Alina Ysabelle Allard has lived her whole life behind gilded walls, the only daughter and heiress of a powerful business tycoon. Raised to be flawless, she knows her worth depends on meeting impossible standards, being the best, never questioning orders, and sacrificing everything for family legacy. When her father arranges her engagement to Lance Villion, the eldest son of another influential family, Alina forces herself to accept what duty demands. Yet buried memories whisper of someone else, a boy she once shared secrets and tears with, though his face feels lost to time. Leon Claude Villion, the younger son, grew up invisible in his father’s eyes. Overshadowed by his brother, Leon’s quiet rebellion was his unspoken devotion to Alina, the girl he once knew beyond the masks wealth and power demand. For years, Leon watched from a distance, unable to speak, unable to forget. When fate brings them together again, Alina doesn’t recognize him. And when Leon learns she’s being forced into marriage with his own brother, the love he hides turns into a burning resolve to change destiny itself. As a contract marriage looms, betrayal reveals itself. Leon must choose between family loyalty and claiming the only woman who ever truly mattered. Alina must decide how far she’ll bend under her father’s shadow and whether it’s worth losing her heart to keep his love. In a world ruled by power, secrets, and blood, how far will they go for love that was never meant to be?
View More“What now, Alina? Is that all you’ve got?!” Tristan shouted while dodging my attacks. He even has that smug look on his face while doing it. I don’t give a damn about what he’s saying right now, he just wants me to lose control.
“Is that all you can say, Tristan?!”
Tristan laughed and again continued dodging every attack, so I threw another one. He is really getting on my nerves, but I stayed calm.
“Stop saying nonsense things, Alina! Come on, land a single hit! Don’t just stand there talking!”
“Says the one who keeps on running…”
I used the staff to carry my weight, then twisted my body and kicked him. Because of that, he lost his balance. It’s now my time to smirk.
I didn’t waste any time and quickly charged towards him. I pinned him down, getting ready to punch him in the face, when suddenly I heard someone cough in the corner.
I shot an irritated glance at the person who barged in out of nowhere. It’s one of my father’s bodyguards. I didn’t move…my fist was still raised, but I hesitated to continue.
“If I were you? I’d go ahead and finish this...” Tristan said while grinning.
“Shut up!” I stood up and went to the person who just ruined my training. The bodyguard handed me a towel, and I immediately wiped the sweat on my face. He simply kept his head down, quietly waiting for me to finish.
“Miss Alina, your father wants you to go to the east study.”
“East study? For what? As far as I remember, I have already done some of the paperwork he handed me last week.” Papa gave me a 1-month file to be familiar with how our company works, but why? Don’t tell me he will give me another set? I mentally massaged my temples because of the frustration.
“I really don’t know Miss Alina your father just says it, and I’m just following his order.”
“Fine. Just tell him I’m on my way.” He bowed his head and left.
I turned to Tristan, who was still on the floor.
“What? Are you just gonna stare at the ceiling or not?” I snapped. He sat up slowly, not removing that annoying grin on his face. If we hadn’t been cut off? I’d have wiped that smug grin off his face already.
“Relax Alina. I just found you cute when you’re mad.” What the fuck?
I threw the towel at him. “Shut up!”
He caught it with one hand and laughed. “But seriously, your kick is solid. You almost had me.”
“Almost? You were on the floor! Dumbass.”
He stood up and stretched his neck. “Why hesitate to finish me? You can knock me off, Alina… you already have the chance.”
I didn’t react right away. He’s right. Tristan is right. I had the chance to finish him, but I stopped just because a person came to us.
“'Cause you’re scared”
“I’m not scared…” I said and looked away.
I didn’t wait for his response and hurriedly walked to the door. If he wanted to say anything, save it to himself. I don’t care about his side after all.
I fixed my messy hair and glanced at myself for a moment. Joggers fit neatly at the ankle, paired with a loose, sleeveless top and an open hoodie. I think I look fine, aside from my clothes being sweaty… there’s really no problem. Besides, Papa knows I have my training today, so he expects me to look like this.
As I approached the east study, I started hearing voices I wasn’t familiar with. I could also hear my father’s occasional laughter. This is the first time I’ve heard him like this. It’s as if he is really interested in the people he’s talking to. This is so new.
I’m now standing in front of the door, and I can hear the voices even more clearly. I still don’t know who they are. Two people? No…three?
I knocked on the door and quickly wiped the sweat off my cheek. I stood there quietly, waiting for Papa to realize I was outside and tell me to come in. Just a few seconds passed before he replied, “You can come in now, Alina.”
I slowly opened the door, careful not to make a sound. And just like I thought, three unfamiliar faces sat across from Papa. As soon as I walked in, they all immediately turned to look at me. I made my way toward Papa’s seat without a word, and yet the three strangers couldn’t seem to look away. Seriously? Do I not look presentable? What were they expecting? Heels and a silk dress fresh from a gala?
As I walked closer, you could see it in Papa’s eyes, like he was silently telling the world, ‘That’s my daughter.’ I lifted my chin and kept my gaze forward, choosing not to give a single look to the three men.
“Finally, you’re here, Alina. Everyone, this is my daughter, Alina Ysabelle Allard. Stunning, isn’t she? Well, naturally, it runs in the blood. And clearly, she got it from me.” Papa said and laughed. He’s always proud of me. Like I’m some kind of trophy, and I need to be good at everything. But when it comes to love? As a father? I can’t feel it. He always reminds me, ‘Go beyond, as far as you can. Don’t stay stuck at that level. What’s the point of being an Allard? Of being my child?’
