My legs are in fire my body is screaming carrying this pack. At this point he’s gonna have to drag me the rest of the way, cause I’m about to give up. I let out a whine in the back of my throat for how uncomfortable I am and he stops to look over his shoulder. “Not much farther”, he says and continues to walk ahead of me. I tried to in loosen the rope a little before we jump the river, but I couldn’t get it loose enough and whenever I pulled on the rope he would turn back. Now the rope is taught between us. The more he pushes forward I drop back and he ends up dragging me forward. “ You said that 20 minutes ago”, I protest when my feet start to drag. “Keep moving kiddo” I feel like throwing up, my father and uncles called me that, they are all dead now. “Don’t call me that” I say pulling the rope towards me with my hand to get his attention. “Why you don’t like it”? He stops to turn back and look at me. “My family called me that, you are not my family.” He walks close to me and there’s no anger on his face so I’m not scared when I look up at him. “I’m all you got and I can call you whatever I want”. It’s the first time realization has dawned on me that I in fact am alone in all this. That whatever happens to me is my problem and no one else’s. I take a deep breath and let go of my emotion. “ Gwen my name is Gwen and never Kiddo”. He huffs a laugh and turns to walk forward again and before I know it I’m being g pulled again. We finally make it out of the Forrest to a house on a small hillside a creek running down beside it. It looks newer than the house he lived in the village and the chimney showing a fire inside is lit. Someone must be here already. I panic, looking around for an escape. When suddenly a woman I recognize walks out of the house wiping her hands on her apron. She’s the same women that helped me in the tent. She smiles at us and gestures us inside. Lucian gives her a half hug and pulls me toward her since we are tied together. “Oh my dear,” she hugs me. She looks down at the rope around my waist and then at Lucian and he just shrugs. She rolls her eyes. “Well now, we’ve not properly be introduced my name Lucy.” I smile at her and she gives me a smile back. Clearing her throat, “I’ve made sourdough and there’s a rabbit in the pot, come inside”. Her friendly demeanor puts me at ease and I walk inside the house, it’s clean and cozy and warm , the smell of the food she just mentioned hits me and I almost drool. She directs us to a long wooden table and Lucian goes to sit down, but Lucy smacks him on his arm. I stare in shock as does Lucian. “Before you think about sitting down you untie that poor girl and let her relax, poor things probably tired and starved”. “Relax I fed her some protein bars and she had plenty of water. We actually had a full breakfast before we left the cottage.” Lucy just stares at him not amused, folding her arms. “Fine, if she runs”. “Where would she run to”? Lucian isn’t amused, but knowing they just confirmed I can’t escape to safety well now I’m just gonna make the most of it here. After Lucian pulls the rope and unties me I go to sit at an empty chair ready to eat. My legs are on fire and I feel so hungry I don’t care what we eat. My time here with Lucian and Lucy are quite and easy going Lucy’s mate showed up on the third day we’ve been here but he quickly leaves after two days. A week has passed I’m beginning to feel at home. Lucian teaches me about the woods at first with the rope still tied to him, but after a while he doesn’t even bother anymore. He teaches me how to disappear into the woods and mask my scent, since I have no wolf yet it’s not as strong but still a faint smell is noticeable. I mean per Lucian “any wolf knows something’s not right if they walk into the woods and suddenly smell sugary goodness.” Although he doesn’t say what the smell is only that it’s sweet and to the wrong wolf that’s a deadly ending for me. After our training he shifts and puts me on his back and we head to the house, where Lucy has lunch ready. Like clock work we eat I help Lucy clean up and Lucian leaves where to I don’t know. But the routine is the same and it doesn’t change for the next 3 days.
