I never thought that someone would stop Elena once she is in her “kill now, ask later” mood, but Vladimir might have achieved the impossible.

I make sure everyone is out of the office before I close the door.

“You three,” I say to the cadets, “I want you available at any hour. Don't you even think about running. She will track you down and torture you to death.”

I see them getting white as ghosts, but they nod.

I pinch the bridge of my nose and close my eyes. I am so fucking dead.

“Do you need anything?” I hear Rose asking. “You look kinda sick. Some sugar might help.”

And she takes me by the hand and leads me to the cafeteria. Once there, she orders two Cokes and a hamburger, and we sit at a table.

“Eat and drink,” she says.

“Are you going to eat?” I ask.
