Chapter 1

Zara's POV

"We're being ambushed. Zara, grab your sister and run!" my father, the Alpha, rushed and went back to defend the pack.

"Why can't I help you? I am among the strongest," I protested.

"I don't wanna risk you getting hurt. Go! Take your sister and run!" he yelled.

"Grant!" the sound of my mother's voice calling dad was heard and I turned around to see a wolf tear the flesh from her neck, killing her.

My father started charging towards them and attacked them. They were too strong for him .... a vampire. They surrounded him and he fought until his last breath. A tear spill from my eyes as I witnessed the death of my parents. I went to find my sister in the closet hiding and I took her up and ran.

We stopped about half a mile from where the war was because Stella said she was tired.

"Will mommy and daddy come with us Z?" she asked and I had to fight the urge to break down in front of her.

"Daddy told me to run Stella. But momma and papa died," I told her.

It was better to tell her now than later because I had a feeling that my lie would catch up on me.

She started crying and it broke my heart. I lifted her up in my arms and ran with her as she sobbed on my shoulder.

I hated the Nightblood Pack. They killed my parents, my pack, destroyed my home. The person most responsible for this was Alpha Stone. A heartless, ruthless, person. I pity the girl who becomes his mate.

"Liv, you okay?" I asked my wolf but there was no reply.

Ever since the attack started, she's been acting up. Running around as if she's anxious. It was starting to give me a headache. I suddenly stopped because I was starting to become tired and dizzy. I looked at Stella to see she was asleep.

I stood there for a while until I smelt chocolate, mint and dirt. I became hypnotized by the scent and started to walk in the direction. I stopped when the scent was surrounding me and I lost hope in finding where the smell was coming from.

I heard a growl from behind me and I stood silent, afraid to turn around.

What the person said next, surprised me.

"Mate."
