Chapter 4

Jason's POV

My eyes widened as I looked turned around, heart racing as I knew there was danger lurking in the dark.

I kept turning in circles, hearing low growls coming from the hushes.

It sounded like that of a werewolf who had gone berserk.

A beat patiently waiting for the right time to pounce on its prey.

Suddenly the figure jumped out, claws protracted and mouth wide open, ready to devour me.

I screamed at the top of my voice, and I jerked from my bed, panting heavily.

I could feel my heart thudding loudly against my chest.

It was a nightmare. The same nightmare that I've been having for days now.

It all started when I got into this villa. It's like something has been hunting me from the shadows.

But no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to read enough meaning into the dream.

It's just been a blurry vision for me.

I sat upright as the new day had already come.

All I have been doing for the past few days is wake up and get called to come out and eat.

Well, the same routine was about to take place today.

Suddenly, my door was pushed open.

There was no knock, no voice from the other side.

Just a hard push in my door, and a lady walked in, her eyes sharp as though she could cut through flesh with them.

She shut the door behind her as stood with her arms folded, weighing me with her eyes from my head down to my toes.

“Please…Can I help you?” I stuttered, trying to understand the sudden situation I found myself in.

My eyes narrowed as I stared at her, trying to recall where I had seen that face.

Then it suddenly clicked in my head. She is Iria Randolph. Alpha Luther's lover…so I was told.

I jumped to my feet immediately. “I'm really sorry it took me long enough to recognise you.”

She rolled her eyes at me, literally looking so eager to strangle the life out of me.

“Why are you still in bed up till now?”

I swallowed hard. “I'm just waking up.”

“Don't you have something you should be doing?”

This is strange. Since I got here, I have never been made to do anything.

So it's quite shocking to see somebody ask me what I am supposed to do.

“I…Alpha Luther never mentioned that I shouldn't be doing anything all through my stay here.”

She quirked her lips as she stared at me with utter disgust etched upon her face.

“I don't know why Luther brought along someone as useless as you are.”

I bowed my head, keeping my eyes away from hers. “I'm very sorry, ma'am.”

“I need you to get out and join the other slaves right now!!” Her voice quakes the entire room.

But right when I was about to scurry off her presence, Luther walked in, his eyes firm and his hands curled by his side.

“Who are you to give him orders?”

I froze on the spot, staring at the drama that was about to erupt right in front of me.

She scratched the back of her head nervously. “I was only trying to call him to order,” she said. “He has just been lazy since he arrived here.”

“I permitted that, Iria.”

Her eyes darted between Luther's firm expression and my really tensed expression.

“He's an Omega.”

“Leave this place immediately!” His cold voice pierced into her ears sharply.

She didn't say a word again. She just walked out.

Alpha Luther turned towards me, looking straight into my eyes.

“Breakfast will soon be served.”

Then he turned and left, shutting the door behind him.

I heaved a huge sigh of relief as I grabbed my chest.

That was a pretty intense moment, and I never saw that coming.

I crashed back onto the bed, trying to calm my nerves before I would be summoned for breakfast.

After my meal, I decided to meet Sage Freya.

I wandered into her room, my eyes darting around and taking in the sight of several ancient artifacts around the room.

They were neatly placed and arranged on a shelf, and all I did was enjoy the wonderful sight of it.

“I never expected you to find my room.”

I startled, turning towards her right away. “I'm…I'm really sorry. I was just…”

“It's fine, Jason,” she interjected. “Here, have a seat.”

She offered me a chair, and then she sat right next to me.

“Why are you here?” She leaned in towards me with a soft spike still radiating in her face.

I cleared my throat, feeling awkwardly comfortable around her.

“I was curious.”

She smirked. “What do you want to know?”

“You mentioned that you can help me understand my power.”

She nodded softly. “Yes, I said that.”

“Well, that's the reason I came to your room.”

“It's very easy, Jason,” she replied. “First, you need to understand who you truly are.”

My brows furrowed. “I know myself.”

She shook her head in disagreement. “You might see ahead of you, but you need to be able to see what is within you first.”

My head swirled as I tried to understand what she was trying to say.

She was speaking in parables, and it was too hard for me to process what she was trying to tell me.

“I'm sorry, but I really don't understand what you're trying to say.”

She grabbed my hand softly, and I suddenly began to feel an immense amount of spiritual energy hovering around me.

“What are you doing to me?”

“I'm not doing it. You're only feeling the energy that is in this room.”

My eyes widened slowly. “Wow! This is very awesome. I have never felt this way before.”

“Jason, we possess the same power, but you harness way more abilities that I have never unlocked in all my years of practice.”

“Do you realise that I am a cursed Omega?”

She smiled as she placed her hand over my shoulder. “That wasn't fate’s verdict.”

Suddenly, the door was pushed open and Iria walked in holding a silver dagger in her hand.

My heart sank right into my stomach as my eyes dated between her furious face and the dagger firmly sitting in her hand.

“What do you want to do with that dagger, Iria?”

She pointed it straight at me, her eyes glowing from the fury that was already taking control of her.

“I have a bad feeling about your presence, Jason. I need to end you while I have the chance.”
