LOGINAlisa: I never knew who my parents were. You see, I was left at the steps of the convent as a child and it is at the convent where I grew up. But something is wrong with me. I woke up on my eighteenth birthday with an insatiable hunger, a hunger that no food can satisfy. I soon realized that there was only one thing that could satisfy me. The pleasures of the flesh. Because of that, I was branded a succubus, a demoness who seduces and sucks the life force out of her victims. The convent, they wanted to ‘cleanse’ my soul, they wanted to rip me apart and clean me inside out. I was scared. So I ran and ran and that was when I found him…. Alpha Ryder: I came from the strongest pack. We have everything we needed; money, fame and power. But a prophecy hangs over our pack. A succubus will come and seduce the one in power, tearing the pack apart and burning all that we have worked for to the ground. I grew up with the prophecy in my heart. As Alpha of the Red Moon pack, I will let nothing stand in my way. Nothing. But then I met her. And everything changed….

It is time.
I quickly stuff my clothes into a duffel bag; a tee-shirt, jeans and some money. My eyes dart back and forth between the bag and the door and with trembling hands, I pull a hoodie over my head, quietly heading towards the door. There will be no time for goodbyes.
But before my fingers can even wrap around the doorknob, it bursts open to a group of men, all with steel-blue eyes boring into mine. I scream.
“Tie her up!”
A thunderous order booms from the entrance and the men pour in, dragging me by my hands and legs.
“Get your hands off me!” I shout, kicking and clawing at them furiously but they are too strong. Far too strong. This was not supposed to happen!
Amidst the chaos, my eyes fall on the last man at the door, Beta Zion. I should have known.
He stalks towards me and with a sneer on his lips, Zion raises an open palm high up in the air before bringing it down and slapping me hard across the face. Such was his brute force that my head rolls like a limp doll to the side and I taste blood in my mouth. Tears line my eyes and blur my vision.
“Unhand me! Let me go-” I choke on my own words as his hand wraps around my neck and long nails dig into my skin. It is excruciatingly painful. Then I see it, the murderous glint in his eyes.
“Burn her,” he hisses.
***
A dark cloud blankets the moon and a heavy breeze begins to stir as I struggle against the ropes that bind me to a wooden stake. A roaring fire burns nearby and I am smothered by the thick smoke that rises from it.
“Confess your sins!” Zion orders.
I shake my head. How dare he! “No! As Luna of Red Moon pack, I command you to release me!”
Zion laughs, he must have gone cuckoo in the head.
“You have no right to hold me, prisoner! Once Ryder finds out he’ll-“
He walks up to me and grabs a fistful of my hair, yanking it by the roots. Ouch.
“The Alpha?!” He spits in my face and I almost gag, his spit smells of dead mice. The man needs to brush his teeth.
“Alpha Ryder was the one who ordered for your execution!”
What? I blink. His words pierce through my heart like a poisoned blade. All around us, chants begin to rise together with the billows of smoke that swirl up to the heavens. I shake my head, only for Zion to tighten his grip.
“You lie!” I scream. He's lying, he has to be lying. Beads of sweat roll down my face as I struggle violently to free myself from the stake, the ropes cut into my skin. I need to speak to Ryder. I need to speak to my Alpha!
A laugh escapes Zion’s lips. “You are no Luna! You are a harlot! A murderer! A SUCCUBUS!”
With a shove, he finally lets go of my scalp and bends over to pick up a burning stick. Waving the flaming torch barely inches from my face, the smoke fans around me drowning me in the billows of its black fumes. I cough violently.
Through the smoke, I see the Beta’s thin lips curl up into a smile that never quite reaches his eyes. I have neither seen nor felt such evil before.
“NOOO! LET ME GO!” I scream again but my cries for help fall on deaf ears for one by one, the eyes of the pack turn away from me. None dares to touch me, none dares to free me. Was this truly Ryder’s command?
My heart shatters to a million pieces there and then. This is the end for me and I am scared. I don’t want to die. Not just yet.