With my head down and sitting on my knees I front of Alpha Alexander I don’t speak. The pack warrior who carried me out of the house, pulls me by the hair and forces me to look at Alexander. The pain in my scalp is enough to have tears leak from my eyes but I hold them back. Alexander bends down so he’s face to face with me. “Where is Lucian”? He asks. With my hands holding on to the warrior who is still holding my head up by my hair. Alexander grabs my face with bruising force. My jaw feels like it will break and I’m stuck between both these men. “Tell me where he is and I won’t kill you”. With a small shake of my head, “I don’t know, I haven’t seen him since last night”. Alexander smirks, “Just long enough to pleasure him then he’s gone. Lucian always did run away and leave his so called loved one’s behind.” Just then a loud crash and screaming is heard from the house behind me I don’t need to turn around to know it’s Lucy inside. My heart aches for her. No sooner does Alexander let
I didn’t see Lucian the rest of the night and although I slept I had that same feeling the night of my village being raided. Uneasiness and worry rocked my ever waking thought. I worried about Lucian about Lucy and her mate. They weren’t my pack but they showed me kindness and safety. Pulling my blankets over my head I let out a huff and forced my eyes closed to shut out the continued thoughts running rampant. If I need to run I will, and I’ll make sure I get farther now that Lucian was training me about these woods. Although what good would that do if the woods he captured me in was my own backyard, woods that I played in and explored countless of times. Fear started to ebb and the thought of someone besides Lucian having captured me and god knows what would have actually happened to. With the sun rising I decide to get up and get the day started, after a shower and change in another pair of clothes Lucy had given me. I head into the kitchen and begin to boil water for tea. It’s qu
On the twelfth day Lucy’s mate Griffin shows back up to the house only he’s not alone. Worry etched on Lucian’s face along with a look of anger. “Alpha, Matteo has returned with news of the borders. Matteo the warrior I saw Lucian talking to before heading to his cabin when we first arrived, walks forward and bows. “My Alpha, the packs from the south and east have gathered heading our way.” Matteo says while head still bowed. Lucian stands and addresses Matteo and Griffin. “How many?” “At least over a thousand, and that’s just the top warriors and scouts it could be more”. Lucian walks toward the table and turns as if decided he’s changed his mind about sitting. “What about Connor”? He asks looking to Matteo. “Connor, hasn’t returned from his scouting if there are more packs alliances he could have been caught.” Griffin then speaks up, “ my alpha, you need to see if Alexander will put his pride aside come to reason, We should have never stepped foot in starlight.” Lucian growls to sto

I slept all night, not sure if I was emotionally exhausted or just exhausted I didn’t dream anything. It was like my brain was tired it could process any information to give me nightmares or dreams. Like the night just disappeared. One minute I was eating and feeling overwhelmed and the next I’m waking up to the sun barely showing over the horizon. It’s early I know that cause there’s still darkness outside. Just as I shift my body to a long stretch a knock sounds at my door. I sit up with the bed immediately making a squeak noise. I step towards the door and open it a little and see Lucian in what seems like sweat pants and a T-shirt. It’s the most casual I’ve ever seen him. “Morning, I have food ready once you eat you can change and we can head out”. He says almost like a request but more so an order. I nod and follow him to the kitchen again. On the table this time is eggs, bacon and sausage and potatoes and a glass of cranberry juice, and what seems to be grape juice maybe. The fo
I jolt awake when I hear a sound of a loud bang almost like someone is breaking the door down. I scrambled towards the door my feet making loud movements. Guess I’m gonna have to get use to moving slower so I don’t make so much noise, I hesitate at the door and contemplate opening it. He did say in here if someone was here in the house. I hesitate for just a moment more when I hear a growl and a loud bang. I open the door and walk into the kitchen. I see two large warriors and none other than Alpha Alexander. Lucian is standing behind the couch and when he sees me he calmly walk s to my side. “Well seems as you all have gotten comfortable”. Alexander says with a smirk. I keep my head down not answering just like Lucian requested. Lucian shifts closer to me and places his large hand on the back of my neck and leans into me. “Go back to our room and sit on the floor and wait for me to come get you when I need you.” He says loud enough for Alexander to hear. I nod and step back towards th
