Anna

Weddings? I wasn’t much of a fan. But hearing that my mate was getting married to another woman made me sick to my stomach.

I was stuck in bed ever since Stella told me this, crying my eyes out. Late nights, I would fantasize about Damon coming over and apologizing for rejecting me. But he never did. I never saw him after that.

The good thing about being rejected was that I was no longer his slave. He had completely forgotten about me. Maybe it was because he was focused on his wedding ceremony.

Today was the day. Two weeks after I had been rejected, and two weeks after Stella had broken the news to me. Damon was getting married to his childhood friend. She was his girlfriend since they were little, and I wondered why I thought my destiny of being his mate would be powerful enough to shatter that bond. It didn’t make any sense.

Maybe I was just a loser.

The door swung open and Stella stepped into the room. She was wearing an orange dress which had a slit from her right thigh down to her ankle. Her brown hair was wrapped up neatly into a bun and her tanned skin glowed in the late morning sun that bathed my room.

She was staring at me in confusion.

“Why aren’t you dressed yet?” She asked.

I buried my face in the pillow avoiding her question. I heard her sigh before she walked up to me. Stella sat beside me and placed her hand on my shoulder. Her touch was warm.

“Anna, you know it’s mandatory to be present at the Alpha’s wedding,” she said.

I lifted my face from the pillow and looked at her.

“I don’t care. I doubt that he remembers that I still exist,” I said.

Stella cocked her head.

“You’d be surprised.”

I rolled my eyes and she chuckled.

“I’m not going, Stella.”

I was adamant about not leaving the room. I was tired of being treated like a nobody. I wanted to be myself and make my own rules. But I doubted it was possible in a place like this.

“Come on, Anna. Don’t do this,” she urged. “I even bought you a dress.”

My eyes lit up as I heard that. Her chuckle said it all. She wasn’t lying.

“You bought me a dress?”

She looked at me completely perplexed.

“What else do you think was in the box at the dresser?”

My eyes went to the dresser and I was surprised to see the box sitting there. It was weird that I hadn’t noticed it until now. My eyes were soaked with tears that I could barely see anything. It wasn't completely my fault.

“Now get ready, we are going for the wedding.”

***

Stella had successfully convinced me to go to the wedding. It was hard to believe that my mate was getting married to another woman.

When the piano played the song “Here Comes the Bride” I didn’t bother to stand. I was focused on the altar where Damon stood impatiently.

He was dressed in a black suit that matched his jet-black hair which was combed neatly. His lemon eyes were fixed on the aisle where Sophie was coming from. I couldn’t deny how gorgeous he looked.

I felt like I had let an opportunity slip by letting another woman get married to the most gorgeous man I ever laid eyes on. And yes, that gorgeous man was my mate. Maybe I should have fought for what was mine. It was too late now. He was already getting married.

After the song, everyone sat down and watched the couple exchange vows. I clenched my jaws and watched them as they professed their love for each other. I felt sick to my stomach.

I understood why Damon didn’t want me. I could see the emotions in his eyes as he stared at his bride-to-be. After exchanging vows, they kissed each other and the crowd cheered.

Sophie’s eyes searched the crowd, and when they met mine, she gave me a sinister smile. I could feel my blood boiling. My jaws clenched and I wanted to whack the smile out of her face so badly. But it was too late. She was officially Damon’s wife and the Luna of the pack.

But the wedding was over, and I wanted to go home. As the couple walked through the aisle, Damon’s eyes met mine and he looked surprised as he saw me. Our gaze went on for longer than ten seconds. He was accessing me, his eyes complimenting my dress.

I could feel my thighs tremble as his lemon eyes pierced through my soul. His eyes reminded me of what could have been mine. His alluring aura made it hard for me to hate him. He was mine. He was supposed to be.

Damn you, Damon.

And then in a second, his eyes peeled away from mine and the feeling was gone. I felt empty once again. Maybe I shouldn’t have come here. I should have stayed home and cried all day like I normally did.

My life was officially over, and my mate had done the worst to me. But one thing was for certain; I still couldn't hate him.

