Ashton's POV

"Hello, Mrs. Pritzgold, welcome to the venue of our honeymoon, my beloved wife, and I hope you like it, Meg," I said to Megan when we arrived at grandpa Henry's resort.

"Are you kidding me, Ashton? I love the whole place, and I love you so much," she responded, and my heart melted, and I smiled from ear to ear as I looked at my beautiful wife.

"I love you more, Megan, and now that you are finally my wife, no one can separate us, and I promise whatever problem we are going to face, we will become stronger because we have each other, and I am sure our love for one another will see us through," I responded as I pulled her closer to me.

We didn't have a program because we will be doing it at our grand wedding, and for now, we are here in the resort for the entire week to enjoy and celebrate our union and to spend more time with our families, and I couldn't wait to be alone with my wife later tonight.

We will be joining our families on the alfresco to have our dinner, and we are on the balcony of our room watching the swimming pool below; we can see the pine trees all over the place, which makes the breeze colder at this place.

"Thank you, Ashton, for making me your wife," she said after a while, and I caressed her beautiful face.

"I should be the one thanking you, Meg, and I don't know how to tell you how happy you made me today. I am the happiest man all over the world when you said yes, Megan, and I want to celebrate our wedding day together with our loved ones, and I want you to forget all the worries you have because from now on, I will be there with you every step of the way." I responded.

"I will be here to protect you, Meg, and to love you more with each passing day together with our son; thank you will never be enough to express how happy I am right now; you complete me, Megan Corteza Pritzgold," I said, and it sounded perfect in my ears, and I love the way I said it. I will never get tired of calling Megan my beautiful wife.

"I want to spend this one week with you without thinking about the pressure of our work and those people who wanted to tear us apart; from now on, I want you to tell me all your worries and problems, Meg, and I will make your burden lighter," I added. The beautiful smile on her face makes me feel so contented.

We could see Axel with his aunt Isabelle beside the pool, and I could tell he wanted to swim right away, but my sister was telling him to ask permission from us. His face lit up when he saw us on the balcony, and he waved at us; he left my sister and got inside the main entrance of the vacation house, and I could see my sister waving her hand at us.

My dad was the only member of our family who didn't join us, even Cole's boyfriend came, and almost everyone was resting in their respective room except for my sister, and I know Bell wanted to have a word with me because of Dexter.

I could feel the tension inside the Mayor's office when my family arrived before the wedding ceremony started. I watched how surprised Dexter was, but he couldn't deny he was happy to see Isabelle after so many years of not seeing my sister.

"I wanted to talk with Gael after our honeymoon, Ashton," Megan said as she looked at me, and I could see the worries on her face.

"Okay, I understand you want to tell him in person, but I hope you will allow me to come with you; I know Gael's personality; he could be dangerous because I witnessed how much he wanted to have you without realizing he was hurting you in the process." I declared.

"I am your husband now, Megan, and I know he cares and loves you, but he became obsessed with you, Meg, and I don't want to give Gael another chance to hurt you," I added.

"When he posted that video, he didn't think of how you will feel; all he cared about was to ruin what we have no matter whether you would be affected by his actions or not, and his selfishness made him a threat to your safety." I continued.

"I know, of course, you can come with me, Ashton." She responded with a beautiful smile on her face.

"I felt relieved," I responded.

"Mom! Dad!" Axel was calling us, and we both turned around and looked at our son, running toward us.

"Careful, buddy," I said, and he smiled at me; I loved watching the happiness on our son's face, and he hugged us both.

"What do you want, Axel?" My wife asked our son, and he gave us his puppy eyes, and I knew right away he wanted to ask something.

"Can I swim now?" He asked, and I looked him in the eyes and nodded.

"Of course, son, I will swim with you while your mom takes a rest," I responded.

"Who says I will stay here, I will come with you, but I don't have swimming attire; I can't join you in the water," Megan said.

"You have your swimsuits in the cabinet drawer; I asked Ava to take care of your swimming attire, you have more than ten pairs, and I hope it would be enough," I responded, and she laughed as she looked at me.

"Ten pairs? That is so many, Ashton; two pairs of two-piece would be enough for me, and thank you for taking good care of everything for me." Megan said, and I grinned at her.

