"Do you know who it was?" Noa asked, confused.

The manager of the bank shook his head. "I apologize, but that is private. We are unable to disclose such information.”

“But—“

"I'm sorry, we cannot."

Noa gazed at him, trying to piece things together.

It had to be a powerful person without her knowledge and the bank wouldn't reveal who accessed it.

The Holland family didn't need the money, even though Czar had deceived her. It wasn't him since he wouldn't give a damn about such amount when he had more much than that.

Although the Streep family also didn’t need the money because they were a part of the city’s elite, they would only take it to punish her. They constantly desired everything that belonged to her.

They now had the money and her grandmother's emerald jewelry.

Noa took a cab and went directly to the Streep estate.

"Who are you? What do you want? Get out now, or I'm calling the police!" yelled the house keeper, who wore a red silk dress. This was not the house keeper Noa knew before she was arrested.

It was understandable that the house keeper didn't know Noa because she hadn't visited here in a long time.

However, even so...

She glanced at Sarah, who was wearing exquisite makeup, jewelry, and four-inch heels. She didn't resemble a housekeeper at all.

"I’m Noa, where's my dad?"

Sarah looked up and down at Noa for a moment before a scowl formed on her lips. "Oh, it’s even you, the Noa. I thought you were still in jail?”

She began to shut the door. "Sir is not at home. Return at a later time.”

"If he's not here, I'll just wait for him."

After kicking open the door with her foot, Noa pushed past Sarah and barged into the house. Joshua Streep wasn't actually home because the living room was empty.

Ready to wait it out, Noa settled down on the couch. Sarah sprang forward. "Seating around like you own the place, who do you think you are? Take your prison stench with you and go out!"

Sarah’s drama was too much for Noa to handle. She pushed Sarah away just as she wanted to touch her.

"This isn't your family to—"

Her gaze focused on the earrings hanging from Sarah’s ears. They resembled the ones her grandma had given her exactly.

"Where did you get those earrings?" Noa demanded as she drew Sarah in closer to examine them.

With a remorseful expression, Sarah attempted to back away. "I bought them myself."

"You purchased them? Those earrings belong to my grandmother."

Noa had assumed Mya might have taken them out of jealousy, but she had no idea Mya would give them to their house keeper.

It was painful to realize that something so valuable to her had been thoughtlessly given to a maid like useless trinkets.

She lost her temper. "Give them back!"

"Noa, did prison mess with your head?" Sarah retorted, swearing. “Nothing in this place is yours.

So get lost!”

Noa became enraged over everything that had happened recently. "I should get lost?" she exclaimed as she pulled on Sarah’s ears so forcefully that blood was drawn.

With a scream, Sarah pushed her away.

Noa didn't care that she stumbled and collided with something behind her. She was concentrating on retrieving her grandmother's memento when a derisive voice interrupted.

"Oh, Noa. Have you become so desperate while incarcerated? Fighting over jewelry with employees? Simply ask Czar to purchase anything you desire. The Holland’s are able to purchase anything you want.”

Noa spun around at the sound of that familiar voice. Lucky Streep, her second brother, stood smugly leaning against the doorframe with his hands in his pockets.

He put on an overdone expression of realization before Noa could say anything. "Oh, I see. Czar isn't interested in you, I forgot. Why would he purchase anything for you?”

His comments made Noa’s heart tighten.

Lucky approached the couch and spoke in a chilly tone. “Do you truly like stealing things that aren't yours, sister? It will never be yours, even if you steal it.”

Then he looked at Sarah. "Sarah, dressed up like that—going on a date?"

Sarah forced a laugh, not daring to offend Lucky. "I'm much too old to go on dates. Just experimenting with some new attire."

After snorting, Lucky turned back to Noa. "Why are you still in this place? Do you want me to summon security to take you outside?"

Noa was jolted back to reality by his taunt. She walked over to Sarah and extended her hand. "I'm very attached to those earrings. Give them to me; I won't ask how you got them."

