“Kasper is here, are you going somewhere with him tonight?” Mom was smiling beside the door of my room. I was trying to pick out a dress from the wardrobe, there was nothing I could pick from there. I sat back on the bed, and picked up my phone.

“Are you going to keep him waiting?”

“I’m just going to tell him that I can’t go, I won’t be there tonight.”

“It’s Friday night. You should’ve fun.” Her smile widened and she took another step into the room. I shook my head disapprovingly.

“He’s a good kid. He’s nice, charming, and sweet.”

I hummed.

She was right.

Kasper would do anything that I asked him to. He knew I was using him, but he didn’t say a word. He knew there wasn’t any bond between us and he wasn’t speaking about it.

He couldn’t feel it nor could I.

The bond was for someone else, someone who scares me.

“What are you thinking about honey?” She asked, as she stepped closer to me, and then sat on the bed. Her hand went to my knees.

“Nothing.”

“You’ve been talking less, you don’t smile either. I know everything is too much and I’m trying my best to bring that smile back on your face. Why didn’t you tell me…” She blinked her eyes, looked away from me, and said nothing.

“What are you saying, Mom?”

“Nothing honey, just to have fun tonight.” She smiled, her eyes were getting cloudy with tears.

“Don’t be too hard on your mama.” She muttered, and I scooted closer to her on the bed and wrapped my hands around her. “Only you knew what I went through Eris. You knew how hard it was for us to get there.”

Her head rested on my shoulders. “I love you honey, and I will do anything to protect you.” She pulled away from the warm embrace and placed a kiss on my forehead.

“You should get dressed.” She stood up from the bed. “Kasper is waiting, he will be good to you.”

“I know Mom.”

“He's a perfect gentleman, isn’t he the type you always wanted?” She smiled through tears and wiped them quickly away from her eyes. “Go have fun.”

I nodded, and stood up from the bed, I went back to my wardrobe and started to pick up the dress. I decided to take a pair of jeans, a crop top, and some sneakers. I brushed my hair and packed it in a messy bun.

Kasper was still waiting outside, and it had been over an hour.

I opened the door and walked out of my room.

“Hey, Eris.”

Alpha West.

“Your mom said you’re out with Kasper tonight?”

“He got invited to a party, and he wanted me to go along with him,” I said with a slight shrug.

“Have fun, and don’t stay out too late.” He responded with a smile. “And have you heard from Ocean, he hasn’t picked up his calls for over an hour.”

“No idea,” I mumbled.

“I’ll be back before 10.”

I strolled out of the hallway and jogged down the stairs. Kasper was outside, he was seated on his motorcycle, his eyes lit up when he saw me. He smiled brightly and I was tempted to smile too.

“You look pretty, Eris. I mean you always do but tonight you look pretty.” He was stuttering, I chuckled softly, and took the helmet from his hand since he couldn’t move from where he stood.

“Sorry, I..here.” His hand touched mine briefly, and he took his lips in, and dropped his hands restlessly to his side.

“Thanks for coming.”

“You came when I invited you.”

“I like you, Eris. A lot. You don’t have to say anything, I’m doing all of these because that’s what I feel about you.”

“Even if we ain’t mates?”

“Who cares….” he chuckled nervously.

“Nobody has to know, they think we are and that should be, right?”

“Right.” I smiled while he smiled so hard, that his cheek was tinged red.

He looked wasn’t too dressed in his black pants, navy blue sleeves, and black loafers. He walked up to me, and placed the helmet on my head, and he kissed the top of the helmet.

He moved back to the motorcycle and got on it. He adjusted himself, and I sat behind him, my hands went around his waist and locked it around him.

We got to the house. It was a mansion, I asked if he knew who lived here, and Kasper said that it was Nathan’s house. He lived here with his parents who were always on business trips.

There was a pool at the back of the house, and that’s where most of them were, most of them were from school, and some I didn’t know of.

Kasper held his guitar, while he looked around for Nathan.

I didn’t know when my eyes caught him, a blonde girl was seated on his lap, she wore a bikinis, and her chest was against his as he kissed her. I saw his fingers move in and out of the red bikinis she wore, fingering her pussy, and she moaned against his lips.

His gray eyes met mine, and he stared at me while he fingered her.

