Anna
Today was the day I turned eighteen. It was exciting. Why? Because now I finally had the chance to be with my mate. I was told that once you turned eighteen, your mate would finally find you. I didn’t know if it was real or a blatant lie, but I was excited. Well, that was until he showed up. “What are you doing standing around?” He asked. “Get back to work!” It was Damon Smith, the Alpha of the Blue Valley pack, and also one of the most ruthless men I have ever encountered. Being slaves to the pack was the worst part of my life, but I’ve always found a way to make things work. I’ve always tried to stay happy, and luckily I had my best friend, Stella who was always there for me. “S—So sorry, Alpha,” I stuttered, grabbing the cloth from the rack. He had his brows furrowed as he stared at me. I could tell his eyes were pasted on me as I cleaned the water from the table. Damon was also one of the most gorgeous men I’ve come across. Being a slave made my opportunities slim, so I hadn’t been able to see a lot of men. But I could tell that there wouldn’t be much out there that was more sexy than the man standing before me now. He had short jet-black hair which glittered in the morning sun that washed into the living room. His lemon eyes usually made my knees weak whenever I stared at him. To me, he was a walking piece of art. His well-chiseled jaw and pale skin made him look ultimately beautiful. I gulped hard as I wiped the table with the cloth. I could feel the cloth grow damp as I mopped the water. A chill went down my spine as I felt the cold from the cloth. I could still feel him staring at me. This was the longest we have ever been together. It was awkward that I had him watching me. When I was done, I turned around and found him still staring at me, his lemon eyes piercing through my soul. I could feel my knees about to buckle. His biceps were busting out of his black shirt as he folded his arms. They looked like they could cut diamonds. Fuck. Fuck. “What are you staring at?” He asked. I blinked twice when I heard that. My eyes searched the room as I thought of an answer to give him. Was he going to punish me like the rest of my pack? Was he going to send me to the dungeon? It would ruin my day, and I didn’t want to imagine that. I was saved by the sound of footsteps coming from the stairs. A woman came down and I recognized her immediately. She had long black hair and a pair of brown eyes. She looked to be in her early forties. I knew her too well. She was Noami, Damon’s mother. “Now what is going on here?” She asked. Damon didn’t answer her. He was still glaring at me and I could feel my heart thumping hard against my chest. What did he have in his mind? His brows furrowed slightly, creating a thin-like impression across his smooth forehead. His pink lips pressed together to form a thin line, making him look stern and beautiful. I felt like we were having a moment, and then, I heard Noami sigh. It broke the silence and snapped me back to reality. “Caught her some slack, Damon. Today is her birthday,” she said. My eyes widened expressing my shock. Did she know my birthday? How was that possible? My eyes went to her and her brown eyes were glittering as she smiled at me. “You are turning eighteen, right?” She asked. I gulped hard and nodded in response. She flashed me another smile. “She’s come of age.” Damon’s brows were now furrowed even further and it created another thin line above the previous one on his forehead. He was staring at me, and it looked like he was going to eat me up any moment. My thighs shivered at the thought. “Happy birthday,” he said, his voice deep but smooth, creating a low hum that resonated in my soul. And then, I felt it. It came in a flash. The connection. I felt like he was pulling me towards him. I could feel the force of attraction tugging me towards him. I wanted him. Those lips, those stern lemon eyes, and his lovely pale skin. I wanted them all to myself. I shook my head snapping out of it. “You shouldn’t have interrupted, mother,” Damon said, turning to face Noami. That was the first time he had looked at her since she came into the room. Noami chuckled softly. I could barely hear her. “I couldn’t help it. I’m plus, I was just on my way out when I caught you two,” she said. Her last sentence sounded weird. It seemed she was trying to pair us. That would never work. Damon wouldn’t look at a slave like me twice. I was nothing more than that in his eyes. And it was perfectly fine to me until a few moments ago. The feeling was getting deeper and stronger. I could feel his warmth around me. It was soothing and comfortable. I wanted to lay up in his arms. Those strong biceps hold me tenderly as I fall asleep. Was I daydreaming? “Mom. Quit it,” he said. His eyes came back to me, the sunlight illuminating them, and making them look like glass. They looked so fragile but gorgeous. My thighs trembled again. “Get back to work,” he said calmly before turning around. He walked away with Noami, and I watched them head towards the door. I could hear voices around me whispering, but I couldn’t decipher their words. They were getting louder by the second, and I could feel the force of attraction pulling me towards Damon even though he was far away. And then, he paused by the door and turned to stare at me. My heart squeezed in my chest as our eyes met. And then, the whispers became more vivid. I could finally decipher the words, and the first one came as a shock. “Mate.”DamonI sat up on the bed, my shoulder flaring in pain. It’s been a long time since I felt this kind of pain, and my speed healing hasn’t helped much. Now I understand how dangerous vampires were to us. The room was quiet except for the buzzing of the heart rate machine sitting before me. I was done sitting around. It was time I headed back to my pack. Who knew what could be happening there? As I stood on my feet, the door creaked open and Rohan stepped into the room. He was surprised to see me on my feet already. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” he said. I scoffed and tore off the IV from my wrist. I was done sitting around. This place was haunting me. Yesterday, I swear I smelled Anna in the hallway. It felt like she was so close. There was no doubt that she was here. I had to see her before I left here. “Thanks for the concern, Rohan. But I’m done here,” I said, trying to take off the hospital scrubs. “Yo! Slow down!” Rohan shrieked in fright. I turned him, amused that he wa
