登入Chapter 4
Draven's pov
This can't be real. Is she messing with us?
Her lips rolled into a smile yet it was disconnected from her eyes that were icy enough to send chills down my spine.
I released her, but didn't back away.
"Is this because of your room? Are you throwing a tantrum just for that?"
Of course that's all it was. This is Vivian I'm talking about here.
Ever since we were kids she has been infatuated with me.
All I ever need to do is ask her to jump and her only response is to whip her head at me excitedly and ask, "how high?"
Only last night, we had been looking at the starlit sky together, fingers intertwined, then she made my heart skip a beat when she said that she wanted to get off birth control.
" We're going to win the war soon, isn't it about time we start planning for the kids?"
My mood had immediately soured. Kids? That was too much of a hassle for now.
But I couldn't just tell her that I didn't want to have kids because of that, instead I gave her the silent treatment first until she was practically begging me to say just a single word to her then I made up some poetic speech about needing more time.
At the end of it she assured me that we were going to definitely win the war.
It had only been a few months back since she started speaking in affirmative like that.
Back then every other day was a speech about surrender, but one day she woke up grinded her gears and joined the war. I didn't expect much to come out of it but suddenly things started to go in our favor. We went from barely hanging on to having the advantage thanks to her.
Not like I would ever fully acknowledge her efforts in her face anyways.
I always took the opportunity to devalue them, make her self-conscious so she would never hope for anything better.
Now what was this nonsense about cutting ties?
"I'm not throwing a tantrum,"she said in a voice that was disturbingly calm, "now that the biological daughter is here there is no need for me to be anymore."
"Vivian what are you even saying? What about us?"
Those eyes that normally only glistened with adoration suddenly held nothing when they looked at me.
"What about us?"she asked back as if it was an insane question to even bring up in the first place, "we're done too,"
A curdle of anger formed within me, I was about to snap at her when Vlad grabbed me by the arm and dragged me towards the kitchen.
"Say yes." He told me, "Can't you see this is a golden opportunity?"
My eyes bulged towards my beta, a man that had gathered years ahead of me but apparently not wisdom.
Vivian was like a good luck charm in the battlefield. We never lost any fight as long as she was there. And now he was willing to let such an asset just walk away?
He saw the disapproval written all over my face but pressed on, this time going straight for a weakness of mine.
"Draven I saw the eyes you were making at Sarafine, don't stand there and pretend like you don't want this even a little bit,"
His words made me feel like I had been stripped naked,
Honestly I've not been able to get my eyes off her from the moment I saw her, she was more beautiful than any other woman I had ever laid eyes on.
The type of soft, immaculate beauty that Vivian could not even scratch. I mean it's not like she was bad to look at, but she didn't take extra efforts to make herself look feminine. She dressed way too comfortably all the time. I mean it wouldn't kill her to just put on a little bit of makeup, dress up or something.
I knew this was wartime but still, she should be more concerned about how she looks in my eyes and right now Sarafine was the only image I saw when I closed them.
"Okay I'll admit it, she looks like she was blessed with beauty from the Moon goddess. But I don't want to let Vivian go forever." I admitted.
"You're quite greedy, aren't you?" Vlad said with intention to tease, but I glared at him despite our age gap. I was still the Alpha and he had to respect me.
"Look at it like this, Vivian is simply throwing a tantrum like you said earlier. There is no way she's going to survive on her own. Especially since we're still at war, why don't we get a couple of people to tail her then when she's tired of making a scene she'll come back more humble and accepting, I'll be able to establish Sarafine and her position here in the park and both of you will be able to have a relationship without anyone turning their noses down at it, "
I listened to what the old man was saying and decided that all the years behind him were not actually wasted.
We returned back to the living room where Vivian was waiting, legs crossed on the couch, that same plastic smile traveling from one side of her face to the other.
"Are both of you done yet?" She said hints of passive aggressiveness laced in her voice.
"Where will you go after cutting ties with us?" I asked more out of curiosity than anything else.
"That's my problem to worry about, not yours," she shot back at me and I felt my anger pile up.
She was being so cocky, acting full of herself but I knew her. I had known her ever since we were little. She could not live without me even if she pretended otherwise.
"Fine, but don't come running back when you realize how big and scary the world is," I told her even though I was counting on exactly that, "I Draven Voss of the Voss pack, sever all pack ties with you Vivian.”
