Bella

I went to court to finalize everything— to take the one and scribble my signatures on the contract papers, for a man who I randomly had a one-night stand with.

Valerie’s Black dress was outstanding, but her hard look was the overall fitting of her look.

“Oh, you! I didn't think you'd come to my wedding,” Alex chuckled and it ached me.

At this point, I had already crossed the thin line that divided love and hate. I didn't think twice before doing anything that was going to favor me and my unborn child. I wasn't going to sit and let just any random thing occur again.

“Was she invited?” I asked in a cold tone.

“I can't chase her, can I?” Alexander muttered and said his vows. I stared at her from my sides, trying so well not to make it obvious.

Everyone probably thought she was coming to halt the wedding, but her character displayed something totally different.

Her weird smile lit her face even when it was obvious she had doubts.

“Don't let my presence interrupt,” Valerie uttered, staring at me with a bitter gaze. “I just came to see the perfect look of lies, especially when it was covered in white.”

I swallowed deeply, making sure I put myself together.

“Well, that must be a good show,” Alexander scoffed and replied.

Me? I was extremely dazzled at what my life would become after signing the contract. After legally being Mrs Blackwood, what was left for me when Valerie acted like she was ready to take action?

I picked up the pain with shaky hands, not knowing how to figure it out. I didn't have any more options.

I couldn't run away when the debts had even been cleared. I couldn't tear the papers, we were in the courtroom. I couldn't do anything.

I placed the contract down, and I scribbled my signature on it. I felt my cold fingers as I made a fist and pulled a smile.

Alexander didn't think about it, his signature was dried up already. I stared at him, the tattoo on his neck, and I felt a heavy wash of disgust running over me.

I turned and looked at the contract papers and my signature finally dried up. At this point, I was already holding on to the fact that there was no turning back.

After the contract and their copies were sealed, I turned and looked around me, dishing out a wide smile.

A smile that was made of plastic—fake and useless.

“Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Blackwood. You both are now legally husband and wife,” the magistrate pronounced.

I could only hear the echoes of congratulations, swimming in the air.

Suddenly, Valerie dropped her bag on the ground and ran towards me with so much force. She grabbed my wedding dress with tears swimming in her eyes, “Why didn't you think twice before doing this to me? There were other men, Bella,” she pulled my dress stronger which each word that fell out of her mood.

“Stop it!” I roared, pulling her away. It was difficult to do so. She clutched her hands to the gown.

“I have tried my best to be the family you don't have. To be the friend you didn't deserve. To be the sibling you didn't have, Bella. At the end of the day, this is what you paid me back with?” She uttered icily, her tears had dried up.

Oh! The wedding I have always dreamed of. Was this it? The same one, my supposed best friend, was trying to make it worse than it was?

Tears fell quickly from my eyes as she used her words to pierce my heart. I stopped fighting her, letting her win.

“You were nothing, and now you got everything I managed to have, so you can baby something,” she charged up.

“You returned the ring, and you have been selfish all along. You didn't think twice about the fact that it could have been a rumor. You returned the ring like it was a wrong transaction, and now you are saying I got what you had?” I gave a succinct reply and readjusted herself a bit.

“You have no right to lay your hands on my wife that way. You should find better things to do than that,” Alexander defended, and I was lost, staring at how pissed he looked at Valerie.

“You have no idea how deep the hole you've dug for yourself is. Alex, you never thought of chasing me back,” Valerie started crying again.

“I will not want to talk about my past on my wedding day. How would you think my wife would feel?” he asked firmly.

Well, I hadn't left the courtroom yet, but I was dished with drama.

“You should know what you're doing. If this is a facade, you should stop it already,” Valerie begged.

“Move!” Alexander shoved her away and moved towards the exit of the court, but without me.

There was nothing more than seeing that my expectations were nothing more than just wild dreams that were never going to come true.

There was nothing more I wanted to have secure something tangible for myself in this marriage. I wore all the shame that was thrown on me after everything Valerie said to me.

“From today, I will cut all ties with you. I have nothing left with you again and should not consider my existence in your life as your best friend. You deserve nothing,” she spat in my face.

Goosebumps caressed my skin and I felt no strength in my legs as they started wobbling.

Just when Alexander was about to bounce out in his suit, “Alex!” I called out his name with the last strength I had.

