Chapter 3

Nadia’s POV

Me and Luca take off starting with a slow jog and slowly speed up until we’re at a good pace. We have been running for almost an hour and we’re coming up on the cliff. As we approach the cliff I can hear voices a little way in front of us.

“Saturn we aren’t supposed to go in the water it’s dangerous” I hear a little girl say

“Oh come on I’m only by the edge I’m not going to jump” the girl I’m assuming is Saturn responds

I’m close enough where I can see both girls and the can’t be much older then 8. I’m wondering what they are doing so far out. We’ve never seen anyone around here. We’re hiding slightly behind a tree and some bushes watching the girls.

“Saturn you’re way too close come on let’s go back before we get in trouble” the little girl says

“Ugh Treasure you’re no fun” Saturn says as she swirls around causing her to lose her footing and start to fall towards the edge of the cliff “SATURN NO” Treasure yells and I don’t know what comes over me because I rush out of the trees and when I realize I won’t catch her in time I pull some of earths magic and I send a rush of wind coming from under the girl which throws her back onto the dirt

“Oh My Gosh Saturn are you okay” Treasure asks with tears running down her face “how did I get back up here?” Saturn asks as she starlings looking around “I don’t know” Treasure responds and looks around as well. I’ve already returned to my hiding spot with Luca but I’m stuck staring at this girl called “Treasure” I feel the urge to protect these little girls and I cannot figure out why.

“Princess we need to go home NOW” Luca whisper yells at me.

“Hold on Luca , I need to make sure they are okay” I say which makes him sigh and close his eyes. “Queen is gonna kill us” he mutters under his breath.

We sit and watch the girls for a few minutes to make sure they don’t go back to the edge when I see the girl called Treasure tense up and look directly to where we are hiding. At the same exact time we hear 4 sets of what sounds like paws running towards us. Me and Luca freeze for a moment and then Luca wastes no time opening a portal and dragging me thru it and of course we come face to face with Lyric.

After we tell Lyric everything that happened I’m honestly surprised when she’s hugs us both and lets us know that she is proud of us for choosing to save a life no matter what our past looks like with their kind. Me and Luca let out a sigh of relief and hug her back. Yes our sister may be strict but we know she only wants what’s best for us. She ends up telling us that we are temporarily not allowed to go on runs until she knows it’s safe again. That makes us complain but she immediately shuts us down letting us know she will not risk losing us like she lost mom and dad. I hate that it still affects her the way it does. Me and Luca don’t remember much from our parents death since we were only two at the time but Lyric was 11 and watched our dad die so we understand her fear even if it annoys us.

Lyric POV

The twins told me what happened and as much as I hate wolves I’m proud of my siblings for saving that little girls life. They didn’t have to do that but they did and that’s why I love them. We have suffered a tragic loss and they won’t let anyone else go thru that as well. But now I have to go check things out and pray to the goddess that nobody comes across us because the last thing I need is to lose my siblings too.