RohanFive years ago. I was running as fast as I could. But it seemed I was so slow. The pack house was under attack. The last line of defence had been broken. I knew that Jarred wouldn’t call me unless it was an emergency, and this was sooner than I hoped it would be. How long had we been at it? An hour? Maybe two or three? I couldn’t tell. All I needed to do was make it to the pack house. And I hoped that I wouldn’t be too late. Late. That was all I’ve been tonight. First, it was alerting the pack about the attack, and then it was Walton. My heart ached as I thought about him. How could I have been so stupid? The only reason he was dead was that I’d forced him to go after the vampires. I’d taken the fear from him and that had led to his death. This was all my fault. He’d died a painful death, and I feared that I wouldn’t be able to recover from it. As I got back into the pack, I could see the path being littered with vampires. They’d done a good job holding them back. The road

DamonThey were coming. But we were prepared. I could see them now—the vicious creatures coming at top speed, their screeching sounds filling the air. My hand tightened around the handle of the silver blade. This was going to be one hell of a fight. All around us, the people of the Black Fang roared in preparation. They were all ready for this. Everybody was ready except for one person—Rohan. It was amusing that he was about to chicken out on us. And he was the only person who had experience fighting vampires in large numbers like this. But now that we needed him the most, he was just a shell of himself. “On my word, we attack!” Dayton yelled at everybody. I gritted my teeth and tightened my grip on the blade again. I could feel my blood boiling. I was thirsty for a battle like this. A few months ago, I never knew that vampires were real. I’d lived my life totally oblivious to their existence. Until that morning at the cafe with my father. He’s opened my eyes to the reality of the

Anna“Good to see you back on your feet,” Rebekah said as she stood by the door. I was almost startled by that because nobody had seen her come in. It was evening, and Stella had fully recovered. It was time to go back home and get some rest. And nobody deserved it better than her.Stella chuckled as she rose from the bed. I was helping her, making sure that she was able to work. She’d been in bed all day which meant that her first few steps would be rocky. “Thank you, Rebekah,” she said softly. “I wouldn’t have been here without you.”Rebekah folded her arms as she leaned against the doorframe. “You seem to forget that’s my job, Stella.”Stella nodded with a smile on her face. “Yeah. It’s one hell of a job.”Stella moved, her hands slowly leaving the bed. Her legs touched the ground and she leaned off the bed gently. I watched her tentatively with her hand wrapped around my shoulder. Stella took a deep breath before standing on her feet. She chuckled in amazement and looked up at

RohanFive years ago. The air was tense, filled with the clink of swords, the metallic tang of blood, and the screams of my men as they clashed against the vampires. There was a fog that concealed half of the battlefield. It was our job to hold down the line. They must not get through. Not by any means.A vampire lunged at me faster than I could process. It brought me down to the ground and snapped its fangs at me. I moved my head away before it could take it off. And then I reached for my blade at my side and grabbed, swinging it at the vampire. Its head slid off and it dropped dead to my side. I got back to my feet immediately, making sure that it didn't repeat itself. I was Alpha. It was my job to protect this pack. And the only way I could do that was to protect myself. I couldn’t die on my people when they needed me most. “Alpha!” I heard a familiar voice scream through the field. I stared in the direction that the scream came from and it was the dirt blonde boy from earlier b

RohanPresent day. “Rohan! Rohan!” I could hear Damon’s voice calling me from the fog. I snapped back to reality and found him staring at me with his brows furrowed. “What the hell are you doing? Blacking out at an important time?” He asked, barely hiding the irritation in his voice. I sighed and rubbed my forehead. The memories were coming back faster, and I didn’t want to remember them. But if this was what was happening, then I had to make sure that I did better than last time. At the distance, Dayton was talking down the vampire while the whole pack watched. He tore off its neck from the body before smashing it to pieces with his foot. That was grotesque. But I could see the rage in his eyes. He was fuming at the vampires which meant that he could handle the rest here. “Are there any more?” He asked the crowd that was gathered but nobody responded. He walked up to us afterwards, his hands stained with blood. “What do we do now?” He asked. “You have to prepare your pack fo

RohanFive years ago. “Alpha! Thank goodness,” Eric said as I stepped out of the truck. It was twilight and I could smell the tension in the air. We were running out of time. They would soon be here. I could feel it—the strange shift in the air. We didn’t have much long left now. “What’s going on?” I asked and looked around. The men were gathered but they all looked scared. This pissed me off. “Why are you all looking like you’ve seen a ghost?”There was no answer. They all stared at me in silence, scared out of their minds. This irked me. At this rate, we wouldn’t be able to hold them back for long. “Well? Someone better answer me!” I demanded. “W—We didn’t know that vampires were real,” one of the men said. He was a boy of about nineteen with short dirt blonde hair. His blue eyes were lit in fright and his knees trembled as he held onto his blade. I bit my lips staring at him. He would be the first to die. “Well. Now you know that they are,” I said. “Now stop acting like wimps
