Ch.1 -Gwen

Walking along the small village of Stalight I take in the fall autumn leaves crunch at my feet and the smell of clean crisp air. Starlight is a village out side of a small human town where us shifters can be free and remain at peace. Humans stay out but aren’t ignorant that we exist they just stay to them selves and us as well. My mother a local seamstress and my father the Gamma of Alpha Miles Price the leader of our pack. Alpha Miles is a kind and strong leader. His wife Luna Ava is mom’s best friend making us all close. Alpha and Luna have twin sons named Adam and Adrian. They are next in line to become both Alphas. We use to play together when we were younger, but since they turned 16 and me 14 they started training more for their Aloha roles. As I walk down the road I’m greeted by my friend Carly she’s our Betas daughter. Beta Nico is the Alphas second in command and dad’s best friend. So Carly and I practically grew up together. “Omg, Gwen, did you see Adam and Adrian at training today”. Carly says skipping to catch up to me. “ No, I was helping mom get fittings for the Luna. What’s so special about their training I ask her. Carly shakes her head and turns in front of me to stop me walking further. “Umm hello, sweaty Alphas fighting each other and looking incredibly hot that’s what.” Shaking my head at her I step around her and continue walking. They’re practically like brothers we grew up together I don’t feel the need to watch sweaty boys who I only see as family. Carly scoffs and walks next to me now, seriously you do t think they are cute, not even a little bit. I every girl wants there attention. I laugh “not me sorry, I’m sure the feeling’s mutual for them as well.” I say. Carly purses her lips and then smiles, you know what would be funny she tells me. If when you shift to your wolf and it’s revealed they are your match. I stop and turn to give her a look of annoyance. “Why would you put that out there”? “I want my mate to be in a different pack I want to know what’s out there and live an adventurous life. I have no desire to be a Luna.” It was no surprise that I was a dreamer in a small village, but not actually telling Carly that Adam and Adrian weren’t the nicest to me. Since growing up we’ve become distant and their egos and popularity became something I couldn’t be apart of. I’ve distanced myself from them after finding out Adam and Adrian said I was ugly and they wouldn’t touch me if I was on fire. So I walked away from our friendship. Once a shifter becomes 18 is when our wolves show and we can shift for the first time. Also we can find our mates. I pray my mate is kind and loving. Carly laughed I hope for your sake you end up not mated to them. You’d be stuck with both at once. She made a face like ouch thinking about having both at the same time during sex. Hmm that never occurred to me either and now a mental picture was stuck in my head. Making it to my street and waving off to Carly I headed inside being greeted by my mom and dad and our Beta Nico. Both looking upset I smile and head upstairs to my room to listen to music. After a while I decide that I’m hungry and go down stairs. I stop in the middle of the stairs out of sight and hear the Alpha and Beta talking loudly this time.

We cannot protect our village if the rumors are true and Ice moon pack is looking to invade our pack. Alpha Alexander of Ice moon pack was known to be a tyrant and barbaric. If he decides to invade our lands we wouldn’t have a chance. “We have sent out scouts to see where they have moved, it’s possible they are heading south instead”, Beta Nico says. “Once our scouts come back with intel we should make a move on protecting our people. Alpha Miles says as a final say. After they leave I crept downstairs and see mom and dad in the dinning area. Mom looking worried she turns to dad, what are we going to do? She asks dad sighs if they decide to invade you need to run. Dad looks serious and mom turns pale. You run, run as fast and far as possible don’t take anything with you that will weigh you down. Take the savings we have on hand and don’t tell the next town where you come from. Mom shook her head in agreement and went to start packing. Dad looks over to me, he hugs me tightly and says he’s proud of me and loves me. Knowing if this happens my dad will no doubt fight till his dying breath and I’ll never see him again. He kisses my forehead and tells me to head upstairs and try to get some sleep. After tossing and turning I finally fall asleep, only to be woken up with shouting. Sitting up in a panic mom bursts open my door. “Gwen, get up they’re here they’re burning everything down. We gotta go now” mom says in a panic. I grab my only possession I value a necklace I was gifted when I was born. A star crystal representing starlight pack and head out the house and into the woods. Since I can’t shift yet I’ve got no choice but to run.