"Mom, dad, you need to hurry, guys; aunt Isabelle said; I needed to swim together with you," Axel said as he walked inside our room, and Ashton held my hand as we followed him with happy smiles on our faces.

"Wow! This is great, dad! I thought the water would be freezing, but it is warm," Axel said as he swam with me while Megan remained on the chaise lounge talking with my sister.

I let our son enjoy the water, and he swam happily in the water.

"Dad," he said.

"Yes, Axel," I answered.

"Your father is my grandfather, right?" He asked, and I was shocked by his question.

"Yes, son, he is your grandpa," I responded.

"Why is he not here to celebrate your wedding with mom? Is he okay, dad?" My son asked, and I didn't know how to answer him, and I tried to smile at him.

"He is okay, Axel, but your grandpa Gregory is a busy person, and he couldn't make it, but I promise him to take you there at his house, and he will be waiting for you," I replied, and I could see the excitement all over his face.

"Wow, that would be nice, dad; I am excited to meet him, and I heard he owned boats, and you have many yachts in your hometown." He said, and I smiled at him.

"Axel, our family, owned a shipping company, and yes, your granddad owns lots of boats in all sizes," I answered, and I felt sad as I remembered the last conversation I had with my father.

I know my dad doesn't acknowledge Axel to become my successor in the future because he disapproves of Megan, and he wants me to marry Claire. I felt glad that right now, I am married to Megan, and my father can do nothing about it, and I don't know what would be the effect of my decision.

Good thing I am no longer afraid of what might come our way in the future because I was more worried about losing the woman I love the most in this world, and marrying Megan was the best decision I have ever made my entire life, not even the time I decided to go pro in playing football could compare the happiness and contentment I feel as of the moment.

And watching my wife having an interesting conversation with my sister, I don't want the entire week to end. Our son got so hungry after his swimming episode, and he asked for snacks, and Ava was so excited to feed her nephew, and when dinner came, Axel couldn't join us because our son fell asleep in my lap after he had taken his afternoon snacks. I carried him to the room he was sharing with his aunt Ava.

Our son asked permission from us that on the first night of our vacation, he would sleep beside his aunt Ava and, on the following night, with Isabelle. On successive nights, he would spend his nights with his uncles, and I could tell he loved being pampered by everyone since he was the only kid, and all of us gave our attention to him.

The dinner was superb, and I could feel the love and happiness around us. I had a beautiful conversation with my brothers and Megan's siblings while holding Megan's hand under the table. At the same time, I noticed my elder sister was silent during the entire dinner, and I found Dexter stealing glances at her, and I didn't know if they had talked with each other already, and I wished they would have the closure that they needed.

After dinner, the girls decided to have fun together with my wife in the swimming pool, while the boys agreed to have a drink on the beachfront together with my father-in-law.

"Congratulations, Ashton, you were so busy following my sister around after the wedding that I don't have the time to congratulate you. Welcome to our family, and thank you for making my sister happy and making her dreams come true." Dexter said as he sat beside me on the sand.

"Thank you, Dex," I replied happily.

"I hope you will never hurt her again," Megan's brother stated.

"Dex, I already told you before that I will love Megan forever, and I paid the price of hurting your sister, and I will never make the same mistake again; I love your sister, and hurting her is the last thing I will ever do," I replied, and he beamed at me as he raised his glass. We made a toast, and I got up and faced the ocean, and I shouted loud enough to make everyone in the resort hear me, especially the woman who owned my heart.

"I love you, Megan Pritzgold, my beautiful wife!" The boys cheered after I shouted the declaration of my love to my wife, and I could say I am happily married now, and all I want to do is spend my entire life loving my wife.

I was unlucky today; maybe the fishes on the lake felt the anxiousness that I felt in my heart.I was still apprehensive about my father's change of heart, and I couldn't stop myself from wondering if he was true to his words. My dad already fooled us once when he acted; he was so eager to meet and be with my wife, only to find out the truth later that he had another thing on his mind, and that was to humiliate my wife in front of everyone during the party he threw for us.He couldn't blame me if I doubted his intention at the moment.
