Megan's POV

Ashton doesn't need to tell me what his father said to him. I could say it was all Clark's disapproval of Axel and me.

"Meg, can we go to your house?" Ashton asked while I put Axel's clothes in the cabinet, and I stopped what I was doing and looked at him.

"When?" I asked.

"Maybe tonight we can visit your parents while Axel is with my brothers," he replied.

"Why all of a sudden?" I inquired, and I could tell something was going on.

"Well, I know you will oppose my plan, but you are now my wife, Megan; I think it should be about time to invite your parents to join us this coming Saturday." He responded, and my eyes widened in shock.

"My love, we had talked about that matter, and you know my answer would be a no," I replied.

"Dad told me to invite your family," my husband answered, and I became more surprised.

"Are you sure about that?" I asked, and he nodded his head with a smile on his face while I was still unable to believe what he said.

"I know you have doubts, but I am telling you the truth, and you know that I will never lie to you; I was even shocked that my father asked me to invite your entire family," Ashton replied.

"You don't need to be hesitant since I am not the only one who is allowed to bring guests, it was shocking to my siblings too, and they started to invite their friends through calls and messages." My husband added.

"But in our case, I wished to invite them in person; I am so excited about it, but it is all up to you. The decision will be all yours because I don't want to have them while you don't want them to come because of your fears that something might happen during the party." Ashton declared.

"This is the first time dad asked us to invite anyone without asking permission from him; all he needed was the number of guests we had and no more names of our guests; unlike when we were growing up, he would screen our guest lists," my husband added.

I could see the sadness on his face, as if he was back in time when he was still young.

"I don't know," I replied.

"Well, it would be okay, but I want to visit them tonight, we are back in Astikoz, and I am sure they are all excited to see us." My husband stated.

I smiled at him, and I didn't want to disappoint him since I knew how much he wanted to introduce my parents to his dad, but Ashton was right. I felt so worried about the outcome of the party.

"Okay, but I think we should bring Axel with us," I answered.

"Dad wanted to spend time with Axel tonight after supper, don't worry, Lennon and Cole promised to look out for our son; I don't think that he is capable of hurting our son, Megan." My husband declared.

"He is my dad, and I could see it on his face that he is happy to be with Axel. Don't worry, and we will visit your parents again tomorrow night with our son." He added, and I smiled at him.

"I know; he only hated me," I replied, unable to hide the pain I felt inside me.

"You know that is not true, he was only disappointed with me that I didn't marry his friend's daughter, and that is why he blamed you," Ashton said as he took my hand.

"Don't try to cover up your dad's hatred towards me, Ashton. It will not make me leave you," I whispered, and he put his forehead in mine, and we stayed that for a long time.

"Don't worry, Meg; I know dad will come around, and he will realize you are the only one for me." My husband responded.

"It would be wonderful if your father welcomed me in his home; it was hard on my part to move around this house with fear that anytime I would commit a mistake or cross paths with your dad." I declared.

"I am aware my presence will only ruin his day, and I hate to think that I needed to see him during meals, but I realized he will always be your father, Ashton, and I needed to show my respect to him even if he shows it to my face that he doesn't approve of me as your wife," I added.

"I am happy that your dad wanted to know

our son; that would be enough for now," I stated as I grinned at him.

Dinner time came, and even if I braced myself facing Ashton's father, I still felt nervous, but I was shocked when Ashton's dad answered my greetings with a smile on his face, and not only that; he even mentioned my first name while we were eating our dinner.

My father-in-law would always call me by my family name, and it felt like I was a stranger to him, but not tonight.

"Megan, did Ashton tell you about the Welcome party this coming Saturday?" Gregory asked me, and I felt overwhelmed with too much happiness, and it felt like I was only dreaming.

"Yes, Sir, Ashton told me about it," I replied.

"Stop calling me Sir, Megan. You are not one of my employees; you are part of the Edgebright family; you are Ashton's wife. You can call me dad or father from now on," he stated, and I was speechless as I stared at Ashton's dad.

I felt my husband's hand take my palm under the table and squeeze it, and that was when I nodded my head at his dad since I found it so hard to reply out of my shock.

I could feel my face turn bright red as I continued eating. I didn't know what happened to Gregory that he suddenly treated me with kindness. Maybe my husband begged him to welcome me into his family.

I could hear their lively conversation with Gregory and his children, and for the first time, I felt like I belonged to Ashton's family. I could tell Ashton's mom was so happy as she talked with me.

Axel was talking to his grandpa, and I felt so happy when I heard Gregory's laughter for the first time, and I realized only my son made him laugh. It was such a fantastic night to celebrate.

"Dad, we will visit Megan's parents tonight," Ashton said to his father.

"Okay, that is good, you can invite them personally, and Megan, tell your parents; I will be waiting for them; please bring your sister and brother too; tell them to join us this coming Saturday." Ashton's dad declared, and I couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear.

"Be careful, Ashton, Megan," Gregory said as he sent us to Ashton's car.

I didn't expect he would send us to the garage together with his beautiful wife, Lenore. Ashton's mom looked so happy, and I knew she wanted to say something regarding her husband's sudden behavior.

"Thanks, dad," Ashton and I said in unison.

"It seemed like my words work on my dad," Ashton said after we drove away from his parents' house.

"I am still in a daze now because of what happened during dinner, I didn't know what you did with your father, but I could say you are the best, my love; you nailed it," I stated as I looked at him with amusement on my face.

"So, what do you think, Meg? Can we invite your parents and siblings?" My husband asked, and I no longer have second thoughts.

"Of course, and I am excited to tell them the good news," I replied, but my face fell as I remembered my brother, I am sure Dexter, won't come.

"I guess your siblings are around," Ashton said after he parked the car beside Dexter's old truck while I could see Ava's sedan beside my father's old car.

"Yeah, they both replied to my text; they are here with our parents," I replied, and Ashton's smile broadened.

My husband got out of the driver's seat, and before I could open my door, he had already opened it for me, and he didn't waste any time; he held me by the waist and heaved me from my seat while I couldn't stop giggling.

"Thanks for always being a gentleman, my love," I said after he put my feet down on the ground.

"You are welcome," he responded, and we walked towards our front porch holding hands, and I could feel the butterflies in my stomach, and it felt like I was back to being eighteen years old again.

"Megan!" My sister exclaimed the moment she opened the door, and she hugged me right aware before she said hi to my husband.

"Come inside, guys; I am sure they will be happy to see you," Ava said happily, and we followed her. My parents were delighted to see us; they welcomed us with a big hug, and Dexter took me into his arms, and he shook hands with Ashton after he released me from his embrace.

"A party?" Ava asked with her eyes wide open, and I couldn't stop laughing as I watched her reaction.

"Yes, on behalf of my family, I want to invite you all to my parent's house this coming Saturday since my dad will be hosting a welcome party for my wife and son," Ashton said. My sister was screaming with excitement while I could see the worried look on my father and mother's faces.

"Don't worry, it would be okay, mom, dad; Ashton's dad asked us to invite you so you can finally meet him," I assured my parents, and I could tell they were excited about the upcoming party.