Lucky’s expression changed a little when he looked at the earrings. He opened his mouth to say something, but a heavy, firm voice came from outside.

"You own nothing in this family. Noa, don't start causing trouble as soon as you get out of jail."

It was Joshua Streep, their father.

Sarah rushed to Joshua’s side and whimpered, "sir, thank heavens you're here! This murderer accused me of stealing her earrings and hit me—look, my ear's bleeding! I promise that I didn't steal anything from her.”

Lucky simply laughed to himself and lit a cigarette as if he were setting down for some amusement.

Noa now realized why Sarah, a simple cleaner, had the audacity to act so rudely. She must be having an affair with Joshua.

To be honest, though, she didn't want to be involved in the drama surrounding the Streep family.

"My grandmother owned the earrings. Return them." Noa strode toward Joshua. "I also want the $400,000 that my grandmother left in the bank. Neither the money nor the jewelry are necessary for this household. Is harassing an orphan over something so trivial really worth your time?”

Anger marred Joshua's face. "You an orphan? We're still here! Do you want us dead? Avoid us if you despise this family so much.”

He gave Sarah a quick flip of his hand. "You can leave."

With a nod, Sarah turned to walk away, but Noa stopped her. "You're not going anywhere."

"What on earth do you think you're doing, Noa? You don't give commands here; this is my home." Joshua yanked Noa’s hand away and gave her a fierce look. "When you got out, we even wanted to ask you to supper, but what did you do?You made a scene at Mya’s opening ceremony on your first day out. Everything was reported by the media, who wrote negative things about Mya. Who knows what might have occurred if Czar hadn't intervened?

"And now you're here stirring up problems once more, accusing our family of stealing your money and earrings. Did you go insane in prison, Noa? Have you forgotten where you are?”

Joshua gestured toward the door. "Leave my sight! I don't have an embarrassing daughter. Never return.”

Noa felt a weight on her chest that she was unable to shake, her nails digging into her palms.

Her eyes burned with tears even though she believed she would be accustomed to Joshua’s harsh words after all these years.

They had set her up, forced her to take Mya’s place. She was merely a stain on Mya’s impeccable record to them?

"Mr. Streep, then tell me—why does my son call Mya 'Mom'? My husband is with her, why? Why is my daughter no longer with me? Why is Sarah in possession of my grandmother's belongings? And what happened to the $400,000? Don't you dare forget who I went to prison for!" Noa yelled between gritted teeth, pushing back tears.

Slap!

Joshua’s hand struck her face forcefully. "You unappreciative brat! Is there danger here? You ought to have gone to prison for Mya since she is your younger sister! Besides, Mya wouldn't have had that accident if you hadn't taken Czar from her. You shameless whore.”

Her whore?

"Our family was ruined by you, Noa. Leave!"

Noa’s heart was numb and frozen, but her face hurt.

How did she ruin the family but Mya didn’t?

Ha. She ought to have realized that Joshua wouldn't develop a conscience.

She wiped away her tears and extended her hand once more. "I have no desire to discuss anything else. Just return the jewels and the four hundred thousand to me."

Lucky extinguished his cigarette. “Do you have any evidence, sister? Without proof, you cannot simply accuse us of stealing. What will happen next? Will every Berg city’s resident who misplaces something show up at our door demanding cash?”

Noa had no evidence. However, the only person who could have taken her belongings from Apple villa was Mya.

At that moment, Mya’s lovely voice could be heard outside, followed by the sound of an engine. "Czar, you're the best! This weekend, let's take Li to the theme park."

"Alright, whatever you want." Czar responded.

Noa had never heard the softness and gentleness of Czar’s voice before.

