I didn’t think. I just pulled my arm out of his grip and ran. Elly was screaming at me for leaving our Mate but I needed to think.

Yes, I want a Mate. However if my Mate was a guest here he was most probably a ranked member of a pack. In that case he would expect me to leave Ash Wood.

This was something I really didn’t want to do. I already lost a home three years ago. I wasn’t prepared to lose another. Besides who knew if my Mate’s pack would let me bring my siblings. I would and could never leave them. I was all they had left and I promised Dad I would take care of them.

I closed my mind to the pack link knowing that Clayton would try talking to me. Being Alpha he could still come through if he tried hard enough but luckily he didn’t. He knew me well enough to know I needed to be alone.