Anna I wrapped the bandage around the old man’s hand and he nodded at me appreciatively. “Thank you, nurse,” he said. “I’ll try my best to stay out of the bar now.” I smiled and turned around heading out the door. Lana was standing by the door when I came. She had a smile on her face and I wanted to wipe it off. “Seems like you made a friend today,” she said leaning off the doorframe as I walked out of the room. I clenched my jaws trying to keep myself together. It had been an hour since I arrived and I was slowly getting tired. Maybe I should have stayed home or gone somewhere else. But where? I didn’t exactly have a pass here. Even though Rohan and I were in a sticky situation, I was certain he still had eyes on me. “Okay. We are heading to our last patient of the day,” she said as we walked through the busy hallway. I was surprised that the hospital had so many wards. There were many nurses as well who assisted the handful of healers/doctors who were available. “Who’s
Anna I arrived at the hospital a couple of minutes later and I felt a chill go down my spine as I stood before it. Rebekah was going to get mad at me for coming at this time, but I needed it. There were things I needed to do here. I didn’t want to be home, it reminded me of the ghost of Rohan who hadn’t shown his face ever since that night he left in a rush. My stomach churned as I thought about him. What was I doing? I’d told him to reject me, but now I was happy that he didn’t. I couldn't understand it. I felt lost. I already had a mate. His name was Damon Smith, and even though he didn’t see my worth he was still mine. But so was Rohan now. And I didn’t know what to do. What would happen if they clashed because of me? No. Damon didn’t care that much. The only thing he wanted was his child, and I wasn’t going to give him that. This child was now mine. It was my responsibility, especially after I tried to kill it. There was no excuse for what I did. Naomi had saved me from maki
AnnaI woke up to the sound of my alarm with a smile on my face. The morning sun washed into my room, bathing everything in sight with its golden light. Today was going to be a good day. I had a good feeling. Today, I decided to have a good day. I rose from the bed and stretched myself before hitting the bathroom. After showering up, I dressed up in blue jeans and a black shirt. I knew that Rebekah was going to give me that look of disapproval before I changed into my scrubs but I didn’t care. She’d told me once that I needed to wear clothes that made my abdomen free because of my pregnancy, but I didn’t feel the need to. Ever since I left the Blue Valley pack, I haven’t had a problem with my pregnancy. There was no kid or pestering from the child. It was almost like they’d gone radio silent. I was happy. I got downstairs and found Stella making breakfast. Today was Sunday; her day off which gave her time in the kitchen. “You should have made me make breakfast,” I said as I walk
Rohan“Rohan. This is the most terrible idea you’ve made in your life,” Jarred said as we watched the nurses roll Damon to a ward on a bed. I sighed and rubbed my hand on my chin. He had saved my life and I was grateful for that. I couldn’t leave him to die even though I didn’t like him. Damon was going to get better. And we were going to go after Cassian when all of this was done. “Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow,” I heard Dayton say on the phone from a distance before coming back into the hospital. He sighed as he shoved his phone back into his pocket. “I just got off the phone with my Luna. I told her what’s going on. She’s pretty shocked, but she understands.”I sighed and nodded. “Are you sure he is going to be alright?” Dayton asked. I nodded, tightening my jaws. Damon was going to be fine. But as soon as Rebekah smelled him, she was going to come after me. It was a terrible idea. And worst of all, Anna worked here. If she found out that Damon was here, she was going to freak
Rohan“Wait a second,” Jarred asked, holding his flashlight. We all turned to him thinking that he had something to contribute, but he looked genuinely scared. The fright in his eyes was like an illness I had never seen before. He was the only beta in the room, he must be terrified by the aura oozing from all of us. I was surprised that he was still on his feet. “Who’s this guy again?” Damon asked, pointing his thumb at Jarred. I rolled my eyes before answering him. “That’s my beta, genius.”He looked at me completely irked and with a cranked eyebrow. “You brought your beta here?”I was lost by his question. “What would you know about having a best friend?” I asked. Damon clenched his jaws as his lemon eyes glared at me in rage. His hands balled into fists and I knew he was ready to go another round. This time I wasn’t going to back down. I was going to give him. “Can you guys slow down for a minute?” Dayton asked, irritated. “We need to figure out what’s going on here.”“Who
