7. So Damn Stubborn

When I stepped out of the cab, I didn't know what I expected to gain from this meeting.

The Hunter I had loved was lost already.

But I agreed to meet him anyway. I took a deep breath and walked inside the restaurant. From what I remember from my experience, I knew he wouldn't give up easily, so I might as well face him now.

But now, I didn't know what to do now that we were having this discussion. I didn't know this Hunter anymore. The cocky, self-assured boy I had fallen for was gone. In his place was a man - reserved, mature. A complete stranger.

I stared at his neat haircut, pressed shirt, and slacks. He looked like an adult now, not the reckless teen who had broken my heart.

But I didn't trust him enough to allow him to know my daughter. It didn't matter who her father was because she was mine only, she had always been.

"Tell me who the father is, Tatiana," Hunter asked, holding my hand firmly.
