6. The Gold Digger?

Maya introduced herself warmly, extending her hand to Leo and giving him a sweet smile. In her heart, she was surprised that the blond man named Leo seemed to be taken aback by her name. Was it really that unfamiliar name?

"Maya?" Leo asked again, his eyes widening and squinting alternatively, showing genuine confusion.

"Yes, that's right. Maya!" Maya replied, a little confused but still smiling. Her eyebrows were raised with curiosity about Leo's behavior. It was the first time someone had been surprised by her name.

"So... you're Maya?" Leo asked again, making Maya increasingly annoyed.

"Yes, that's right. M. A. Y. A. Maya!" Maya spelled out her name with patience.

"Oh, Maya!" Leo nodded.

Maya restrained herself, then nodded while still smiling innocently. She then pulled her hand away because Leo had held it for too long and too tightly. It was probably unintentional, as Leo's mind was currently preoccupied with something else.

Hearing the name Maya reminded Leo of Adam's gold-digger wife that Sabrina had talked about last night. That Maya was completely opposite to Maya in front of him.

To make sure, Leo looked at Maya's left hand and was surprised to see that she was wearing a wedding ring. "You're already married?"

"Yes, I just got married and honeymooned here," Maya answered. Her round eyes looked at Leo with happiness radiating from them, making Leo's heart tremble. The smile on Leo's face gradually disappeared.

"So, where is your husband? You're on your honeymoon, right?" Leo asked through gritted teeth. If his suspicion was correct and the naive woman in front of him was Adam's wife, then her answer would match what he was thinking.

"My husband suddenly had a business meeting with an old client at another hotel nearby. He'll be there for four days and then come back to pick me up here," Maya answered with detail. She didn't suspect that the Adonis in front of her was investigating her identity.

Reflexively, Leo clenched his fist. For some reason, he didn't have a deep sense of hatred when Sabrina told him about it, but it was different when Maya told him. Currently, Adam and Sabrina were having fun, leaving Maya wandering around looking for activities to keep her schedule occupied.

Leo glanced at Maya while sipping his drink. His heart was hurt by other people's actions toward each other. Why did he have to get involved in someone else's broken household? Maybe it would be best to stay away from Maya and not get involved any further. Given his tendency to behave like a hero, Leo knew exactly when he should back away.

Maya's aura, more like a helpless little animal, made Leo want to protect her from the first time he saw her lifting the heavy box. Moreover, at this moment, Leo knew exactly what was happening behind the scenes. Something hundreds of times heavier than just a box of milk and biscuits. The gentle-hearted player would never be able to sit still and watch all of this.

That's why Leo was determined to step away immediately. Although his body was very heavy to do so, his logic forced him to leave the poor woman.

"If that's the case, I'll leave then! I hope you have a pleasant vacation!" Leo bid farewell to Maya with a forced smile. His heart ached. He felt like a cruel person who would simply walk away upon seeing an animal with its leg trapped under a fallen tree.

"Wait!" Maya stopped him. She took something out of her purse and gave him two half-heart-shaped silver necklaces that would become completely heart-shaped when combined. "This is a gift for you! Give the other half to your partner, I'm sure they will like it!" Maya said with her characteristic cheerful voice. Then she added, "The seller said it's a necklace of eternal love. Men may not like it, but women will surely love it."

"Isn't this for you... and your husband?" Leo asked hesitantly. His heart became more restless and uncertain. As if accepting the necklace from Maya would bring him a curse.

Maya shook her head, "I can buy it again. Don't worry, it was not expensive. It's just a common item. Don't be so hesitant! I'm a cheapskate. I always buy cheap things. Hahaha."

Maya showed off her beautiful white teeth while raising her right hand, urging Leo to open and accept her gift. "Well, goodbye! You can go now!"

As if under a spell, Leo could only stare in disbelief as he received Maya's gift. His feelings were unsettled. He intended to leave the innocent woman in front of him to face the bitter and corrupt marriage on his own. But what did he receive in return?

He didn't know. With a blank mind, Leo walked away from Maya, who kept waving at him even though he didn't see it. Leo couldn't take his eyes off the silver necklace given by Maya. He didn't know how long it lasted. Until Leo realized that he hadn't thanked the woman who had given him a gift. A gift that shattered his heart like a settlement suddenly hit by a storm.

Meanwhile, Adam and Sabrina were spending time together happily. The couple was busy flirting and teasing each other as if the world belonged to them. Sweat soaked the bodies of the lovers, who were drunk with love. The hotel room emitted a scent of romance. Shouts of passion filled the air, worshipping each other, until they reached the edge and fell together in ecstasy.

"Adam!" Sabrina exclaimed as she approached the peak of pleasure.

"Sabrina!" Adam responded after they both fell together into the bottomless abyss of pleasure.

They then rested due to exhaustion. Their breaths, which were once racing, had now become regular.

Adam, who was feeling happy, then said, "Thank you, Bree! As usual, you're always energetic."

Sabrina just turned and smiled cynically. She then said in a curt tone, "You said we were going to have fun, but where are we now? You haven't taken me out of the room this whole time!"

"Sorry, love! You are so beautiful and more tempting than anything out there!" Adam flirted, hoping that his sweet talk would improve his woman's mood.

Actually, in his heart, Adam didn't feel at ease about taking Sabrina out even though the hotel they were staying in was far enough from Maya's reach. Even if they used a car, it would take a two-hour journey. It was unlikely that they would be caught lying. However, anxiety still lingered in Adam's mind and heart.

"Let's go out and take a walk! I want to do something else too!" whined Sabrina, hitting her sweaty and muscular husband's back. "Not just stay in bed!"

"So, you don't like spending the day with me here anymore?" Adam asked, still trying to persuade Sabrina not to ask to go out.

"I don't care! You promised me!" Sabrina snapped, throwing her phone onto the headboard. This time, Adam knew that his lover was truly angry.

Rather than risking a fight like before, Adam finally gave in. He pushed away the fear that was haunting him. For the sake of love, the man fulfilled all the wishes of his beloved. Besides, he remembered that he had promised to give Sabrina a perfect holiday. He couldn't take back his words.

"Okay, let's go out! But..." Apparently, Adam believed that there was no such thing as a free lunch. His eyes glanced at Sabrina with a look that Sabrina could interpret as a 'compensation request.'

"But what?" Sabrina asked, looking disappointed again. Earlier, her beautiful face had been very bright.

"But..." Adam's eyes glanced at the bathroom. Sabrina immediately knew what her husband was asking for.

"Sure, Honey! I'll do anything for a nice walk! I really want to enjoy the sunset with you," exclaimed Sabrina, dragging her husband to the bathroom.

Adam's happiness felt complete today. Being together with Sabrina was a very luxurious thing for him. Moreover, Sabrina was always excited to do new things to make him happy in bed. This side of Sabrina was certainly very different from Maya, who was still innocent.

Once again, Sabrina made Adam feel like a king in a costume drama. The beautiful woman who always made him happy was truly unparalleled.

Adam was being swayed by his mistress. He didn't even know that his wife was lost on the way back to the hotel.

That's right. Right now, Maya was lost.

"Oh, where am I going? It's so deserted, and there's no one here. It doesn't seem like the road I took earlier...."