"My Li, how could I hate you because of her? If course not!” Mya sighed, her eyes softening. "You've been brought up like my own child. But I'm not your mother; I'm only your aunt. Now that she's returned, I ought to— "She's not my mom! She is not the kind of person I desire! Dad loves you too; you're my mom. Don't abandon me, please." Eli’s anger increased as he talked more. "Believe me, I'll force Dad to divorce her," he said, putting his palm to his chest. “Then you'll truly be my real mom." "Don't say things like that, Li. Your mom would likely despise you even more if she finds out, and it will be difficult on your dad." "I don't care if she likes me or not!" Mya smiled softly. "Sweetheart, I know you are concerned about me. We'll all go to the amusement park this weekend if you behave yourself.” "Really?" Eli asked, his voice brimming with excitement as his mood quickly improved. "Obviously. I've already discussed it with your father." "Yay! I'll wait for you to come get

Noa turned to see Mya and Czar entering together, both of them beaming. "Hey dad." Mya said as they came in. Mya saw Noa in the living room as soon as she was done speaking. "Noa, don't get the wrong idea," she said again, quickly release Czar’s arm. “It's only about the business; Czar has been really helpful to me, and as a thank you, Dad demanded that he come over for supper. That's all.” Joshua interrupted, "Why explain anything to an outsider? Since from childhood, Czar has been visiting this place." Joshua gave Noa another cold stare and then spoke kindly to Czar. "Make yourself comfortable, Czar.“ With a courteous nod, Czar said, "Thank you, Uncle Josh." "Guards, show this irrelevant person out." Noa was flanked by a number of bodyguards dressed in black suits as Joshua waved his hand. Czar had been ignoring her since he entered, not even looking in her direction. Noa balled her fists, shoved past the bodyguards, and approached Mya directly. "Give me back my money and

"Noa, don't hold it against Li," Mya said. “He has never met you and is only six years old. He doesn't understand. Grandma is correct; you may progressively mend your relationship.” Perhaps her heart was simply too shattered to feel anything more. In fact, Noa grinned serenely. "Eli is correct. He was never reared by me. To expect him to refer to me as mom is unfair.” Heidi relaxed when she saw heard Noa’s response. "I'm happy you comprehend. How about you stay tonight? To strengthen the mother-son bond, you may bath Li and spend the night with him.” "That's not necessary." Noa’s mouth tightened. "I came here for two reasons, Grandma. One is to make sure you're alright. For the other one,” Her voice broke a little. "I must know the location of Elodie’s grave. I'd like to see my daughter.” Heidi sighed deeply and let her shoulders drop. "What a horrible finish for that poor child. There was an infectious disease outbreak at the time of her death last year. The hospital took her

Noa hailed a cab to Skymit. However, she was stopped at the front desk by the receptionist. "You don't work here, Miss. Do you have a scheduled appointment?” Due to her shotgun wedding four years prior, she and Czar obtained the marriage license ahead of schedule and scheduled the ceremony for after the baby was born. However, she ended up behind bars before the wedding could take place. Only the Holland family, the Streep family, and a few close acquaintances were aware that she and Czar were essentially in a covert marriage. "I'm here to see Czar." The receptionist frowned. She contacted security to escort Noa out after assuming she was simply another Czar admirer based on her simple attire. Czar emerged from the elevator at that moment. After releasing herself from the security guard's hold, Noa hurried over to him. "Czar, we need to talk." Czar was surprised to find her here. His eyebrows furrowed in frustration. "This is where I work. It can wait until I get h

"Okay. Leave this to me." Gia gave Noa a comforting squeeze on her hand. "Hey, it's important to celebrate your release and put all of that prison stuff behind you tonight." "So you're buying me dinner?" "You bet," Gia responded as she turned on the engine, and Noa forced a tiny smile. "I got us a table at the restaurant you used to love.“ Gia tried her best to cheer Noa up during dinner. But Noa’s heart ached every time she thought about Elodie and Eli. Gia exhaled quietly as she became aware of the change in her mood. She could still clearly recall the delivery of the twins. Due to Noa’s serious problems, the hospital's blood supply was finished. Czar was inaccessible despite the doctor’s' frantic need to use his connections for an emergency delivery. Gia had to phoned her brother when Noa’s life was in danger, and he sped across town on his motorcycle to get blood that kept Noa alive. Noa had come close to death while giving birth to the twins. And right now? O
