Chapter 115: The Best Day

Megan's POV

I could feel the hammering of my heart as I sat beside Ashton on the coaster van while our son was seated in between his grandparents, while my beloved elder brother had settled himself on the front seat, and he was talking with Ashton's driver.

Alice was having a lively conversation with Ava while she was beside her boyfriend, who happens to be my groom's best friend. And this is the best day of my entire life because I have my family with me together with my best friend, and of course, Ashton.

I felt my groom squeeze my palm, and when I raised my head, I found him staring at me, and the beautiful smile I could see on his face told me he also felt so happy and excited.

"Are you alright, Meg?" Ashton softly whispered in my ear, and I could feel the hair at the back of my neck stand up, and I had knots on my stomach as I watched his eyes linger on my lips.

"Of course, I only felt a little nervous," I responded, and he released my hand, and then he caressed my face.

"You don't need to feel nervous, Megan, because on this day, I am going to make you my wife." He responded, and I could tell my face turned bright red as I felt his intense gaze penetrate deeper into my core.

"I wanted to make it a surprise, but I don't want you to hate me, and I want to make sure you are with me on this because being married means we will be living under the same roof, and more children to come." He said, and I giggled.

"Of course, I am aware of that, and there is nothing I want right now but to be with you, and I am so excited to become your wife, Ashton," I responded, and his face lit up.

"Thank you, Megan, me too; how I wished you were my wife now, and we are on our way to our honeymoon." He managed to say, and my eyes widened in shock.

"Don't be surprised, my dearest bride; it is expected after the wedding celebration, a honeymoon will follow." He said in more than a whisper, and I could feel the butterflies on my chest.

"Wow, that is unexpected, but how about our son and the rest of my family and yours?" I asked, and he laughed.

"I know you will be asking me that question, and I got that covered; they all knew about my honeymoon plan, so all of us will be going to my grandpa's resort," he responded.

And I couldn't express the overwhelming happiness that I felt as he pulled me closer to him, and I smiled when he kissed my forehead before putting my head on his shoulder.

"Are you excited?" My best friend asked when we arrived at the city hall, and we were on our way to the mayor's office.

"Of course, Alice, I had been waiting for this moment, and right now that this is happening; I am still in shock but so happy, and moments from now, I will become Mrs. Megan Pritzgold, and I couldn't wait for Axel to bring his dad's family name," I said excitedly while my best friend was grinning from ear to ear.

"I am so happy for you, Meg; where is Ashton, by the way?" She asked me while she was looking around the area for Ashton as we arrived in front of the Mayor's office.

"Ashton was waiting for his siblings, and he said they are on their way," I responded, and she was covering her mouth with her hands as I could see her eyes got so big.

"You mean Isabelle would be here?" Alice asked in more than a whisper, and I could tell she was careful not to raise her voice and afraid that Dexter would hear our conversation, and I smiled when Leslie greeted us, and she assisted us in going inside.

"Oh, no, today is not all about you, my dearest best friend," Alice added as she handed me my bouquet.

My best friend looked around the area, and I could tell she searched for my brother. I don't know if Dexter knew he would be seeing his first love for the first time after so many years, and I hope they will rekindle their love for each other because I could tell the reason Isabelle broke up with his fiance was that she was still in love with my brother.

Multiple times I offered him money to pay off his debt to Isabelle's dad, but he didn't accept it since he wanted to prove himself. I wondered what would be Gregory's reaction after he found out I married his son today, and I am sure he will never accept me as his daughter-in-law, but I will never be afraid of him.

I had so many worst moments that I don't want to remember them, but I knew they were part of who I am. No matter how I wish to forget and bury those unwanted memories, they will haunt me forever, and I need to embrace them to move on with my life. One of those undesirable recollections was when Ashton abandoned me and Gael betrayed me.

They are the two important men in my life aside from my father and brother; since they are family. And Gael knew I would forever be in love with Ashton, and I will never choose him, and I know after today, I have to see Gael and tell him about my marriage with his rival.

"Yeah, and I am more nervous for Isabelle and Dexter; I couldn't imagine what would happen next to their love story, knowing they are still in love with each other," I responded.

"Oh, that would be so exciting, and I couldn't wait to know how their love story would unfold," she replied, and she looked so adorable as she giggled.

"I feel the same way too, and my excitement is killing me because I couldn't wait to become Ashton's wife while I felt so excited for Belle and Dexter's first meeting after more than a decade," I said, and her smile widened.

"Of course, and if I were in your shoes, I don't think I could still have a sane conversation with anyone because I am sure I would be over the edge, and I couldn't contain my excitement, and you are marrying the hottest bachelor in the country, and I couldn't believe you are my best friend, I felt so lucky and privileged to celebrate this special

moment with you, Megan." My best friend declared, and I hugged her.

"You know my wedding day will not be complete without you, Alice, and I hope you know by now how much you mean to me, I am so proud and happy you are my best friend, and if I have to live again, I will still choose you to be my best friend," I responded, and she embraced me tightly. I only let her go when I heard my fiance clear his throat.

"I am sorry to disturb you ladies, but we have a wedding to attend," Ashton said while Alice laughed as she let me go.

"You have to love her forever, Ashton, and protect her from anything, and thank you for making this wise decision of marrying my best friend today." She said.

"Of course, Alice, don't worry; I will love her to infinity and beyond," my fiance responded, and Alice smiled at Ashton before she turned around and joined her boyfriend at the back. Ashton took my hand, and he introduced me to his friend, the Mayor of Majuscule.

"No wonder Ashton is so eager to marry you, Megan, and I think we should start the wedding ceremony now since I don't want to prolong my friend's agony in marrying his beautiful bride." The Mayor said.

I couldn't stop blushing while I could hear the laughter of our family members, and I felt so happy that Alice and Zachary would be our witnesses who would sign the marriage certificate.

The Mayor started the civil ceremony, and it felt surreal that I was marrying Ashton after all the hardships, pains, and tears that I had shed.

The mayor added, and I could hear the cheers of our family members and friends, and I could feel the knots on my stomach the moment Ashton captured my mouth, and we sealed our marriage with a long passionate kiss, and my husband only let me go when we heard the mayor clear his throat.

"I think you can continue kissing your wife on your honeymoon, buddy," the Mayor declared, and Ashton laughed so hard together with the entire crowd.

Our family members showered us with their congratulations, and I was shocked when I found Ashton's mom smiling at us.

"Welcome to our family, Megan, and I felt so happy that you marry my son." She said, and I felt so happy that she was able to attend our wedding ceremony,

when she took me into her arms, I could no longer stop my tears of happiness from trickling down my face.

"Thank you for coming, Mrs. Pritzgold," I responded.

"From now on, you should call me mom," she replied with a broad smile all over her face.

The picture-taking followed, and Ashton took me into his arms once again, and when I felt our son's arms around us, I realized this was the best day of my entire existence, and my joy doubled when I could see the happiness of everyone around us.

 I smiled as I looked at the wedding ring on my finger, and I want to shout so the whole world would know that I am now happily married to Ashton Pritzgold.
