Chapter Thirty Nine

He tried to pull his head away, but I held it with my hands.

"So what's going on between you and her? I heard your mother ask you to mate with her."

"Nothing is going on between me and her. Mother does not mean what she said either. Now sleep," he said, then removed my hand from his head.

"You know I hate it when you go all secretive and won't say anything. Lying is a dealbreaker for me, just so you know. So there better be nothing going on between you too, even though she comes to your house then and you even stocked your library with the books she loves."

He never has a problem with physical closeness, but whenever I try to get in his head, there is a secret that he is not willing to share. I shifted away from him and tried to lay down, giving him my back, but he tried to pull me closer. I slapped his hand away and laid down again.
