I was walking down the hallway heading to the forest when I was suddenly given a hard shove that almost sent me to the ground if I hadn't held myself.

“What the…” I turned to see an angry looking Adriana and I almost laughed.

"When will you learn that I am not interested in seeing your fucking face, yet you keep appearing in front of me?” I said as I folded my hands, shooting her a glare.

“You think you've won? You think Xander is going to look at you any differently? Lemme tell you something bitch, to him you'll forever be the daughter of the traitor, the daughter of the bitch who killed his parents, you and your bitch…” I couldn't control myself when my hand landed on her face with a hard slap.

"Talk about my mother like that one more time and I'll do more than just slapping you!” I spat in anger as I looked her square in the eyes, her anger matching mine.

“What? Did I strike a nerve?! You can't handle the truth? The truth that you carry bad blood, that you're nothing but a pa

The scent of lemon polish lingered in the air. It had been hours since I’d ordered the staff to begin their task, and they still moved like terrified ants around the house, scrubbing, fluffing, and perfecting every inch of my home. My home. Our home. The bedroom had been stripped and redone twice already. The sheets, now black silk, were smooth and cool to the touch. The curtains were replaced with something softer, something darker—velvet, maybe. I didn’t care. I just wanted everything to be perfect. No… immaculate. Not a single flaw. Because I was bringing her here. My queen. Raven. My lips curled into a dark grin at the thought. I stalked the perimeter of the bedroom, running my fingers along the polished furniture. "More candles," I barked to one of the maids standing near the door. She jumped and scurried away. Good. Fear made them move faster. I stood in the center of the room, inhaling deeply. I could already imagine her scent mixing with mine in this space. Her voice

For a moment I didn't speak as her words fully registered in my head. And then I laughed. I threw my head back and laughed darkly before I stopped as my cold eyes stared straight into her eyes. “Get out of my office Adriana," I said calmly, too calm. The type of calm before the storm. "I need you to explain to…" “Get out! Get the fuck out of my office!" I snapped and she shook in fear, not expecting me to raise my voice at her. “Don't test my patience Adriana, fuck off!" She didn't need to be told twice she turned away from me with hurt and stormed out of my office. Love? The thought of it was hilarious. I could barely stand that woman and suddenly Adriana thinks I might have fallen in love with Raven just because she didn't have a chance with me anymore. I laughed again. A dark hollow sound. Falling in love with Raven is like breaking a vow I made to myself. Love? No. I can never fall in love with her. I will never fall in love with her. Never. ***** “Wake up Raven, it'

“What do you mean?" I asked as I quickly collected the book from him and flipped through it.“I've searched through it and there's no such name as Laura Roman," I paused as my eyes met his and my brows furrowed in confusion.“What the fuck is happening?" I whispered as I ran my fingers through my hair, my eyes not leaving the books on my table. Both of them looked exactly the same but some things that were in the one Raven found weren't in the one that had been with me all along."Do you…do think someone messed with it?" Matteo asked, I couldn't answer but I was as confused as he was. What lies have I been told? I didn't know what was true or not anymore. What if I've been made to believe what was a complete lie?“Even if someone did mess with it, who could it be?" I asked as my eyes finally lifted off the books to meet his.“And why?...Why would anyone want to mess with The Book of Alphas?" "Perhaps there's a secret someone was trying to hide, a name someone wanted to desperately w

For a long moment Xander didn't speak like he was trying to take in what I just told him. His eyes studied me as he furrowed his brows in confusion.“What Book of Alphas?" He asked and I turned, my eyes landing on the book resting on the shelf I kept it.“The Book of Alphas containing history and stuff of Alphas and their packs," I said and Xander shook his head, making me confused.“There's only one Book of Alphas and it's in my office," I stilled as my eyes slowly went to the book and then back to Xander.I didn't bother explaining further, I quickly rushed to the shelf and pulled out the book as I handed it to Xander.“This is the Book of Alphas I found here.” I said and Xander just continued to stare at the book in his hand like he was in a trance. He didn't open it and I stood there looking at him wondering what was going on.“Xander, what is it?" I asked in curiosity. He turned away from me like he wanted to walk away but my hand quickly shot out and stopped him.“No! I need ans

Her name. Why would her name be in The Book of Alphas? My eyes went to the book on the floor as my heart pounded violently in my chest. Something just wasn't adding up. Nothing made sense to me and I felt an overwhelming sense of confusion. Laura Roman. My mother's name. My mother's name was in The Book of Alphas. How? She was an omega from what I remember. Then how come her name is in one of the most powerful political books in this kingdom. Could this be another Laura? Maybe I was mixing things up. But— It was rare for a woman's name to be mentioned as an Alpha. Then how come my mother's name is mentioned in this book? Could this be a coincidence and this was another female? No. I shook my head. This is too much of a coincidence. Same name. With everything that has happened, I'm sure the Laura in this book belongs to my mother. The twist of fate was enough proof. But why would my mother be ranked an omega but her name appeared in The Book of Alphas. My head was beginning

The stillness in the room was deafening as I stepped deeper into the hidden chamber. The dim light from the moon barely illuminated the dark space, casting shadows that seemed to whisper secrets of their own. My heart pounded in my chest, but my curiosity—raw, desperate—was stronger. The air felt thick, heavy, with the weight of the unknown pressing down on me. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had just stumbled upon something forbidden. The bookshelf had opened with an unsettling creak, revealing a passage I never knew existed. This was no ordinary room, no simple place to store trinkets and treasures. This was a space meant to be hidden, buried deep within the bowels of the palace—a room that had been kept secret for a reason. And I, for reasons I couldn’t yet explain, felt compelled to explore it. My fingers trembled slightly as they grazed the edge of a door, the cold metal of the handle biting into my palm. I pushed it open with a quiet groan, the air inside feeling colder,

The silence in my office was suffocating. Raven’s voice kept echoing. Her words weren’t loud—but they carried weight, heavier than anything I’d ever known. What if everything I believed was a lie? I slammed my fist against the wall, the pain grounding me for a moment. But even that couldn’t drown out the doubt. Could she be telling the truth? I hated this feeling. The uncertainty. The instability. The possibility that I had misjudged the very foundation of my pain—my family’s death. That I had condemned her mother when maybe she was just a victim too. But how could I believe her? How could I even allow myself to entertain the idea? No. No. She was found with the bottle. She was scared. She was crying. I saw it all myself. But… people cry when they’re scared, not always because they’re guilty. I dragged my hands down my face, a frustrated growl escaping my throat. Damn it, Raven. What are you doing to me? I paced to the window and stared into the forest beyond. It was quiet,

I stood in front of the mirror as I ran the brush through my hair. Dario has been gone for a while and hasn't returned. Is everything alright? What if he has gone to do something to cover my crime? I was still lost in my thoughts when I heard the sound of the bedroom door opening and quickly turned. “Dario, you're back, how did it go? Did you…” I caught myself right on time when he came into view. But the only problem was that the person standing in front of me wasn't Dario. I knew it immediately from the color of his eyes—the look in his eyes, the change of energy. No. This isn't Dario but Xander. “It's you," I said and for a moment he just stared at me without speaking and we both engaged in a staring contest like we were waiting for who would break contact first. "What the fuck are you doing here?" Xander finally spoke, breaking the silence. “What does it look like I'm doing? I live here, this is my room," I said and Xander's eyes narrowed at me. "What do you mean by this i
