That night, instead of staying up all night, focusing on the sounds, I allow them to lull me to sleep. I do not take long to fall into a deep sleep. One that is not interrupted. Even when the mother wolf and her pup come to visit.Mark and I have been careful to not leave food out when we are not awake, or near the camp site. So far, this has not caused any issues. Tonight, it still does not cause an issue. It does however open things up for the two wolves.My wolf is aware enough to be able to pay attention to them and know that they are not going to harm anyone. "Last night camping. Are you ready to get back to life tomorrow?" Mark asks me.I look around our little campsite, I cannot imagine being anywhere else right now. Everything about this weekend has just felt so right and amazing. I have been more at peace than I have in months, maybe even years. What I thought was peace in my pack, really was just my group of friends and the fact that we were at the top. That is not all pack life is though."Definitely not. I might have to come out here again. If I can get permission, of course." I joke."I am sure that I can get you permission to be on this land. I might know some people." He says with a small wink.I laugh as I reply, "Yeah, but my boss is terrible. Who knows when I will get another weekend off. For a few seconds, neither of us says anything.I am still staring at the water in the bottom of the canoe while Mark stares at me like he is trying to figure out exactly what just happened."Okay," he finally says. Mark was totally right. The lake is amazing. It is quiet and peaceful just like the woods around us.As I look around, I can see lily pads closer to shore with small frogs sitting on top.There are a few down logs that have turtles on them. There are also dragonflies. Hundreds of them. Everywhere.They occasionally land on the side of the canoe and just sit there, along for the ride. Some of the land on the paddle, only to fly off as soon as it gets closer to the water. One even lands on my hand for a moment.I watch it with a small smile on my face as I examine all of the colors. They are all different bright colors that I love to look at. This one, however, is a purple color. As the sun reflects it goes between being a deep purple color and a dark blue. It is amazing to watch the color shift slightly in the sunlight.Looking around, I cannot help but feel the nature surrounding us. I am even more aware of it here than I am in just the woods. After what feels like hours, even though I know it has only been a few minutes, I finally pull myself away from the log. I need to freshen up after everything that just happened.