I cleared my throat and bowed my head. One of the three stepped forward, and I guessed he was their father. They all looked alike, but I could sense that he was a strict person. He extended his hand with a smile. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Ms. Alina. I’m Lucas Villion, and the two gentlemen with me are my sons…”
We started walking toward the parking lot, and she didn't pull her hand away... she just let me hold it until we reached my car. I don't know if it was the effect of the alcohol, but I couldn't bring myself to let go of her hand until I opened the door. She quickly sat down in the passenger seat while I walked around to get into the driver's side. Part of me wanted to punch myself. Why the hell was I even nervous? You're just taking her home, Leon. What else are you thinking? And I was honestly caught off guard when, as soon as I sat down, Alina was looking right at me. She was staring intently, and for a moment, it felt like I couldn't even move my hands. I know it's been years since I've been this close to her, but she still has that same effect on me. It felt like my whole system couldn't handle the way she was looking at me right now."A Jaguar, huh?" I heard her say, her gaze no longer on me. She looked closely around the interior of my car, then suddenly smirked."It's cool. I l
She only looked at me for a moment before quickly pulling her hand away again. I couldn't read her... I didn't know if she was angry that I dragged her out like that, or angry simply because she saw me. A sharp pain settled in my chest. Yes, it hurts knowing everything I've learned... but it hurts even more to see her trying to avoid me."What? You're going to tell Dad? Tell him I'm here in some bar, drinking and trying to forget?! I don't even know what I'm doing anymore! I've done everything just to get his attention! I follow everything he wants! But fuck, I feel like I'm about to explode from all of this!"That's when my drunken haze completely faded...she was crying... Alina was crying, right in front of me. I could see her finally breakdown and let out her anger, just like the very first time I ever saw and talked to her ten years ago."I do everything he asks! I always follow him, even if it means giving up what I truly want, because it's been drilled into my head that I have t
LeonI was in the office when my assistant, Marco, suddenly walked in. I didn’t bother to look at him and just kept reading through the other documents. He cleared his throat for a moment, and that’s when I finally looked up. As I stared at him, I could see the unease quickly spread across his face.Just how important could what he has to say be to interrupt me like this?“Ah, Sir Leon, the CEO asked me to let you know that you have somewhere important to go right now. He is already on his way down to the parking area and asked if you could hurry, please.” I didn’t say anything and just motioned for Marco to leave the room. What’s this important trip even for? And Dad had to ask my assistant to call me himself? Besides, why me? Isn’t it always Lance he brings along? To him, I’m nothing more than an eyesore anyway.I didn’t bother thinking about it anymore and just put on my coat. I walked out of my office and headed straight to the elevator. I was about to press the button when a hand
Veronica’s clearly up to something again. The last time she gave me that look, I ended up squeezing through a crowd and fighting over books at a sale. All she said was she just needed me to come with her to buy a book she wanted.I could see her pretending to pout as she wiped away imaginary tears. Then she gave me those sad, pleading eyes and acted even more hurt just because I said no. I’m not falling for her tactics this time.“Come on, Ali, just say yes. It’s not like we’re about to rob someone or what.”“No, Veronica, you’re always the one who tricks me with those things.” I made it clear to her that I’m not falling for her pity acts. She acted even more pitiful and suddenly let out a sigh.“Alright, I guess there’s no way I can convince you anymore. Thanks for everything though. You don’t want to share what’s bothering you, and you won’t even listen to me. Honestly, what’s the point?” She was playing the best friend card on me. Just as Veronica was about to stand up, I stopped h
“You’ll be marrying his eldest son, Lance…”“That exam was tough! I feel like I forgot everything I studied last night. How about you, Alina? Were you able to answer everything? Anyway, even if you didn’t review, you’re still smart.”“You’ll be marrying his eldest son, Lance…”“I feel like I might fail again, ugh. But I guess Dad won’t be too mad if I retake it for the third time haha…”“You’ll be marrying his eldest son, Lance…”“Hey Ali, are you even listening? Don’t tell me you had a hard time with the test? Nahh, I don’t believe that! I know you too well, bff. Even if you just glance at your notes, you’ll still end up the top scorer. Gosh, I wish I had a brain like yours. I stay up late studying, and I still feel dumb.”“You’ll be marrying his eldest son, Lance…”“Alina, can you hear me? Hey, I’m talking to you!”“… marrying his eldest son, Lance…”“Alina! Come back to Earth! I’ve been talking for a while now! Are you even listening? Can you hear me?”“… marrying…Lance…”“Damn it,
I offered a polite smile to Mr. Villion. The two men behind him stepped forward and extended their hands to me. As soon as I touched the hand of one of his sons, a wave of nervousness hit me. It felt like he had been expecting to see me… he gripped my hand firmly, almost as if he had no intention of letting go.“Oh, sorry, I was just a bit stunned to meet you, Ms. Alina. I’m Lance Villion,” he said, possibly noticing the way I looked at his hand, which still hadn’t let go of mine. He smiled, but something about that smile felt off…a quiet unease crept inside of me. I simply nodded, keeping my reaction to myself. Then the last person approached me. When he offered his hand, I felt a different kind of nervousness, far from what I felt with Lance. We stared at each other for a long moment, neither of us willing to break the gaze. I felt my heart skip a beat as our eyes locked. It was only interrupted when Mr. Villion cleared his throat from the side. I pulled my hand back quickly. Was I
