The Alpha’s Mysterious Luna 51
~Lindsey~ I take a moment to let everything that just happened sink in. I feel like I have a million butterflies in my stomach. Also a bit dizzy. It feels so unreal. I never thought Brady would care about me like he says he does. I’m trying so hard to resist him. I’m afraid of so many things. The questions cloud my head. Will he leave me broken like Jagger did? Will he just use me and leave me? Am I putting him in danger if I pursue a relationship with him? I decide I need a long relaxing bubble bath, so I go to run a tub. I love the smell of lavender, which is ironic considering Dad says that’s what I’ve always smelled like, so that’s the scent I choose. I let the tub fill while I go grab my bathrobe and a clean set of bath linens from the laundry room. It’s only halfway full by the time I get back, so I lay out my hair tools for later and clip up my hair. I turn on my calm playlist then hop in to soak. My stress melts away, and my thoughts slow down as my body relaxes.

~Brady~ I back out of the drive and head down the road to Lindsey’s house. I would take this route home sometimes when I wanted to slow down. The wildflowers bloom in the springtime, so it will be in full color in a few short weeks. I can’t wait to see what Lindsey thinks then. We sit in silence for a little while, but it’s not uncomfortable, just peaceful. “So are you excited about the pack party tonight?” I ask her, hoping for a positive response. “I guess. I’m a little nervous. I’m not a big fan of the spotlight.” She says, watching the scenery pass by. “Oh the next house is mine!” She says suddenly. “I know. It’s my job to know where my pack members stay. Especially my future luna.” I say with a smile on my face as we pull into her drive. “Brady, you don’t have to keep this up. You’re not going to hurt my feelings. A luna is a serious job. I know you probably just needed to get Jacqueline off your back or that-“ “Wait.” I hold up a hand after putting the truck in park.

~Brady~ I see two dark haired beauties walking my way. Callie looks like she’s complaining about something, and Lindsey is laughing at whatever she’s telling her. Goddess I love that laugh. I almost want to record it and listen to it over and over again. Though I can think of some sounds I’d rather hear her making. Shit. I can’t think about that right now. I don’t want to look like a creep. The last thing I need is a hard on when she gets in the truck. I wave at her through the windshield to make sure they know it’s me. Lindsey waves back and Callie gives me a glare. They head around to the passenger side, and I hear the doors open. “When is the last time you washed your seats?” Callie asks, eyeing my truck interior suspiciously. “Um I vacuumed today.” “Thanks for exposing our efforts, Callie,” Knight rumbles in my head. “Why? Is something on the seat?” I ask, turning around to look. I don’t remember anything being back there. “I hope not. Do you at least clean

~Lindsey~ Calculus seems to fly by. The serenity of this classroom is something I wish I could bottle up to keep for times of chaos, like science class. I don’t see how anyone couldn’t be successful in Mrs. Howell’s class. She might be the best teacher I’ve ever had; it’s like she just knows how to explain things in a way I can understand them. Apparently everyone else feels the same; when someone asks a question, she answers it briefly but thoroughly as she can. She had to catch me up on a few things, but I feel like it clicked the first time, which is impressive for a subject this complex. The bell rings, and I’m convinced someone fast forwarded time. I walk out with Willow; Deanna and Callie are on the other side of the room, so they left first. I can’t help but notice Brady isn’t here waiting on me. Some part of me feels sad, like it craves his attention. I knew that he’d get familiar with me and his infatuation would stop. I guess science class was the last straw today.

~Brady~ I may have overheard Lindsey tell her friends that I’m not serious about her. And while I may have taken it a bit too far, I wouldn’t mind becoming her mate in five years if I haven’t found someone. It ended up being a great deal for me. “Mind if I walk you? I’m just down the hall.” I ask Lindsey. “I guess. Though I’m not sure after the stunt you pulled in science,” she rolls her eyes. “Why are you upset with me? After all you said yes,” I turn up the charm and open the door for her. Colton grabs it from me to hold it for her friends. “You didn’t give me much of a choice. Besides you disrupted Mrs. Harrison’s entire class.” I can’t help but laugh. “If it wasn’t me, it would be someone else. Are you really mad at me for wanting you to be my mate?” She turns to face me quickly. “I’m sorry. ~Lindsey~ I’m convinced Brady has lost his mind. Deanna and I head towards the cafeteria to meet up with Callie. She’s not going to believe what just happened. I could sense the rage off of Jacqueline from the other end of the class; pissed off might be an understatement. She bolted out the second the bell rang, not that I was far behind. I’m determined to avoid Brady as much as possible for the rest of the day. Shit. I just remembered he’s picking us up. So much for that plan. Deanna and I sit our bags down at a table before hopping in the line for chicken tenders. Apparently they’re good because the line behind us is steadily growing.
