Chapter 26

I had been pacing around the room since Marcel had gone off to put a stop to the rogues attacking our land. I had gone to the window several times, peeking anxiously to see him return.

I was shaking non-stop, worrying about him and pleading to the Moon Goddess to protect him. Marcel was a great warrior and had always won every battle he was a part of. Still, that didn’t help me. I couldn’t help worrying. What if this was the time, he’d be unsuccessful in his battle, and I’d lose him forever.

I ran over to the bed and sat down, petrified by the horrible thought. My feet quivered. I tried to gain confidence, believing that Marcel was okay and had everything under control. The more I tried to think positively, the more dark thoughts filled my head of him lying on the ground, helpless and taking his last breath. I shook my head and ran over to the window.

It'd been hours since Marcel had gone. It felt like years. I wanted him to return to me so badly. I needed to know if he was okay.