Kasper’s hand brushes mine, and that’s why I turned away from him.

“I didn’t know he would be here.” He muttered, I knew he was talking about Ocean. “..though I suspected it. I should’ve told you.”

I shook my head. “I came here for you, you don’t have to worry about Ocean.”

I was actually worried about him, I could see Ocean’s friends everywhere, Ronny was in the pool, Noah was flirting behind the drinks, and Flynn was with Nathan. According to Kasper’s description, I knew he was the one.

He waved at us, or Kasper, and a fake smile came across his face.

“Over here, guitar boy.” Nathan waved at Kasper.

“Do you want to wait here or come with me? Do you want me to get you some drinks?”

I held Kasper back, and he stared at me. “Let him come.”

“I don’t want to get in trouble and I don’t want them to come for you too.”

“They won’t.”

He looked rather anxious at my words, he hesitated before he stayed back, but he kept tapping his feet on the ground and biting his nails.

Nathan came over to us with Flynn, he was holding a drink. He stretched out one to me. “Ocean, sissy.”

I glared at him. “I guess you don’t drink. We were in the house the night of Ocean’s birthday party, I saw you that night.”

I took the cup of whatever that was in it from his hand. “What made you think I don’t drink?”

“You wanna prove me wrong?” Nathan asked with his switching accent.

I huffed. “You ain't worth it.” I poured the drink on his feet.

He chuckled. “Ocean is right, you’re just my type.”

Kasper stepped in front of me when he said that. “You wanted me, I’m here.”

Flynn said nothing, he just studied me, his gaze was creepy. “Don’t get messy with you, Ocean don’t like it.” He said quietly to Nathan and tapped his shoulder, Nathan backed away from me and smiled at Kasper.

“Glad you came out tonight, guitar boy, it’s going to be fun, we are waiting for your music.” Nathan placed his hand around Kasper’s shoulder.

I didn’t have a good feeling about this but I couldn’t stop it.

Ocean made eye contact with me again, and he smiled slowly even when his lips were still entangled with another girl. My chest pricked, my hand curled into a fist at my side.

“Here…” Flynn offered another drink.

“I think you need this.”

I stared at the drink in his hand. “It’s juice. Trust me.”

I took it from his hand, and brought it to my lips, I caught him staring at him, he was watching me drink from it.

Before I took a sip, someone took it from my hand and drank it in one gulp.

“It wasn't poisoned, Ocean.” Flynn scoffed and folded his arms. “I was trying to be nice.”

“Don’t.” He tossed the cup aside and turned to me. He was shirtless with just his shorts on. “Why did you come? I thought this wasn’t your thing.”

“I thought you wanted me to come, maybe see you with your fling.”

“You weren’t supposed to see that.”

“No, you wanted me to see it. I saw the look in your eyes, you enjoyed doing that.”

He smirked and tilted my head upwards. “Maybe I did.”

“Asshole.” I spat.

He chuckled, and I pushed him off slightly, creating some distance between us but instead he lowered himself to my height. “But I know what I want.” I rolled my eyes at him, and moved away when I noticed we were getting everyone’s attention.

“Kasper is here everyone, he’s something to show us!” Nathan announced, and our stares went back to Kasper.

Ocean snorted, and strolled out. I stood there, staring at Kasper, he was given a seat in front where everyone could see him. He held his guitar in his hand, he looked nervous.

He was trying to ignore the tittering around.

He started playing the strings on the guitar, and it came out quite well.

He started to sing and before the first words came out something poured on him, a spoiled paint.

Laughter erupted in the air, they threw things at him, whatever they were eating, and even the colored drinks.

I gasped, and took a step forward. I wanted to go to him and take him out of there, it was as if he was stuck on the seat he was in, and I knew exactly how it felt.

I hastened to get to him, shoved past through the crowd, but somehow someone pushed me into the pool.

I landed in the pool with a loud thud.

“Eris!”

