who gathered herbs every morning. His sword danced through the air with deadly precision. One attacker rushed from the left. Roland spun and drove his shoulder into the man’s chest before striking his sword aside.

The second attacker came from behind. Without turning, Roland ducked and slashed backward. The glowing blade sliced through the assassin’s cloak, forcing him to retreat with a hiss. My eyes widened. I had never seen anyone move like that. The scarred man laughed. “So the old wolf still has teeth.”

Then… He looked at me. His crimson eyes narrowed.

“There she is.”

“The pendant has accepted her.”

A dark smile spread across his face.

“Excellent.”

He suddenly disappeared.

Before I could even scream, he reappeared directly in front of me. His hand shot toward my throat.

“Roselyn!” Roland roared.

He abandoned his fight and lunged between us. The silver sword met the assassin’s black blade with a deafening clang. A burst of energy exploded through the room. The force hurled me backward. I crashed into the wall, the pendant slipping from beneath my dress. The crystal struck the floor.

The moment it touched the wooden boards—

A brilliant silver light burst from it. The entire cottage trembled. The attackers staggered backward, shielding their eyes. “What is this?” one of them shouted. The pendant rose into the air. Its glow became brighter and brighter until strange silver symbols appeared across the walls.

The scarred man’s confident smile vanished.

“No…” He whispered. “The seal…”

The pendant released another pulse of light. This time… The energy rushed straight into me. Pain tore through my body. I cried out as silver light spread beneath my skin like glowing rivers. My heartbeat thundered in my ears. Then… A voice echoed inside my mind. Soft… Ancient… Feminine.

“My child… The seal is breaking.” My vision blurred.

I barely heard Roland shouting my name. Barely saw the terror on the assassins’ faces. The last thing I heard before darkness claimed me was the scarred man screaming—

“She is awakening!”

  • THE CURSED MOON HEIR   CHAPTER 47: FOOTPRINTS THAT VANISHED

Noah’s POVThose words echoed in my mind long after I and Rowan resumed our journey.“They know you’re here now… they knew even before you arrived.”I don’t know why those words bothered me so much.Perhaps it was the certainty behind them.By sunset, I and Rowan reached an abandoned watchtower overlooking the eastern frontier. The structure had once been an important military post, but time had not been kind to it. Most of the wooden supports had rotted away, and thick vines covered the lower walls. Several sections of the stone tower had collapsed completely.Rowan dismounted and tethered the horses beneath a large tree.I barely noticed as my attention was already fixed on the tower.I climbed the crumbling stone steps carefully, placing one hand against the wall for balance. When I reached the top, I stopped. The view stole my breath.Endless mountains stretched toward the horizon.Beyond them were hidden valleys, ancient forests, and rocky peaks that disappeared into the clouds.

  • THE CURSED MOON HEIR   CHAPTER 46: THE HIDDEN PATH

Roselyn’s POV The broken crystal remained on the council table. Even after everyone had left the room, I couldn’t stop looking at it. The meeting had ended nearly an hour ago, but I remained seated, staring at the small piece of crystal that had caused so much uneasiness. It was strange. Beautiful, even in its broken state. The surface caught the faint light coming through the windows, reflecting pale silver patterns across the wooden table. But there was something else about it. Something that made the pendant beneath my clothes feel unusually warm. I reached beneath my shirt and touched it. The broken crystal looked almost exactly like my pendant. Close enough to fool a stranger but Not close enough to fool Darius. “They’re copying it,” I whispered. Darius stood on the opposite side of the table. He hadn’t said much throughout the meeting. He rarely did when he was thinking deeply about something. Now, he simply nodded. “They’re trying to.” I looked at

  • THE CURSED MOON HEIR   CHAPTER 45: THE SILENT WITNESS

~ Noah’s POV ~The morning mist clung to the forest road as I and Rowan approached Briar’s Crossing. The village was small… Too small to appear on most royal maps, yet Gideon’s last report had mentioned it twice. If the masked hunters had passed through here… Someone must have seen them right? But the question was whether anyone will be willing to talk. The village square was unusually quiet. Merchants packed their stalls in silence. Children disappeared indoors the moment they saw strangers arrived…I and Rowan.Even the blacksmith avoided looking at me.Rowan frowned. “What’s going on? Are they afraid?.”“I don’t think so.” I studied the faces around me for some minutes.“Looks like they’ve been warned.”Close to the road, an elderly woman sat outside a weathered cottage, weaving a basket.Unlike everyone else, she didn’t look away when I approached, so I bowed politely.“Greetings.”She continued weaving, and without looking up, she spoke.“I know who you are.”Rowan stiffened. “Re

Roselyn’s POVThe valley felt different… but nothing great had really changed. The cottages still stood beneath the silver trees. Children still laughed as they chased one another through the fields, but no longer as loudly as before. The waterfall still sang its endless song yet every sound seemed sharper, Every shadow seemed deeper. The past few days, I have come to realize that once you know someone is searching for you… It became impossible to stop looking over your shoulder for safety reasons..I awoke before sunrise, stepped outside my cottage, hoping the cool morning air would quiet my restless thoughts.Instead, I found Darius already waiting for me.He stood with his back towards me, watching the eastern ridge.“I noticed recently that you barely sleep,” I said, with worry visible on my face.“Well… I sleep when I can.” His response was dry.I walked to stand beside him. “Have the scouts returned?”He exhales deeply. “Not yet.”Silence settled between us… then I finally spok

  • THE CURSED MOON HEIR   CHAPTER 43: THE ROAD EAST

Noah’s POVThe palace gates opened before sunrise. A cold wind swept through the courtyard as I adjusted the strap of my sword. For the first time in years… I was leaving the capital without a royal escort.Captain Rowan tightened the saddle on his horse before glancing over.“My prince… are you really certain about this?”I secured the weathered compass Elias had given me inside my satchel.“I’ve never been more certain, Rowan.”“But…” he stammered. “The King won’t be pleased.” He said with a worried expression.“Well… He already knows.”Rowan frowned in surprise. “He approved it?”“No.” A faint smile touched my lips. “He understands the urgency and importance. He also knows the kind of son he has.”***Inside the palace, King Alaric stood on a high balcony overlooking the courtyard below. He watched quietly as Noah prepared his horse. Soon Queen Selene joined him quietly. They both watched for a while.“They’re leaving.”“I know.”Neither spoke for a while. The King watched his son

  • THE CURSED MOON HEIR   CHAPTER 42: THE MAN IN THE BLACK CLOAK

Roselyn’s POVI couldn’t sleep all through the night. The image of the rider standing on the eastern ridge lingered in my mind long after darkness swallowed the mountains. O couldn’t bring myself to tell anyone, especially Darius. The village was already in an unexplainable state, so it would be best if I don’t add to their worries. But… Had someone truly been there? Or had fear begun playing tricks on me that I now imagine things? The pendant rested cold against my chest once more, as if nothing had happened. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that something had changed.Someone had been watching. Before dawn, Whispering Haven was already awake.Hunters slipped silently through the trees, Scouts disappeared into the mountain trails. No one spoke louder than necessary, the valley hadn’t fallen into panic but It had become extremely… alert.I stepped outside my cottage just as Darius emerged from the council hall. He looked as though he hadn’t slept.“You were in there all night.” I aske
