Chapter 06

—Alpha Leo's Pov—

In the office, I'm going through files and documents, trying to come up with a solution to the deadly disease that has befallen my people, my kingdom. I'm worried sick, my people are depending on me, they're hoping on me and I don't know what to do. Still lost in thought, Beta Zeo walks in.

“Alpha, I found a doctor who can help us”  he says with some documents in his hands containing information about the said doctor

I look up at him with a little smile in my face

“Let me see” I say to him as he hands me the documents he was with when he came in

While going through the documents, he begins to explain

“ Her name is Doctor Lena Everhart, she's currently staying in the crescent pack, she's the doctor who cured and saved the Nightwalker pack when a deadly disease befell them, she currently is running a single mothers foundation, encouraging single mother, she… “ I cut him short and didn't let him finish

“Send her a letter as soon as possible, requesting that her presence is needed urgently as the disease is almost wiping out members of the pack, also there would be a reward if she accepts and help eradicate this disease”  I tell Beta Zeo

“Ok Alpha” He replies and heads out to carry out the instructions as told

I breathe a sigh of relief as he walks out the door, I say a silent prayer to the moon goddess that this doctor should help us. I let out a sigh and continue attending to the documents on my desk. 

It's been three days and still no respond from Doctor Lena, my people keep dying everyday that passes by, I sat down in my office thinking, I'm worried as all hope looks lost. 

Someone walks into my office, I look up to see who it is, and immediately I see who it is, my expression changed from a sad expression filled with hopelessness to an angry expression. She's the last person I want to see, my wife and Luna, Scarlet. 

“What do you want?” I shout with anger in my voice

For a moment she was startled

“Did you come here to see how miserable I am? 

I furrow my brow questioning her with an obvious angry expression. Lately I've been getting angry whenever I see her, I regret the day I rejected Selene and chose her, I thought she was the one for me, but hell I was so wrong, after Selene left for good, Scarlet started showing sides of her I never knew were there, she was nothing compared to selene. Selene was hardworking, and always tried her best to be a good Luna and mother to the pack even though I never gave her the opportunity of making the pack know she's the Luna

After she left, Scarlet changed, all she does is drink, smoke, party, and never cared about the welfare of the pack

“I..” 

“ If you don't have anything good to say, please leave me my office now” I say in a commanding tone and she dare not disobey. No one can resist the command of an Alpha, it's one of the powers only an Alpha possess

As she made to leave, Beta Zeo walks in with a letter in his hand, I looked at him with a smile on my face

“ Is it from Doctor Lena?” I questioned

“Yes it is Alpha”

I tore open the letter and in a matter of seconds my whole mood changed. 

I ran my hand through my head trying to think straight on what to do next. Doctor Lena rejected the request I sent through Beta Zeo, he became equally as frustrated as I was. 

In the letter she states that she has other prior engagements, what other engagements could possibly be more important than helping a dying pack. 

   “Beta Zeo, I need you to find out what exactly Doctor Lena has on her schedule that is so important and also I want you to help me deliver another letter to her and this time I'll be writing it myself.” I tell him and he looks apprehensive. 

   “And the what exactly will the contents of this letter be saying Leo?” Zeo asks m, apart from him b ing my Beta, he's also my best friend and he has always being able to read me and know all my moves. 

    “I'm going to offer her half of the packs wealth and lands, there's no way she'll be able to say no.” I tell him. 

    “Are you flipping mad Leo? You can't do that, the council won't even let you do that.” He tells me trying to be the voice of reason, but this situation has gone past me thinking rationally. 

    “Half of the council has already been wiped away by this disease and the other half will do as I say if they don't want to be next. And whether they like it or not, I am the Alpha and my word on this is final.” I tell him. 

    “Whatever you say Leo, you know I always have your back.” Zeo tells me and I really appreciate that more than he knows. 

    “Ok, just help me find out that information, I'll get the letter to you before the end of the day and then you can mail it to the doctor.” I tell Zeo, and then he bows his head and leaves my office. 

   I take a seat a bring out my customized stationary paper, mayb when she sees my offer plus the fact that I the Alpha of the pack is writing the letter, she'll know the gravity of the situation. 

  As I write the letter, I pour out my feelings, I know an Alpha is not supposed to show weakness but for some reason I feel like this doctor will relate better. As I write the letter, images of people sick in my pack continue flashing through my eyes, men, women, children even babies have been afflicted with this disease and more continue to die and they are all looking to me as the Alpha to help. And by the goddess I will do everything in my power to protect my pack.
