Blake’s Pov All I wanted was to make some food and take it to Ridge for lunch because it’s been a while since we ate together or since I cooked for him. I carried the tray of food, and gently rested it against my bump before walking from the kitchen to the elevator. His office was not on the ground floor, and walking the stairs wasn’t an option for me at this time. The elevator soon stopped and I walked down the hall to his office, but then as I reached there and raised my hand to knock, I heard the words that made me stopped. I could hear Ridge’s voice, and Finn, and he was asking Finn why he needed Clarissa’s sample. At first, I was lost, but soon I realized they were talking about the DNA testing Ridge wanted to do. I stood there listening for a while, before I heard Dr. Finn saying his goodbyes. Quickly, I rounded the corner to leave the doorway so that he wouldn’t meet me there standing and eavesdropping. That wasn’t a good trait to find on a person anyway, not to talk
Ridge’s Pov“Come in,” I said, looking up from my computer. We had just finished talking on the conference call with the two alpha’s Roman and I thought that Ryder was planning to attack to talk about joining forces, and we had been able to finalize what we were going to do. The door of the office opened and Dr. Finn walked in with a grim look on his face. He took a bow and greeted us. “Good afternoon, alpha, beta.” He nodded and Roman nodded as well. “Hello, Finn.” I greeted and waved him to a seat. “Good afternoon, alpha, beta,” he repeated, settling into the chair I pointed to. His expression didn’t ease, and that alone told me this wasn’t a courtesy visit. “Finn,” I said again, leaning back in my chair. “You don’t usually come all the way here unless it’s important.” Roman folded his arms, studying him closely. “So, what’s going on?” Dr. Finn exhaled slowly, as though bracing himself. “It’s about the testing you want to do, Alpha.” I frowned, looking from him to Roman. “
Blake’s Pov It took everything in me to hold back my words to Clarissa as she spoke about me losing one of my babies, like it was something I had done on purpose. I stood there staring, saying nothing. All I did was put a hand on my stomach, like I was trying to not allow my surviving baby hear her. She was just so spiteful, but I didn’t blame her one bit. All I did was ask her why she was still here instead of being at Elaine’s with Honey, her own child, and all this started. I had came downstairs to get my juice, the one Julia had helped me made before she went to my bakery to help out. Ridge was busy in a meeting with the elders, so I was on my own. “You should just give that away when he or she arrives,” she said, pointing to my stomach. “You sure can’t nurture an alpha’s offspring anyway. You’re not built for this life.” I shook my head, finally walking to the fridge to grab the bottle of juice Julia had left there for me. I picked it out, then stood there looking at it
Blake’s PovTrying to find sleep, I rolled and tossed and turned on the ned, hoping that it would come soon, but it didn't. All I could think of was Ridge’s call earlier today, telling me… actually, asking me if I knew who Matteo’s father was. He had asked for a reason, and when I told him I didn't, and asked him why, all he said was, he would let me know when he was sure. Honestly, I wasn't sure I knew what that meant, but I didn't say much. I had nothing much to say about it anyway. It wasn't as if I knew about the life my mother led after she left. Although, I couldn't stop thinking about the question, it made me realize that it was a possibility that my father wasn't his father. When Mom came here and told me about him, about how he was sick and then his age, all I could derive from the story was that she had taken him in before leaving the house, so I assumed it was my father’s. But now, with Ridge’s question, I knew there was a possibility of that not being true. Eit
Ridge’s Pov Blake didn't know about this visit, in fact, she didn't know it was this town I had come for my business meeting. I was here on my own, to bridge the gap between the people involved here. I knew she wanted nothing to do with her mother right now, especially after everything, and she sure was too angry to see she shouldn't take it out on her brother, but that was why I was here, so that when she was ready to see and face him, he wouldn't think she had rejected her. I knew what rejection felt like, especially back then when Clarissa always made a fool out of me, rejecting being together for as little as something insignificant. And I would be damned if I let Blake’s little brother grow up thinking she felt that way about him. He was a child, innocent, caught in the middle of things he never asked for. Someone had to step in until Blake was ready, and that someone was me. I was her husband anyway, so in a way, it was my duty to do so. That was why I was here without he
Ridge’s Pov The hospital was large, the largest I had actually ever seen in towns like this, and my driver’s voice sounded in my ear. “We've arrived, sir.” he said, and I nodded. Well, I knew that, but I didn't say anything. Pushing open the car door, I walked out and then I said. “Pack and stay in the car while I do what I came here to do. I'll speak with you when I'm done to come out front.” He nodded. “Okay boss. I'll be right here waiting.” he said. With that, I turned back to the hospital entrance as started to walk towards it. Before I could get to the front entrance, two doctors came walking out. “Hello, Mr. Sterling.” they greeted me as they walked towards me and I nodded. “Dr. Shipla?” I asked and the woman nodded. “Yes, Mr. Sterling. I'm the medical director of the hospital. Dr. Regal told me you'll be coming by. I'm incredibly grateful you decided to donate to us.” she said, and I nodded. “With me is…” before she could finish the introduction, the middle aged