It felt like something was draining my strength, leaving me as empty as a void. Before I could see if Alex stopped to come help me out, everything became pitch black and the heaviness of my body was too much to hold.

I fell in, into the part of me I never knew existed—I fainted.

  • The Contract Wife    The Man behind the Smile

BellaAlex's world was full of men who smiled with their teeth and watched you with their eyes. After receiving the large sum of money, I realized that truly, I was nothing more than a pet in the eyes of Alex. I had to do everything he told me to. I acted only in the way he needed me to act. I was already living the life of a textbook a few days after marriage. After the planned dinner, I had nothing to do than follow him like a shadow when he was home. I wasn't really prepared for what I signed. I stood frozen in the room after the door was opened without a knock. “You seem to be extremely busy," he murmured as he walked into the room. The sounds of his footsteps sent shivers to my spine. “You are the busy one," I replied quickly, shoving my robe to cover my body. His brows furrowed and he moved backwards a bit. “Was there any part in the contract that mentioned you have to cover your body?” His voice was cold and distinct.“Uhm, you didn't think I could also be feeling cold?"

Bella The bedroom I was given was bigger than my entire apartment that the bank almost took away from me. Deep down, I told myself that it was a good thing. Even after I said that to myself more than three times, it was hard to believe in even one of them. I was shown my quarters and at that moment, it felt like I was a worker in the mansion. The quarters were quite distant from Alex's suite. Then I remembered that it was part of the contract. The room was beautiful and far from impeccable; It had silk drapes with a vase of fresh rises by the bedside. Its scent filled the entire room, and there were just more features as I looked through each corner. I opened my mouth slowly to behold the wonders of the room, a type I hadn't seen in a long time of being born into this harsh world. I was awed by everything I saw, but at the same time, I felt suffocated. It was purely vanity in all forms. Deep down, I knew I was crawling into my own doom. Because it already started feeling like a

  • The Contract Wife    The New Thorn

BellaI married for money and not for love. I dumped the fact that there may be people who care about me, and there were those who faked it. While the wedding certificates were being signed by my contract husband, I lived in the delusional state that this was not a contract, it was real. Mr. Blackwood will definitely not frame that contract, and Valerie? She can't do more than give me a dead stare from her seat.Moving around to get to a better position to have my signatures on the marriage certificate made me feel nauseous. This time, it was bad enough that I wrinkled my entire face from the discomfort it gave me. “You are both officially husband and wife!” The judge announced, and I just had to give a quick smirk while I watched my contract husband smile to the ends of the corners of his mouth. Valerie could not hold up to everything that she witnessed. She probably thought it was all a joke, that there were no two ways about it, and the fact that it could be a prank. My whole

BellaI had no control of myself because the room fell with me. From the moment of forcing a smile in front of everyone to pretending to be happy. After hearing the magistrate's voice brush the silence that choked on me after signing the contract papers, I was weak. The reading of the last contract was something I had barely heard. All I could think about at that point was the sound of my own heartbeat. My heartbeat was too loud and fast like it wanted to bail on me. “Bella?” Alex’s voice reverted from the distance he stood and that was the last thing I heard. My vision became blurry and everything I thought I could see started melting into one unreasonable sight. I tried so hard to make sure that I put myself together, but my brother failed me. I was scared because I struggled to get here even when it felt like trouble. I wasn't ready to leak the cat out of the bag—that I would have to tell my husband that I was pregnant with his child even before we got married. He was the im

Bella“You are getting married?” Valerie was in the middle of the crowd smiling. She walked towards me and I felt my heart falling into my stomach. “Va-Va,” I tried to mutter a few words, but she interrupted. “ You don't have to be audible right now. I know how hard it could be for you to be doing what you're doing. “What are you doing, Valerie?” I could finally ask. My eyes were covered with tears and I could feel the heaviness of the ring Alex wore on my middle finger.“Congratulations, yeah? I think that's the right thing to say to you right now. You are amazing,” she added, smiling too, with tears in her eyes. When I looked around, I realized I couldn't fumble. I realized that at this point, it was my right to stand against whatever she was going to do. I mean, everyone was watching, and my heart couldn't stop racing. I needed something better to happen. “Move away from my wife!” Alexander's voice was loud and charismatic. He moved towards me and stood in front of me. He was

Alexander I could be the devil, but I had some conscience in me. For years, no one ever cared if I knew my side of the story because money spoke for me.
