Chapter 2

EZRA'S POV

Where could she be, huh?

What's happening?

Can someone explain it to me?

First, it was Rosa passing out at the cliff, and now, a girl getting stuck.

Rosa was here a few minutes ago, telling me to make sure the girl gets treated including her parents, and now, I can't find Rosa.

She was right here before me.

“I need to meet Mirabel…it's not something a wolf like me will have the idea of but I think a witch should know. Everything is just so strange.”

I walked out of the room and down to the yard to meet Iskrat, “hey!” I smiled at her, "good afternoon, sir!" she greeted with her head bowed.

She was sweeping the yard along with some other servants.

“Do you have some minutes to spare?”

“Yes, sir.” She smiled back and passed her broom to one of the servants, “make sure everyone gets their work done.” She cautioned, “I'll be right back.”

And after attending to her fellows, she followed behind me, smiling sheepishly.

I know Iskrat has a crush on me so smiling always at me is not my problem, the issue at hand is the real problem for now.

We walked towards the veranda and found a bench to sit on, “c'mon, take a seat,” I beckoned as I patted a space on the bench, and she sat, blushing heavily.

“How's the Alpha's welfare now, Sir?” She asked immediately after taking a seat.

“She's getting better, I think, but there's something more confusing…” I paused and nudge my head to the left in a bewildered manner, and I bet, I saw her eyes flicker.

"What's happening, Sir?”

“It's about Rosa,” I started and she sighed an “oh”.

Hmm. I shouldn't expect more from her. Nobody loves Rosa here so it's just normal to ignore her matters sometimes.

I continued, “if you can remember what caused her ailment which is very unusual, according to what Mirabel told us,” and she nodded.

“She said the cliff has some dark auras sucking on her powers.”

“Yeah,” I sided with her, “and it was as a result of a strong spell cast around the area.”

“Do you know who might cause that, Sir?” She asked while I nodded a “no!”

“Not yet! But something more dangerous is attached to that cliff.” I said, and I could feel some worries in her.

“Is it something that could harm the pack?”

“I really hope so 'cause something happened this afternoon,” I started and she listened attentively.

“I went out for an emergency at the cliff today, it was a girl…” I narrated the whole story to her.

“Don't you think it might be the Alpha? I mean she's the only one who knows what exactly is happening, and you know how she might be. She might be the one who cast the spell, who knows?” She stated with a shrug.

“She's not the one, I know for sure. The only help I want from you now is that you should get some guards to set a notice. No one must get close to the area till it's all solved.”

“Yes, Sir.”

And with that, I dismissed her, and I made to leave back to the building when a sudden scream ran out.

“RETREAT EVERYONE!” It was the guards.

What's happening? I thought in fright.

Why should all these be happening when everyone is confused and doesn't know what's really happening?

And Rosa is nowhere to be found too?

“Sir? Ezra? Please wake up…” I heard people calling my name from afar.

It seems like my ears were so distant from the voices, the familiar voices.

“I can feel his closeness, y'all should keep quiet!” Rosa shouted.
