Conan’s pov

“What the hell do you think you are doing?” Maddie asked coming into my office.

“Just so you know, being married to your friend doesn’t mean we are friends,” I informed her, and she scoffed.

“Of course, it doesn’t mean that. And I would never want to befriend someone like you,” she said.

“She called me, she called me and told me everything. Your wife tells you that she is pregnant, and you give her some report that says that you can’t have kids,” she said.

“I don’t owe you an explanation, and I am surprised that Emma told you all of this,” I said.

Emma has always been someone who doesn’t like telling people about her private life.

Hell, you wouldn’t know about her finances or anything like that.

But then again, she and Maddie have always been like sisters.

And this isn’t a small issue, I am sure that she just wanted to have someone to talk to.

“Listen, this matter is between me and my wife,” I said, and she chuckled bitterly at this.

“Your wife? Did you just say wife?

You had a fertility test done without telling your wife. Your wife has been framed and yet you don’t believe her. What did you ask her to do? To acknowledge her mistakes?” she asked me.

“Please get out,” I said and watched as she huffed before walking away.

What am I expected to do in all of this?

I found my wife in bed with another man and that imagine has been stuck to my head.

The fact that my wife and best friend betrayed me like this is unbearable.

And now, a few days after finding out that I can never be a father I find out that my wife is pregnant.

To think that he gave her something that I could have never offered her.

I am also in pain; I am hurting right now.

“Is everything okay?” Jenna asked standing at my office door.

I really should fire my assistant and bodyguard if they are just going to let anyone through.

“What do you want Jenna?” I asked her and she just shrugged.

“I came to check on you. I am sure that you need a shoulder to cry on, first your wife cheated on you,” she said and then sighed.

She walked towards me and then sat down on the chair.

“I will marry you no matter what. I don’t care that you can’t have kids,” she said, and I looked at her confused.

“What did you just say? Did I hear you correctly?” I asked her.

“Yes, it is true that you can’t have kids, The medical report proves it,” she said.

“And this medical report, where did you see it?” I asked her.

She took out her phone and I was the number trending topic.

Not only that, but even the news that Emma is pregnant was everywhere.

How did these people know?

I noticed that some of the pictures were pictures of Emma buying pregnancy tests.

Has the paparazzi been following her?

No, Emma can’t see this in the condition that she is in.

This exactly what she hates, she probably can’t stand anything that is happening right now.

She has always hated the media and how they constantly twist things.

She doesn’t like the spotlight at all and was one of the reasons she was reluctant on dating me.

Being an heir to a multinational company I am always in the public’s eye.

I got into my car and drove home to find people outside my home.

I picked up my phone and called extra guards to come and take them away.

They cleared them and I went inside the house, and it was dark and almost empty and lifeless.

Emma likes art, and as someone who loves art she also loves natural lighting.

She likes rooms where there is a lot of natural light coming in.

She always has the windows opened for fresh air and the house always has flowers and is full of life.

But now, all that light and life was completely gone.

I can see she is hurting but so am I.

And the fact that she is hurting hurts even more than anything.

And now the media is saying all these things about her and her unborn baby.

I walked upstairs and found her in our room just sitting at a corner.

“Are you okay? I saw what the media is writing, I have my PR working on it. I am sorry that they are saying all these things about you and your unborn baby,” I said, and she looked up.

“My unborn baby?” she asked me with a little pain in her voice but then nodded.

“And they are also saying hurtful things about you as well,” she added.

“I will be alright, I am used to all of this,” I said, and she nodded.

She got up from the floor and then looked at me with a smile.

“You are an amazing man, and I was supposed to do this the day I told you I was pregnant. But I couldn’t do it then,” she said and then touched her belly.

“You can erase all these things on the media but not on people’s minds,” she added.

“I know that, but another hot topic will come, and they will move on,” I said, and she nodded.

“But will you? Can you move on from all of this?” she asked me.

“You have nightmares about this. I have heard you talking in your sleep,” she added.

“Stop talking, please Emma stop talking. I know that it will take time,” I said, and she shook her head.

“With time, some wounds just get worse,” she responded and then I watched as she took off her wedding ring.

She then took my hand and put the ring.

“I am sorry our marriage didn’t work out. I am sorry that nothing worked out,” I said and then she picked up her bag.

“Please don’t go, this can still work out,” I said, and she shook her head.

“Nothing will work out. I want to stay; I wish I could stay but being together won’t work out. You are hurting, I am hurting, and I don’t want my child to be born in such a place,” she said.

“I am sorry, I love you more than life. But now I have another life to think of,” she added.

She was sobbing as she was walking away.

“Emma Stop, if you leave this house today. If you leave me today, then I never want to see you again,” I said.

She didn’t stop, she kept walking and walking.

“Emma, I am dead serious. If you walk out that door, then you and I are done,” I added.

Why isn’t she stopping? Is this really the end of us?
