First day at school

Lily hurriedly got dressed for school and was excited to attend. She heard Monica call for her from the kitchen and she knew she had to hurry before she got left behind.

“Took you long enough.” She heard Gerald say with a sneer.

As they got into the car, Harriet shot a condescending glance at Lily and said, “I hope none of my friends see us in the car with you. I don’t want them to know I’m related to an omega.”

Lily and Harriet sat quietly in the back seat of the car as Gerald drove them to school. Harriet’s eyes darted toward Lily every once in a while, giving her a look of disgust.

Finally, Harriet spoke up. “Dad, I don’t want anyone at school to know that I’m related to her,” she said, nodding toward Lily.

Gerald let out a chuckle. “Don’t worry, sweetheart. Nobody will know,” he reassured her.

Lily sunk in her seat, feeling a pang of hurt in her chest. Was she really that embarrassing to be seen with?

As they approached the school, Gerald pulled the car over and turned towards Lily. “You’ll have to get out here, Lily,” he said.

Lily looked up, confused. “But this isn’t the main entrance,” she pointed out.

Gerald shrugged. “It’s closer to the gate. You’ll have to walk a bit. Have a good day at school” He said.

Lily’s heart sank as she got out of the car and watched it drive away with Harriet still inside the car. She felt alone and vulnerable as she made her way toward the school gates.

She began to walk towards the main entrance, her backpack slung over her shoulder. As she walked, she saw other students walking in pairs or groups, chatting and laughing. She couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy.

Finally, she arrived at the main entrance and took a deep breath. She tried to put on a brave face as she stepped inside, hoping that nobody would notice her, but she doubts it since she was an omega and this is the school for the Alphas and Betas.

Lily had barely stepped foot in the school when she heard screaming. She rushed over to the commotion to see what the fuss was about. As she got closer, she saw two identical boys enter the school – triplets.

However, there seemed to be only two of them, but Lily realized that the missing triplet was the boy she had sat next to on the plane – Caleb, she wished to follow them, but knowing they are related to her stepsister made her halted, although she didn't know the one that called Harriet last night, seeing they are identical but she noticed the one she sat with was taller than this two.

So she shrugged it off and watched as the boys were surrounded by girls, who were screaming and fawning over them.

At that moment, a girl appeared with a cake and handed it to one of the boys – Gabriel. But instead of being gracious, Gabriel rudely rejected her and pushed her away making it clear he doesn’t want the cake or her. The girl looked hurt and Lily couldn’t help but feel sorry for her.

As all the girls left to follow the triplets, the girl who had been rejected by Gabriel stayed behind. “Hey, are you okay?” Lily asked. “That was so wrong for him to do. He could have been nice about his rejection. I can never understand why girls fell for guys like that. I could never.”

Fae told Lily that Gabriel, Nathaniel, and Caleb were the most popular boys in school and were known as the Alphas of the pack. She advised Lily to stay away from them if she didn’t want any trouble, but Lily disagreed but didn't allow her to hear, inwardly Lily thought of the one she sat with on the plane.

She looked up at Lily and noticed that she was new. “You’re new here, aren’t you? I’m Fae by the way,” she asked.

Lily nodded, feeling a bit shy. “Yeah, I just started today,” she replied.

Fae looked at her and snorted. “No wonder you don’t find them attractive. But don’t worry, the longer you stay, the faster you’ll fall for them too,” she said with a smirk.

Lily raised an eyebrow. “I doubt that. I’ll never fall for shallow, arrogant jerks like them,” she replied, feeling confident in her answer, although inwardly she doubted Caleb.

Unknown to her, Caleb was standing behind her, overhearing their conversation. He was interested in meeting this new girl who stood up to his brother’s behavior. Perhaps she was different from the other girls in school, and he was curious to find out more about her.

He couldn’t believe that there was someone who wasn’t swooning over him and his brothers.  His eyes widened knowing it was the same girl he met on the plane yesterday, he shrugged off, faking like he didn't remember her again.

He stepped forward, a mischievous glint in his eye. “Is that so?” he asked, smirking at Lily. “My brothers and I are shallow jerks aren’t we?” he said and Lily was surprised by the boldness, she thought she would be remorseful for taking her game.

Wanting to snap at him, Fae notices and quickly tries to intervene but Caleb turns to her, pushes her away, telling her to butt out.

”If you don’t want to share in her pain, leave.” Gabriel said, approaching them.

While Lily was talking earlier, Caleb had told them what Lily said through the mind link even before he discovered she was the girl he met on the plane yesterday.

“This Omega was the one running her pretty little mouth huh?” Nathaniel said, resting his arm on Caleb’s shoulder. “Your first day and you’re already getting into trouble with the elite, that doesn’t look good on you now does it?” he taunted.

“Let’s teach her a lesson,” Gabriel said, shoving her toward Nathaniel and Caleb who pushed her again toward him.

They relished in her fear and sadness. But suddenly, Caleb stepped away from the scene. He felt a pang of guilt in his heart. “That’s enough guys, we should go.” He said pulling Gabriel away from Lily. He watched as she fell to the ground in tears.

Lily looks up at Caleb, still shaking with fear and she couldn't bring herself to ask for her game video. Moreover, he doesn’t offer her any comfort or sympathy. He simply walks away.

Later that day, Caleb sees Lily walking alone again. This time, he decides to follow her, just for fun. He watches as she talks to her friends about the bullying, but he doesn’t feel any remorse. Instead, he laughs to himself, knowing that he’s the one causing her pain.

Lily wipes her tears after the boys leave. She was all alone in the hallway. She picked up her bag and searched for her class. Luckily, the teacher hadn’t arrived.

On getting there, Lily scanned the classroom in search of a seat when she locked eyes with Caleb.

As soon as she had walked in, Gabriel and Nathaniel smirked. They mind linked each other, then to the rest of the classroom giving them an order they must obey.

“Everybody listen up!” Gabriel said, his voice with authority as he spoke through the mind link. “No one is to allow this omega girl standing at the door to sit beside them. Got it?”

“Yes, Alpha.” The voices rang back and everyone turned to face the girl the Alpha was referring to.

“Hey there new girl, come, here’s a sit,” Nathaniel said beckoning for her to sit where he pointed.

Lily still shook with fear. She was unable to move or say a word. And as she tried to sit on other spots, the students sent her away. “This is taken, or go sit somewhere else omega.”

She finally gave up. She just wanted to sit and focus on her classes for the day and return home.

She has been at the park for merely three hours but she already hated it and the rest of her school year.

She walked over to where Nathaniel had initially pointed and dropped her bag on the floor and began to sit. She landed on her butt as the seat was dragged away by Gabriel’s leg.

Lily sighed to herself, feeling tears begin to form in her eyes once again as everyone laughed at her.

Was this how they treated new people or was her case different because she's an Omega? She wondered. What did she expect when they offered the seat to her? She should have known they’d be up to something.

Just then her wolf perked up, wiggling her tail excitedly at the back of her mind as various scents that were overwhelming just like yesterday hit her nose, she noticed yesterday's scent was among them. She wanted to close her eyes and savor the smell as much as she could but she had to find out why she smelled a different scent at the same time even though the scent was already driving her and her wolf wild.

She turned around frantically searching when her eyes landed on the three groups of men. They were huge, ripped arms, and handsome faces. No announcement was needed for one to know they were triplets with Alpha blood. The aura that came from that was quite different and it took over the entire room quickly.  Especially Lily, all she could smell was them and goosebumps grew on her body at each step they took closer.

The next second, she heard the last thing she ever wanted to hear, or thought she would ever hear.

“Mates!”
