Kaid’s POV

The clang of weights echoed off the walls of the penthouse gym, each rep a temporary distraction from the chaos in my head. I focused on the burn in my muscles, the rhythmic pace of my breath, the sweat slicking down my neck.

But even in the midst of all that effort, I couldn’t push her out of my mind.

Aria.

The elevator incident kept replaying, no matter how hard I tried to shove it aside. Her trembling, the raw panic in her voice, the way she looked at me like I was the only thing tethering her to reality.

I’d seen fear before. I’d caused it before.

But hers? That was different.

It pulled something out of me—something I hadn’t felt in a long time. Protective. Helpless. Angry.

And not just angry at what happened… but at the memory it stirred.

I dropped the barbell with a sharp clatter and stepped away, grabbing a towel to wipe the sweat from my face. My jaw clenched. I didn’t want to go there. Not again. That chapter was closed.

Dead and buried.

So why did it fe

Caspian’s POV Everything paused. I don’t mean in a poetic way. I mean the air actually shifted, like time itself took one horrified gasp and held its breath. Damon’s eyes widened, and then that slimy grin stretched across his face like it had been waiting its whole life for this moment. “Ohhh,” he breathed, like he’d just unwrapped the world’s sickest present. “I’ve hit the jackpot.” Shit. No. No, no, no. This wasn’t just bad. This was catastrophic. From where I stood—trapped in my pristine white cage with walls like a fish tank—Ryker looked like he was about to explode. Thane voice sharp and low, every word a razor. “Don’t you dare touch her.” But Damon? He stepped closer to Thane’s glass, lips twitching like he’d just found our collective jugulars. “You threatening me, doc?” “It’s not a threat. It’s a promise.” Damon’s eyes sparkled, the kind of sparkle only psychos and fire-starting children get. “You really don’t get it, do you? This changes everything. Now I know exac

Ryker’s POV I woke up to the pounding of war drums in my skull. No, not drums. Just a headache that felt like someone took a sledgehammer to my brain while dancing on my chest with cleats. "Ugh... hell," I groaned, dragging myself up from the cold, too-sanitized floor. The last thing I remembered was that choking field of deep green smoke, whatever the hell it was. Right before I blacked out, I’d launched Eliza up into the vent like a human-sized volleyball. Hopefully she had the damn good sense to keep crawling. I blinked through the headache and took in the scene. A pristine white room. Minimalist as hell. The walls gleamed like they'd just been wiped down by a psychotic janitor with OCD. And lucky me, front row seat to the freak show. A transparent glass wall stretched across the front, revealing two other cells on the opposite side. And in them were Caspian and Thane. I bet Kaid’s Cell is beside mine. The gang’s all here. Well. Minus our weapons. I did a quick scan—belt?

  • The Apex's hidden mate   Your mother was part of us

Aria’s POV I was bound. All fours—raised up, stretched tight, my wrists and ankles pulled in opposite directions. My muscles ached from the strain, but that wasn’t what made it hard to breathe. It was the memory. I remember this was how I was bound the first time. The night they took me. Cold metal bit into my skin. My head hung low, hair dangling like a curtain between me and the monsters below. I could hear them but their words were just out of reach. A distant echo in a nightmare I hadn’t yet escaped. Mr. X. Standing below like a god among his cult of demons. Dressed in his signature outfit, hands clasped behind his back. His eyes found mine, and he smiled. he was savoring this. I tried to move but my body refused. It wasn’t just the restraints. It was like my limbs had given up, like something inside me was holding back all my rage, bottling it behind glass I couldn’t break. I was furious. He had killed her. My mother. All this time, I thought it was my fault. I thought

  • The Apex's hidden mate   Tubes of lies

Kaid’s POV I didn’t like surprises. And this place? This place was a fucking labyrinth of them. We stepped through the window expecting marble floors and gold-trimmed walls. Instead, the air was thick with the scent of machinery—oil, metal, and time. The walls were matte steel, stained with the quiet kind of wear that only came from years of activity. This wasn't an estate. It was a damn fortress wearing a mask. Thane’s voice cut through the silence. “We move. Now.” I didn’t need to be told twice. The girl—Aria’s friend—led the way. “I’ve put every camera along this route into a ten to twenty-second time loop,” she said, fingers flying across her phone. “Security won’t even notice we’re here.” This estate was supposed to be some rich bastard’s playground. But everything I saw now told a different story. How the hell did this exist right under our noses? For every mission we completed… every lead we followed…There was always something we missed. Secrets layered beneath lies

Eliza’s POV I sat in the passenger seat, staring out the window as the trees blurred by. The engine hummed beneath us, and Thane’s grip on the wheel was firm. I knew the others were behind us in their cars, heading to the same place. It was strange. I hadn’t expected them to come. Honestly, I thought they’d finally given up on her. I thought they’d chosen to believe the worst. But I guess the bond between them and Aria still ran deeper than anger. Maybe deeper than betrayal. I glanced at Thane. “How did you convince the others?” He didn’t look at me. Just kept driving. “I didn’t,” he said simply. “They were already thinking the same thing. Just… no one wanted to say it out loud.” “Oh…” I leaned back in my seat, that word sitting heavy in my chest. My phone started buzzing on my lap, the screen lighting up with Quin’s name. I blinked, then quickly picked it up. “Quin?” “She’s awake,” Quin said. Her voice was sharp, clipped. “Tyla’s awake.” Relief spread through me in a wav

  • The Apex's hidden mate   Deeper than rage

Thane’s POV I looked at Eliza and all I could see was unwavering belief. It was etched into every line of her face, sitting in her eyes like a fire that wouldn’t go out, no matter how many storms tried to drown it. She believed Aria was innocent. There was no hesitation in her voice, no faltering in her stance. And the painful truth was…I believed it too. Even when the evidence stacked up like a wall we couldn’t break through. Even when every lead led nowhere. Even when our bond ached and twisted inside me like a dying thread. I still believed. But we had stopped. We’d all slowed to a crawl. Because our hearts—our hearts were bleeding. The more we chased answers and found none, the heavier the weight grew. Hope kept slipping through our fingers. And at some point, though none of us dared say it aloud, we thought… maybe we were wrong about her. Maybe— No. I gritted my teeth at the memory. No. Aria didn’t do this. Still, we stopped because if we hadn’t, we might have shattere