  • The Alpha Stepbrother’s Temptation    A dead past

The pillow was a bit hard, and it got my neck hurting slightly. I rubbed my eyes, and opened them. My lips parted but no words came out. I stared blankly at his bare chest, his arm on which I had rested my head, and his shirt on me. I glanced around the room quickly, It was my room, and not his, and why did he stay?Did he stay the whole night with me? Why would he do that?“Eris, are you awake? I brought you some morning vitamins, West is planning to take out on a tour around the pack. Sounds fun right, We can go somewhere to cool our heads off, and you know, it sounds exciting…” Mom was blabbing outside my door and knocked. In the next minute, she would be in the room with me and she can’t find him in my room. “Hey, Ocean?” I shook him but he groaned and turned the other way. “Get up and get out, my mom is outside!” I hit his arm, and he moaned in his sleep, with his head face down on the bed. Fuck. I had to do something. I took off his shirt, tossed it under the bed, jumped d

  • The Alpha Stepbrother’s Temptation    The past and the present

*8 years old Eris.*When I heard the front door open, I ran out of the small living room, the half legged centered table, the broken chairs, cracked TV and a slow rolling fan, making a noisy sound with each turn. Or was it the clock on the wall, ticking as if it was counting our lives. I hurried to my room and bolted the door from the inside, leaning against it, panting slowly. Dad was back home. “Where is she?!” His voice was loud, frightening, he never once spoke in a calm tone. “Eris! Where is your mama?” I placed a hand over my mouth, covering it so he wouldn’t hear a sound. “I know you’re in there, where has your mama gone?” The sound of his boot cracked against the wooden floor, the sound came louder when he was close to my door. The banging came, and I jolted at the sound. It was hard and rough. “Eris!” “Open the fucking door and tell me where she is!” He screamed and hit the door again. Both hands clasped over my mouth as I muffled the sound that came out, Don’t tel

  • The Alpha Stepbrother’s Temptation    An invitation

I could see the anxious look on his face when I placed my books on the locker and closed it. He leaned against the wall beside it with his guitar around his neck blatantly ignoring him. He cleared his throat and muttered“… Are you coming to the party?” I adjusted my backpack. “Your mom seems to like me. She’s cool.” I shrugged and walked down the hallway, and he followed closely. “I was asking if you were coming to the party, and it’s fun, games, and all.” “I don’t think you are into such stuff,” I replied, he chuckled softly. “They asked me to sing a song, I have never been invited out before, this is the first and you told me to go for it. So I wanted to give it a try, and present it in front of everyone.” I nodded and tucked my hands into my hoodie pocket. “Are you coming? It kinda feels weird going alone and you introduce me to your parents as your mate. I thought I should act as one. I’m nervous and don’t know what to do to make you happy and safe around me. I want you to

  • The Alpha Stepbrother’s Temptation    Plain rejection

“…you didn’t have to come.” I said while I held the front door against Kasper, he was in black jeans and a blue sleeve, and a black sneakers. He looked a bit nervous with those tiny beads of perspiration forming against his forehead. “I had to, your mom invited me, and I wanted to make a good first impression on her.” He tried to smile, his lips were quivering, I folded my arms and watched him. “Are you sure you’ll be fine?” He cleared his throat. “I can manage.” He took in a deep breath, and let it out slowly. “That kinda helped.” He chuckled and nodded at me. I moved away so he could get into the house, and he walked in. “This is my first time in the Alpha’s mansion or getting this close to Ocean.” I heard him mumble while I led him to the dining area, and he followed closely. “This is Kasper.” I introduced him to everyone when I faced them. Mom stopped up from her seat and went to hug him, her hand patted his back sweetly. “You are always welcome here, Kasper.” She muttered

  • The Alpha Stepbrother’s Temptation    No mate yet

The kiss was brief, with my lips just touching his, and then I pulled away from Kasper. I tilted my head to the side directly at the point that he stood. He remained there, his eyes looking distant, there were no words, and no reaction from him. He turned and strolled out. No words. Nothing. I stared at Kasper, his eyes were wide open at me, I knew that he needed explanation for what just happened but I wasn’t ready to explain all of that to him that night. As long as he got the message, there was no way, I would be stuck as his mate. “Eris…I.” “Not tonight, Kas. Let’s do this some other time.” I jogged out, I didn’t go back to the mating ritual, I didn’t want to be seen with anyone. I went back to the car, and sunk into the backseat, placed my headset on, I wanted to be anywhere except here, and the look on Ocean’s face when he saw me, the moment we stood there, staring into each other. Our wolves felt the connection, the bond was there, she was yapping at him, a
