Chapter 2: High School Classmates.

A week later, instead of letting me find a job, Mom decided to postpone that. We are now on the way to move to the mansion of Stevens. All of these were still surprising and were new to me. I can’t believe that we were moving in over a hundred kilometers away from our previous house! I don’t know why my Mom was so brave to enter into this kind of relationship!

“Why do you look so nervous, Munchkin?” Mom asked.

I returned my attention to her. “Mom, who wouldn’t be nervous? What if we’re moving into a murderer’s house?”

Mom scoffed. “Murderer’s house?”

“Yes! Look at how big they were! I’m scared of what might happen. What if we didn’t get along with them? They can easily abuse us!”

But instead of getting scared, Mom just laughed at me. “Oh my sweetheart, you’re overly thinking. Don’t worry, they are not like that.”

As soon as the car parked in front of the mansion, all of my worries faded away as I was amazed by how huge it was. I came from a noble family and we had a mansion too, from before. But this was different. It was bigger, almost like a palace.

A butler opened the door of the car for us and then helped my Mom get out, then me. My eyes roamed around outside the mansion. There’s a big garden in front, an infinite swimming pool and a huge garage.

“Good afternoon, Miss and Mrs. Stevens! I am Owen, the Butler of this house.”

“And I am Sharlene, this is my daughter, Ginny,” Mom replied.

“Yes, Lady Sharlene, My Lord already told me. Anyway, this way, please…” Butler Owen said.

“Thank you,” Mom smiled.

I was still looking around and familiarizing the place. While Butler Owen kept on walking, we followed him. When the outside was huge, it was much bigger inside. Butler Owen toured us in each room.

The furniture looked vintage and elegant. I haven’t seen anything like this before. The rooms have the same designs, like a King, and Queen, Prince and Princess have lived here before. The kitchen was huge, there’s library, tea room and even a play room! Even my bedroom was bigger than my bedroom in our previous house.

“I was like a Princess now,” I said while looking around my bedroom.

“I told you, he’s very generous,” Mom replied proudly.

But I’m still not that convinced. Of course, we need to live with them for months before we see their true colors! That’s what I’m thinking right now.

“Lord Fernando was already waiting for you in the living room. He wants to introduce their family to you properly,” Butler Owen said.

“Alright!”

Mom seemed to be excited to see her husband. Right after they announced that they were getting married, they really got married the next day. It was all sudden. The marriage was simple, just like what they wanted. Only closed families are invited.

Right when we arrived at the living room, which was about five to eight minutes walk from my bedroom on the second floor, we saw them sitting on the sofa.

Fernando stood up as well as the triplets. I still can’t believe that I will be having step brothers despite my age. I thought I would live with my Mom alone, forever!

“It’s a pleasure to have you in my mansion, finally!” Fernando said, smiling. “I want to introduce myself properly. Not just for you, My Love, but of course, to my now daughter.”

“We will introduce ourselves too,” Mom giggled.

“But we will first!” he replied.

God, they seemed like teenagers! I can see how happy my Mom was. And I can’t wipe off that smile from her.

“I am Fernando Stevens, a retired navy officer. And these are my triplets. Caled, Spencer and Drake are all navy officers.”

Like their father, the triplets were all tall, sturdy, and muscular! Which made me so uncomfortable around them. I’m an only child and my father wasn’t around me the whole time even when he was still alive. That’s why I’m not used to being around males. Especially now that they were all looking like that!

“I am Caled Stevens, the eldest among them,” Caled said. Among these triplets, he looked more serious and cold. Maybe that’s because he's the eldest.

“I’m Spencer Stevens, the middle child and the most handsome among them!” Then he winked. He looks like a playboy!

“And I am Drake Stevens, the last one who came out of my mother’s—”

“Drake, don’t you dare continue what you were going to say.” Fernando stopped him.

While Drake bit his lower lip and smiled. “I’m sorry, I just want to introduce myself in a more friendly way!”

This youngest looked friendly and more approachable than the first two. Maybe I could be closer to him first.

As I continued looking at my three identical stepbrothers, I didn’t know why it really feels like I’m familiar with them. The way they looked at me seemed like they were playing at me. Their scrutinizing gaze made me feel so weird, like I have seen those gaze before.

“I am Sharlene Stevens, your Mom now!” Mom giggled. “And oh, I remembered something!”

“What is it, Mom?” I asked, curious.

She turned her attention to me and then smiled. “Do you know that your stepbrothers are your high school classmates?”

My eyes widened. High school classmates?

“Mom, I don’t get you? How did we become high school classmates when we are far from this area?” I asked curious.

“You didn’t recognize them? As I cleaned up in our previous house yesterday, I saw your old class picture and these three were there!” She said excitedly. “You studied at Silverstein High School, right?”

I turned back my attention to the triplets and saw them all nodded while smiling. My brow raised, I still can’t remember them…

“Really? We thought you remembered us?” Drake asked, smirking.

“The moment I saw her at the restaurant that night, I remembered her pretty face right away!” Spencer added.

“Maybe she had a bad memory,” Caled shrugged.

I blinked.

“Really, my daughter? You didn’t remember them?”

My mouth gaped upon looking at them. Now I realized who they are! I was terrified to remember what they did to me back when we were in high school. My heart beats faster as I remember everything. The pain, the struggles, because of the way they treated me from before!

My body trembled, these three ruffians were the one who made my high school life a living hell! They made me cry and almost left school because of their bullying!

Out of all the people that can be my stepbrothers, why them? Why the hell do they have to be? God knows how much I controlled myself to not burst out of anger. I was just glaring at them intently.

Spencer went towards me and then gave me a playful smile before he patted my head.

“Our new little sister is so cute; we will cherish her.” Spencer said and then winked at me.

And now I’m sure… my life would be a living hell again.