Chapter 13Vivian's POVBoth Lucien and Jacob had been angry when they saw me, but none of it could compare to the look that their brother was giving to me right now. It was something that was so saturated in pure hatred that logic had no place within it. There was no way I could reason with him. I had been in the battlefield long enough through the bloodshed that I could recognize it from a mile away, and it was painted across his eyes so familiarly. I would have to be a fool to miss it or be completely blind."Didn't you hear me?" he roared at the guard behind him, who had begun to tremble with his fingers nervously."Prince Gabriel, I can't give you the keys."I could see all of the veins popping from the side of his head as he turned. "What do you mean you can't give me the keys? That is an order!""But Prince Lucien said that…"He marched over to the guard. "You know I don't like to repeat myself, so it's either you find the keys for me or face the consequences when I'll have to
Chapter 12Gabriel's POV"When Jacob finally survives this, I'm going to kill him," I said with a bitter growl. Staring at his unconscious form dripping with sweat and pain, the last healer had stepped out of the room, stating that they had done all they could and his body's natural healing system was supposed to kick in. If only they knew that we had taken instructions from a werewolf and that of what we were banking to truly heal our brother, the Royal bloodline would never recover from the humiliation."Go easy on him," Lucien said, sitting cross-legged facing the youngest of us three. "He’s still growing, still learning. We can't expect him to make the best decisions all the time, can we?""We're barely that far apart in age," I reminded him. "...And both of us were at his age once. Neither of us were so irresponsible and dumb.""That's because we didn't have anyone to support us if we were either of those things, but Jacob has it. Shouldn't we take that as a golden lining?"I s
Chapter 11Vivian’s POV"What do you mean by antidote? Do you mean he has been poisoned? How? When?"I held up my hand, making sure that I didn’t touch the silver bars in order not to burn my flesh. All of that doesn’t matter right now, the most important thing is saving his life. What is going through his system is actually a newly concocted poison that is supposed to be strong enough to take down an elephant or, in this case, a Lycan Alpha. He looked at me, his eyes laced deep with suspicion, then he backed away, shaking his head. "I can’t believe I almost let you deceive me. Did you think that you would be able to sneak out of here if I allowed you to make the antidote?""You won’t need me to come out of here," I responded to him. "I can give the instructions from inside here, if that’s what you’re worried about."He raised an eyebrow. "The instructions? You intend to command me and my people? A forsaken werewolf Luna? Do you even hear yourself right now? Perhaps you have really lo
Chapter 10Lucien’s POVThree days, that’s how long our youngest has been gone. I had told him repeatedly to abort the solo mission that he wanted to embark on. Yes, the info he had gotten us the first two times was valuable, but not enough to trade into werewolf territory the third time, especially since the world was curling itself around our necks like an invisible rope and choking us all. No matter what, we had to maintain morale, and one of us getting captured was not going to be an amazing morale boost for our warriors. But Jacob wasn’t going to be Jacob if he wasn’t the stubborn hothead he was. He had managed to snitch his way past the guards I set to watch him, and along with him, our reserve of scent cloakers.Gabriel was still on the battlefield, trying to maintain one of our borders. When he returned back to hear Jacob was gone, in seconds there was a hole the shape of his fist on the wall. He wanted to hold an all-out search, but that would be the same thing as us holding
Chapter 9Vivian's POV"Lady Vivian!" My name, attached to a title I could no longer claim anymore, rang out again in the darkness. I looked up to the person that said it.She was an orphan that I personally picked myself and chose her for this important mission that changed her life forever, putting her in great favor with the Voss alpha family. And in those days when I rotted away in that cell, she had not come to see me, not even once. She abandoned me just like everyone else. And for that, I had no regret for what I was about to do. Or, more precisely, what I had already done. There were three of them, and I had put a dagger through the neck of one of the men that was holding Jacob. He choked and instinctively let go, his hands scrambling to pull out the dagger. The other warrior looked at me with alarm, he was also personally chosen. Also another betrayer to be rid of.The woman, Stacy, I think was her name, looked genuinely hurt. If only she knew what she did, or rather didn't d
Chapter 8Jacob's POV"Stay put, Jacob. I smell trouble with this plan of yours. The tides of war might be against us right now, but that doesn't mean we should be taking foolish risks," the voice of my oldest brother, Lucien, rings through my mind as I run through the night in my wolf form, moving half a mile away from the motel to the abandoned gas station. All within werewolf territory.I could feel my scent and aura leaking lightly through the cracks of the scent cloaker, those stuff were hard to get your hands on, even as a royal. But I got them, and I came here. Why? Because I had to prove myself.Lucien was the great strategist and Gabriel the tank that scorched earth when he needed to. And me? Well, I was the mess, the one they were always covering for. Lately, all I've been able to do is stand by the sidelines as everything was crumbling, all as my brothers and I were being pushed further into the corner. The Viper's face crosses my mind.Seeing her face-to-face like that fil
Chapter 7 Vivian's POV I had said it as a mild joke to cut through the butter thick tension in the air but he looked at me as if I suggested harvesting each of his organs, discussing lining up his pictures, scrunching them but not stealing any of the rugged handsomeness that edged them. "Clearl
Chapter 6Jacob's pov Dammit, my brothers are going to kill me.That is…if I don't die right now perhaps.I pushed my bodyweight against the rickety door, buying time. For what? I'm not quite sure."Just let me help you," the viper said, her voice a desperate whisper shout, I laid my eyes on her t

Chapter 1 Vivian POV "I have never been able to forget the first time I died. Who starts saying that my time will come again so soon?"The entire hole which just a moment ago had been overcome with murmuring fell dead silent. "Have you finally lost your mind?"