“Goodbye, succubus.”
Beta Zion drops the burning torch onto the heap of dry hay that lay beneath my bare feet and all too soon, the hay catches fire and the flames begin to spread, dancing like gipsies around my feet.
I close my eyes as the first lick of flame makes its way up the stake and a lone tear rolls down my cheek. I whisper, “Alpha, did you betray me?”
RYDER’s POV I sit on my bike, staring off into the burning sun. I had just come back from the convent. Hayden was supposed to have come back with me but he did not. “I’m sorry Ryder. The wolf left in the middle of the night. I think he had given up on himself.” Those were the exact words Sister Abbie had told me when I reached the convent earlier. Inhaling deeply, I slam my hands against the bike’s handle. Damnit, Hayden. Why didn’t you wait for me? Did you not trust me, your Alpha? From the distance, I see Nana walking over to where my bike is parked on the green fields. She walks using crutches and she cocks her head sideways, looking for my missing Gamma. Our eyes meet, I shake my head and she immediately understands. Her face crumples and the crutch drops to the ground with a soft thud. Nana sinks to the ground and I immediately jump off my bike and race toward her. “I’m sorry Nana,” is all I can say as I gather her in my arms. She weeps, she weeps for a life that could have
ALISA’s POVWhere am I?Am I dead?I should be, but this place does not look like heaven. It doesn’t look or feel like hell either. I sit up from the barren floor and look at what is supposed to be the sky above me, only, what greets me in infinite darkness. There is not a twinkle in the sky. There is no moon either. The only source of light seems to come from a pond a few feet away but the light is blurred as if I am seeing it underwater. I tilt my head and find everything else also cloudy. I rub my eyes, trying to clear my vision but it does not help. The cloudiness puzzles me.Placing my palm on the cold hard floor, I push myself off the ground and stand up. It is then I realize that the wound in my body is gone.My hands go to my chest and I move my hands up and down my body. This is odd, wasn’t I stabbed by Zion a moment ago?Say, where is he? Where is everyone?“Ryder?” I call out and my voice bounces off an invisible wall in echoes. “RYDER?”There is no answer. I decide to move
RYDER’s POVThe wolves attack savagely with their teeth gnashing and claws tearing into me. I kick one of them off, sending it somersaulting across the dungeon and knocking into a few other wolves and effectively rendering them unconscious.Wow. The power of the pearl is AWESOME!I had initially thought that my body would physically tire from the fight with Zion’s warriors but boy, oh boy was I wrong. It seems that with every knock and punch that I deliver, my body becomes fueled by the adrenaline and has thus become even stronger.Another wolf charges in my direction and I raise my fist, connecting it with the wolf’s face and it slumps into a whimpering little furball on the ground. I stare at my hands in awe. This is amazing! I’ve got to tell Alisa this, she’ll be so thrilled, she’ll be –“Surrender or she dies by my hands.” A voice booms from the back of the crowded dungeon and the wolves around me back off and part like the dead sea to reveal Zion, standing triumphantly. And he h
ALISA’s POVEverything happens in a blink of an eye. One minute, Ryder is barking orders to evacuate his pack from the dungeon and the next thing I know, Zion’s warriors have morphed into their natural werewolf forms, unleashing all fury upon my dearly beloved. It is not a fair fight for Ryder is taking on a dozen or more wolves at one time and even with the power of the pearl, I fear that winning will not come easy for him.He is obviously outnumbered.Sensing this, a few of the prisoners try to turn away from the exit to go back down to help Ryder but I stop them. I simply cannot let them gamble their fate, not after all the torture they endured. One of them is Alec Winters.Quickly, I grab his arm and shake my head. “Help guide the others to safety, I will stay with Ryder.”Alec’s brow furrows with concern and he parts his dry, chapped lips to protest but I shake my head again. He may be a warrior but he is only human, plus he is suffering from cracked ribs. He can’t even seem to b
