Chapter Eighteen

ACE

I stirred in my bed, feeling the soft morning glow from the sun kissing my bare torso through the unfurled curtains before I peeled my eyes open, to meet sight with a very familiar ceiling.

A ceiling I had not opened my eyes to in years.

My childhood bedroom ceiling.

I sat up,definitely surprised and tried to recall why I had fallen asleep here, but instead a monster headache set in.

I groaned at the effect, and I perceived the alcohol in my breath, making me palm my face.

Shit, how much did I drink last night?

And what the fuck happened?

How did I end up here?

I was still rubbing my head to soothe the ache, as I downed Advil tablets, and just in, a pungent smell of burning paper and smoke wafted through my nose, eliciting a cough from me.

Leaving me to wonder where the heck the smell came from.

Wanting to know, I slid the duvet aside, getting out of bed and following the smoke, as I waved my hand around to clear it off.

I got closer to the source, my closet and heard a soft fem
