Ryder

I carry Alice back toward the pack house with her weight pressed against my chest, her head lolling weakly against my shoulder, her hair tangled with leaves and dirt. My arm tightens around her without me thinking about it, like if I loosen even a little she will slip away. The woods are still loud behind us with distant engines fading and voices shouting, Jerome and the rest already chasing after Jackal’s men, their boots tearing through the underbrush. I can hear them even as we move away, the hunt still on, unfinished and ugly.

My side burns like hell. Every step sends a sharp reminder straight through my ribs where the blade went in earlier, warm blood soaking through my shirt and sticking to my skin. I grit my teeth and keep moving because stopping is not an option. Not with Alice like this. Not when her breathing is shallow and uneven against my neck.

The pack house lights come into view through the trees and that’s when people start rushing toward us. Owen is the first on

Alice I wander through the house late at night when sleep refuses to come and the room starts to feel too stuffy even with the windows open to the cool air outside. The old bruises from fights have healed enough that they do not hurt much anymore but my thoughts keep turning over everything that has happened, the ambush in the bush the way those men chased me, the blackout and waking up with Reign holding me covered in blood from his stab wound. He has suddenly been acting differently since that day keeping an eye on me without the usual arguments and the bond pulls at me in ways that annoy me. I don't want to notice how it makes me feel safer or something close to it. Gabe tells me all the time to try settling here to see that it is not as bad as rogue life, but I still catch myself looking for an exit… planning in my head even if I know leaving right now would put me straight in Jackal's path. The hallways are dark with only a couple lights left on low and I walk in my crocs so

ReignI sit in the back room with the maps spread out on the table, a half-empty bottle of whiskey beside me. The nights have stretched long lately. I keep trying to piece together who leaked our race route during that ambush, who feeds Jackal details about our moves. The crew stays on edge. Everyone watches everyone else. I hate it. My crew used to feel solid, no questions about loyalty. Now doubt hangs everywhere. Alice keeps her distance since she woke up after blacking out in the woods. She insists she can handle herself. Gabe checks in more often, worried about her. I let him. At least someone watches when she refuses to let me close.Jerome knocks once on the door, then walks in without waiting. He carries his phone in hand, his face serious. He shuts the door quietly, stands there a second, looks at the maps."Boss, I just got off the phone with our informant, the one in the old territories," he whispers. His voice stays low. He does not want anyone outside to hear, even thoug

RyderThe hall is packed tonight, fuller than usual, every bench taken, men leaning against the walls, arms crossed, faces tight and serious. The smell of oil, sweat, and metal hangs thick in the air, mixed with the faint sting of antiseptic that still clings to me from the clinic. My side aches with every breath, the stitches pulling when I move, but I ignore it as I step forward. Pain is the least of my problems right now.I let my eyes sweep over them slowly, one face at a time. These are my men. My crew. The same ones who rode with me, bled with me, drank with me. And somewhere in this room might be the person who handed Jackal an opening on a silver platter.“Everyone who was around that night stays right where they are,” I say, my voice calm but hard. The hall quiets fast, the usual noise gone like someone flipped a switch. “No one leaves until we’re done.”Jerome stands a little to my right, arms folded, jaw set. Owen is near the front, leaning back against a table lazily.I ta

  • The Biker Alpha's Lost Mate    Ch.20: Reign

AliceI push the bike harder than I should through the wood track, twisting the throttle wide open. Those two bikes behind me are gaining fast, and I recognize the logos on their jackets even in the dark. It is Jackal's underground dogs, the ones who run his dirty races, who do his enforcer work.My heart slams in my chest, the engine roaring loud under me, echoing through the trees, giving away exactly where I am every second. I take a sharp turn, spraying dirt and leaves, hoping to lose them in the thicker part of the woods, but they follow easily like they know these trails better, or maybe they planned this. The ambush hit so fast after Reign and I pulled ahead in the race, those rivals coming out of nowhere, cutting us off. I saw Reign swerve and go down hard, but I could not stop or turn back. One of them was right on me, forcing me deeper into the woods. Now it is just these two chasing, and I can hear their engines growling close, one on each side, trying to box me in."Fuck,"

  • The Biker Alpha's Lost Mate    Ch.19: Ambushed

RyderIt has been a couple of weeks since that mess with Alice touching my bike and almost getting me killed on the road, and things have been tense around here, but not exploding at least. At least Alice stays out of trouble, mostly keeping to herself or hanging with Gabe when he is back from border duty, and I let her be. Fighting every day is wearing me down. The bond pulls hard all the time, but she still pushes back, and I still do not let her leave.Tonight is our usual sport night where the crew gets together for rides and races out in the old wood tracks away from the pack. It is something we do every few weeks to blow off steam and keep sharp, and everybody looks forward to it. Owen shows up like always. He never misses a chance to race or bet, and he pulls in early on his loud bike, grinning like an idiot when he sees me.He claps me on the back hard as we stand around the starting line with bikes lined up and the guys checking tires and engines. "Good to see you, man. Heard
