LOGINCamila's POV
"Me? Who's that?" I said, following her downstairs. "Her name was madam Vanessa." I did not hear her clearly. "I'm sure there's been some sort of mix up somewhere. Vanessa?" I shook my head. I wasn't buying this! I tried to keep myself, calming down. I always knew that Vanessa was becoming...too available. But she was my own friend, and I never invited her! "It's so lovely to see you here, I didn't think you would make it--" this was Aubrey, Jaxon's mother. I felt betrayed that my chest stung. "Wait, you knew of her arrival?" I turned to Jaxon, "you invited her over without telling me?" "Oh I'm sorry to be an inconvenience. I jsit thought Jaxon would have let you know." Vanessa said, smiling innocently. "I'm a little angry, Vanessa. Why did you show up without letting me know." I frowned. No matter how cute she tried to be, I was still angry. "Caleb was even shocked too." "Can we just stop acting weird now and just eat??" Jaxon said, clearing his throat. "Come on, Vanessa. Have your seat." Vanessa? What happened to "miss" Vanessa? How could I just sit and enjoy our meal as if nothing had happened?? I didn't realize I was standing like a witch while they made themselves comfortable and sat around the table. Vanessa was smiling, acting all coy with them. And they treated her nicely than they'd ever done since I'd been married to Jaxon. "You're so pretty," Aubrey said. "Compared to someone else, if you know what I mean." Blake said and they all bursted out laughing. "Here, you should have some. It may look ugly but I promise it's nice." Savanah said, offering Vanessa a piece of her brownie. I was observing everything from where I stood. This was unbelievable! Just as I was about to take join then, Vanessa started coughing. It was light at first but then it increased and she started to cry too. It was horror watching her. I jumped forward, "Vanessa? What's wrong? What's wrong with you!" Everyone began to hold her and try to calm her down. Soon, she began to gag. It was really horror as her skin started to swell. Her eyes puffed out as she tried to say something, but no words came out. "It's her allergy! Are there nuts in the brownie, Savanah!" I asked, turning to her. She stared down, her cheeks fluster from embarrassment. "I have no idea what you're saying. I didn't make the brownie." "Please Savanah, just tell me now!" I demanded. "Jaxon, Vanessa has a peanut allergy, we need to get her to the hospital now." Jaxon nodded. "I'll get my keys now." He sauntered out. "Wait, did you really make the brownie?" Aubrey asked her daughter, but it was a whisper. Savanah thought I couldn't see her but she nodded. Blake rolled his eyes. "You are a terrible cook." He mumbled. "I've got my keys. Let's carry her to the car." Jaxon said. I helped, trying to carry Vanessa but Jaxon took her in his arms and ran to the car. I opened the door, reaching there first, "careful, careful!" Jaxon yelled at me as I tried to help. "Let's hurry, I'll stay with her at the back." I said, prepared to get in. I didn't even mind the fact that I wasn't putting on slippers as I was running to the car before, trying to get there right on time. "No way. So you can kill her finally?" Were the words I heard from Jaxon. My heart crumbled. "W-what are you talking about?" "You knew she had allergies and you let her eat the nutty brownie anyway!???" He roared out, his chest puffing. I flinched, fear crippling me. "Jaxon, I have no idea what you're talking about! Did I know there were nuts in the brownie? Did I make the fucking brownie!" "Is this how you'll argue and kill my grandchild for me???" Aubrey shouted. She took all the attention now. "What? Grandchild??" I cried out. "Mother! You shouldn't...why would you--" Jaxon said, and the sad look in his eyes annoyed me because it was almost as if he was agreeing to the nonsense his mother had just said. "Grandchild??" The word was bitter in my mouth. "Jaxon, what is she talking about?" "We don't have time for this. Just, stay away from us okay? Blake, come with me." Blake nodded and entered the car. When the engine roared to life, Jaxon called out my name. "We have to talk when I get back. But pray to the heavens and hell that nothing is wrong with Vanessa and my baby when I come back." I stood still, gasping for air because my chest was feeling tighter as I tried to take in air. "Jaxon...Jaxon said my baby." I kept muttering out, dazed by those