Third Person's POV
Craig dropped the dinner invite. "No biggie. Catch up when you're free. Call me anytime," he said, keeping it chill.
"Sure thing. Talk to you later," Kelsey replied, hanging up.
Melissa's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Craig asked you out. Why'd you pass? Don't worry, I won't be a third wheel."
"Melissa, you know I'm divorced," Kelsey said, feeling a bit down.
Besides, she was still carrying her ex-husband's baby.
"Kelsey, Craig's a good guy, and his startup's got potential. You should think about it," Melissa encouraged. "Come on, let's get a mani. There's this new place that's all the rage."
"Nah, I'm good. Lately, the smell of nail polish just bugs me," Kelsey said, trying to change the subject.
They'd barely sat down at the nail salon when a cloud of overpowering perfume hit them.
Kelsey pinched her nose and turned around, spotting a familiar face.
She hadn't expected to run into Mia here.
Third Person's POVBack in the neighborhood, Kelsey finally relaxed once she confirmed Catherine was okay. Then, her brothers surrounded her, giving her another round of stern advice.Catherine was still worried. "The company went bankrupt. Will the renovation still happen?"Digby said confidently, "Don't worry, it will."Kelsey wasn't holding her breath. She knew getting into the relocation was a long shot to begin with.A moment later, a group of people in uniform walked in with a megaphone. "Hello, everyone. We are the new representatives taking over this project, from the GrandVista Real Estate Group. Please line up and sign your documents in order. We won't delay your relocation process!"The residents immediately started lining up.Kelsey was surprised. "GrandVista Real Estate is the one that bought the company!"Digby looked serious. "It's a huge group. You should feel even better about it. Their financial strength is solid."But Kelsey couldn't feel happy.GrandVista was the c
Third Person's POV"So, today's the signing day. Her foster parents already signed the papers."Marcus frowned and stood up. "Get over to that neighborhood now."The assistant looked confused. "Aren't you going back to handle the Mia situation? PR is waiting for your decision.""If I have to handle everything in PR myself, what's the point of me hiring them?"Marcus grabbed his jacket and walked out.The assistant sighed quietly. After all, Alpha Marcus just wanted to go and clear things up with Kelsey, right?Meanwhile, Kelsey hung up the phone and came out of the bedroom, seeing all six of her brothers in the living room. She was surprised. "What are you all doing here?"Digby spoke up. "We said we'd come to back you up, and we're here."After breakfast, the group headed to the old neighborhood.A friendly neighbor saw her and yelled, "Kelsey, your foster parents are here, too! Over there!"Kelsey
Third Person's POVKelsey's voice was ice cold. "I warned you last time. Don't mess with me again!""You're just some peasant from the slums. I can take you out like an ant! How dare you fight back? Just you wait! I'm not letting your family off the hook!"Kelsey laughed coldly. "Okay, go for it. But if you try anything, I have an even better video—and you're not wearing any clothes in it. I'm sure a lot of people would love to see that."The line went silent.Kelsey held her phone, her eyes stone cold. After a long pause, Mia's furious voice came back. "I can't believe how sneaky you are! I asked you a bunch of times if you deleted the video, and you kept it!""Yeah, I kept it. If you guys had treated me with a little respect and not like some maid, I probably wouldn't have kept it. I mean, it's not a pretty video to watch."Mia shrieked. "You bitch, Kelsey!""You forgot how you went crazy, stripped naked, and wer
Third Person's POVOn the other end of the line, Marcus stared at his phone screen—was Kelsey really not going to answer his call? She had been pretty tough in that text just now, hadn't she?He looked at the message, rubbed his temples, and dialed Mia's number. It took a good while before she picked up, her voice trembling with fear, "Marcus, what's up?"Marcus's voice was cold as ice, "Mia, wasn't getting your credit card cut off lesson enough? If it weren't for Mom begging me for hours last time, you would have been taken in for questioning by the police."Mia stammered, "I've been good lately, I haven't done anything.""Do you really think I can't find out? Mia!"Mia was so scared she was shaking all over. "Marcus, it's just that Kelsey's family got lucky with the old neighborhood renovation. But that house wasn't theirs to begin with, it belonged to her adoptive parents. Her adoptive parents taking the house back has
Third Person's POVDigby's fingers lightly tapped the armrest of the sofa, his eyes darkening a bit.He then said to Kelsey, "Don't worry, I've already had someone look into the specifics. Whoever's behind this, I'll deal with it once we find out. They won't be able to mess with you anymore."Inside, Digby was seething with anger. He had personally had dinner with the construction company's boss and specifically mentioned this matter. How could this kind of mistake happen?Soon, Digby's assistant called. He walked to the balcony with his phone, turned his back to the living room, and his face turned dark. "Tell me, who's behind this?"He was determined to find out who was behind it and give them a piece of his mind! The assistant hesitated for a moment before answering, "It has something to do with the Marshmans.""What?"Hearing the words "Marshmans," Digby quickly turned to look at Kelsey in the living room, rai
Kelsey's POV"Stay calm, I'm on my way!" I hung up the phone, grabbed my bag, and headed out.As I walked out of the studio, Craig caught up from behind. "Kelsey, where are you rushing off to?""Got a family emergency," I said, not slowing down."Let me give you a ride," Craig offered, keeping pace. "It's almost quitting time anyway. No worries. We'll get there faster by car."I was genuinely worried about Catherine being alone, so I didn't argue. I just nodded and got into Craig's car.Craig drove steady and fast, and we made it in no time.As soon as we got out of the car, I saw Skye grabbing Catherine's arm, with Wally pointing fingers and making a scene.Catherine's eyes were red with worry.I immediately walked up with a cold face, pushed Skye aside, and said, "Back off! What are you doing?"Skye stumbled from the push, then straightened up and sneered, "Kelsey, let me tell you something. I've already signed
