Chapter 11

C11:Wrong Mate

Raine fell to the ground with strong force, she tried to stand up but her left ankle was twisted.

Raphael, whose wolf had taken over in rage, could barely have control over his body as he forged ahead, not bothering to look behind.

She managed to stand up, her eyes filled with confusion and pain as she dragged her leg calling out to Raphael despite the sharp sting she felt with each drag.

She halted behind him, her eyes widened as tears stung them, seeing Raphael embracing her own sister, his nose buried deep into her neck.

“Mate,mine”...she could hear Raphael's hoarse voice filled with joy and fulfillment.

Her shoulders slumped watching them, Alice peeked at her from Rapheal shoulder grinned at her victoriously.

After a while she parted her lips, ignoring the searing tear in her heart which barely left her to breath, “Raphael” she called out,her voice barely a murmur.

Raphael turned sharply in anger ready to snarl at the disturbance, his grey eyes fixed on her as he slowly recognized her, his eyes went to her dusty dress.

He realized she was the one he had shoved away and the one in his arms is Alice?.

He looked at Alice as his brows knitted in confusion and anger.

Stepping away from her , he asked coldly “what are you doing here?”.

“I.i.. felt the mate bond, my wolf couldn't resist the pull it dragged me outside, and I met you” Alice explained her cheeks reddened in embarrassment and shyness.

Raphael folds his hand to a fist breaking the fragile box he held preciously, the snapping sound rang in the silence drawing their attention.

Raine looked away, as she wiped her tears, she knew nothing ever went her way, from the moment she could remember down to Alice's presence in her life and now this.

The more she wiped the tears away the more it poured out, she wanted to scream and cry out loud but she had long gotten used to crying silently.

Alpha Elmore came outside with his Luna, they had followed Alice in worry as she had left the banquet in a hurry,

their gaze stopping on them, “what is going on here” he asked furrowing his brows.

“Father..I've found my..mate” Alice answered carefully as she glanced at the rigid Raphael nervously, she desperately wanted to dance around and howl out but her mate’s aura won't let her.

Luna Indira dragged her daughter to the side softly after glaring at Raine, “who do you speak of dear?” her eyes filled with curiosity.

“Raph… Raphael, I didn't know how it happened, I felt the pull and I came out only for my mate to be him” she blabbed not wanting to be suspected as she still felt Rapheal cold gaze on her.

“We have to speak inside,” Alpha Elmore said, his eyes studying them for a moment then he turned and walked back inside.

Some of the guests had come outside seeing that the Alpha and his Luna had left right after their daughter ran out abruptly.

They watched from afar not daring to come closer, murmurs filled the air as they tried to guess what was happening.

Luna Indira held Alice gently reassuring her as they left, not bothering to look at Raine again even though she saw her twisted leg.

Beta Mascot, who was instructed by the alpha to handle the guests, led them back to the hall , steering their focus to the feast while giving excuses of an important private issue they had to iron out.

Outside the mansion the two lovers were left staring at each other or rather Raphael staring at her.

“Raine, I'm sorry.

I didn't mean to shove you away, I didn't mean all of this”

Raphael spoke softly as he slowly reached for her hand.

Raine didn't speak, her eyes cast down, Raphael held her chin raising her face up to face him, those gray eyes looking pleadingly.

“Speak to me love, shout and hit me if necessary, don't shut me out” he spoke, his heart tightened as another round of hot tears slid down her oval face.

Raine didn't speak, she only nodded softly after sometime, wincing as she tried to lift her left leg.

Raphael's heart squeezed at the sight, bending slightly he scooped her into his arms, taking her to the study room.

He placed her gently on the seat and sat beside her while Alice and Indira sat at the other hand.

“Raphael, what are your plans?”Alpha Elmore asked, his brown eyes studying the young man before him.

The room fell silent so that each heartbeat could be heard loudly without interference.

“I love Raine, I won't let her go” he stated plainly as he squeezed her hand.

Alicia looked down as tears fell freely, as the most adored shewolf she has never been rejected directly or indirectly.

“What about me, you know what happens when a werewolf is rejected, ” Alice asked tearfully, biting her lips.

“Raphael, think carefully about this, Alice is only nineteen, she is still too young to go through rejection even an older one cannot bear it.

You know the pain it comes with, it can even kill her, just like how your father died” Luna Indira pressed on hitting his sore spot, the older ones knew of the former beta, he was rejected by his mate after Raphael was born, it made his father weak till he passed on when Raphael was twelve.

Raphael clenched his fist tightly, the image of his dying father flashed back in his memory, his vision darkened for a moment, but then he had someone he already loved and he was sure she would be hurt just like his father was.

“Alpha, I won't change my mind, Alice would find the right man for her.

It wouldn't be me” He spoke sternly, his wolf howling inside not accepting the way he spoke to their mate.

“You can't reject me, I don't mind if you don't love me, just don't abandon me” Alice cried out, her brown eyes reddened as she trembled holding onto her mother's hand.

“I will take my leave now, Alpha.

I hope you approve of my decision”Raphael stated at stood up taking Raine with him.

He took her to her room and laid her down. Taking some ointment from the cupboard he applied it on her left leg.

“Will you be alright, after all she is your mate?” Raine asked softly, her voice low.

Raphael looked up with raised brows, “All I want is you” he stated plainly, as he returned to what he was doing.

Raine felt reassured but deep down she was still worried, the pull of the mate is strong–strong enough to drive him crazy.

After being put to sleep by Rapheal before he left, not wanting to stay in that house another minute before his wolf would act up.

Opening her eyes, her surroundings had changed, she was in a beautiful garden, filled with wild roses and many other flowers, the same garden she had always dreamt of, but this time the figure wasn't there and it wasn't dense.

“St..ay..” she heard the voice again but it wasn't as painful as it was before, she woke up instantly with her hands flying to her face only to feel a soft petal in her hand.