words. Aubrey cleared her throat. "Well the cat is finally out of the bag. Now you can get lost, we don't need you anymore." I heard Savanah muttered. "Will she take Caleb too?" "God no. No one is taking my grandchild anywhere. Besides, who will take care of him? We all know Camila is poor as hell!" "Yea true." Savanah agreed and they both laughed. I didn't move, I couldn't. All I could think of was the fact that Jaxon was going to have a baby with another woman...with Vanessa??!Camila's POV "Thanks Tessa, you really are the best." I said with a smile. Caleb was pouting and didn't even say a word. I could see him from the mirror. "Honey, won't you say thank you to Tessa for her help?" He shrugged. "Whatever, thanks aunt Tessa.""Teenagers." I said cloaking my concern in an awkward smile."That doesn't mean he should give you that tone. I tell you all the time, Cami. That tone was not proper." Tessa insisted."Can we not talk about that now?" I cut her off. She always told me to handle the situation more seriously, telling me that I wouldn't want him to become bratty like Jaxon's family, and it always hurt a little. But today will not be the day to scold him. "Sure, fine whatever you say, cuz." She said instantly. Tessa was like my sister, and her parents took care of me like I was their own."So how's aunty and uncle?" She smiled,"when you call then aunty and uncle, you sound like you're still four years old." I ended up laughing. "Well, I'm still their
Camila's POV I mean I had always suspected something strange was going on between them. Caleb even made assumptions! I...I just couldn't believe my doubts to be true.I didn't know how long I'd been waiting but finally, Jaxon came back. Blake was not with him. "You seem in a rush. How is she?" I said, even though I was still angry, I needed to know that she was okay. He ignored and kept pacing around. "Jaxon, can you hear me? I'm talking to you.""She could have died if we didn't rush her to the hospital on time, Camilla! Okay? Now leave me alone.""I don't like your tone. What is important is that she's fine now.""But my baby might not be!" He roared out. You could see the anger boiling in his eyes. "Your baby?" The words were heavy and bitter in my mouth."If anything goes wrong, I will never forgive you okay! You'll pay for it. I wondered why tears weren't flooding from my eyes right now. I was devastated, after all this years of our marriage, he would cheat on me and chose an

Camila's POVI couldn't believe what had just happened. "Jaxon? I told you what happened, how can you still doubt me like this!"Savanah blinked, she knew her brother was taking her side. "Why will you lie like this, Camila? What did I ever do wrong?""You--" anger filled me but I never spoke bad to my in laws before so why start now?"Aren't you even bothered about your son? Look at you keen on attacking my own precious daughter." Aubrey said. It raised a few suspicious glances at me from everyone that I turned to leave.I paused, then signaled to Jaxon. "I need to see you." He hesitated for a while, then rose up. "Where are you going my son? Stay, will you?" Aubrey asked."Yea, are you acting like a pussy like this because of this woman?" Blake spat out. I always found Blake disgusting. He was a big headache on his own. With Jaxon being the first child, he sure allowed his younger ones take advantage of him too much. And Jaxon and I were almost age mates with him taking one year
The brownies were getting burnt! I could not just speak directly of course. But I had to do something. "Um, Savanah, they're getting burnt." I said to her in a gentle tone. She looked at me like I were something from the trash can, those big eyes bulged open."Who are you to tell me what to do? You fool." She scoffed. "Why don't you do it then?"It was the anniversary of the late boss Hans, the head of the family. He died three years ago so they celebrated him every year. The whole family gathered to celebrate him, but my husband and I host everyone. "Sure. I'll just switch off the oven now." I quickly rush to off it. She rolled her eyes and walked away. My husband came in just in that moment. "And what's up with her now?" Jaxon said in his deep voice. He had grown extra the couple past years I barely recognized him with his tummy slightly protruding. "I just stepped in now and saw the brownies were getting burnt!"I explained while taking out the brownies from the oven. "We might
