A Broken Heart

Once he finished, Shiho was very quiet. He rose from his seat and walked off the porch. Everyone knew he wanted to be alone to process everything he had just heard.

Shiho headed down the path that led deep into the forest. His eyes were burning from the tears that were flowing. It had been years since he had cried like this. The last time had been at the death of his best friend Kalvin, who had been murdered while protecting his younger brother from a rival gang. Kalvin was only seventeen, and the two of them were like twins.

He had died in the street. That was the beginning of Shiho’s warpath. He hunted down every one of those gang members and slaughtered them mercilessly. From that time on, he protected those he loved without hesitation. Anyone who hurt those he cared for would die.

Which was why it was hard to tell him what had happened—but since Bella had been abused, there was no holding back.
