Chap-2*The Cursed Dating Apps*

"No! I mean, look at her," Stacy continued, talking to her friends about Delilah, "Do you agree right?" she added very impressively.

Delilah had no idea if she was complimenting her or making fun of her, because the interactions they had in the past weren't very pleasant.

"You look like you have lost some pounds, you look great." Stacy complimented Delilah with a huge smile on her lips.

The sudden praise from Stacy made Delilah smile back in surprise and glee. Stacy had never done that, so it was indeed a huge deal for her.

"Really?" Delilah swiftly scanned her body and reddened at the girls who nodded their heads in agreement with Stacy.

"Yes! What diet are you following, how did you lose weight so quickly?" Stacy's eyebrows were arched in confusion and astonishment.

"I don't know, I mean, I just started working out and I eat less, I eat healthy I mean." Delilah, the innocent mind of hers failed to pick the game these girls were playing with her, continued to speak a lie very confidently.

"What kind of healthy meal?" Stacy interrupted Delilah, taking a lot of interest for the first time in what she has to say.

"See, you have to eat proteins, some--" Delilah paused in the midway, wait! I don't know anything about diet, Delilah thought to herself.

"And?" Stacy knew she had got Delilah good. They were laughing inside at how stupid Delilah was.

"You know she should wear knee-length sleeveless dresses now; she will look so good with her new body." one of Stacy's friends intervened cheerfully to participate in playing with Delilah’s emotions.

Their words were encouraging Delilah, but she didn't know they only meant to poke fun of her.

"Ac--" before Delilah could continue, Monica had come to her rescue, who, when saw the girls gathered around Delilah, knew they were up to something not so good.

"You can shove your ideas in your a** and leave her alone." She shouted before even approaching them. Stacy and the girls wouldn’t dare mess with someone like Monica.

"Monica!" a shocking utter left Delilah's lip, watching her friend growling at the girls who were merely applauding the big change in her didn’t seem like a reason for her friend to lash out at them.

"Wow, somebody is jealous of her friend." Stacy rolled her eyes, Monica stopped near Delilah and glared at the girls until they decided to walk away.

"Bye Delilah and keep doing you, you look great." Stacy voiced once she was far away from the glaring eyes of Monica.

Once the girls were out of sight, Delilah turned around to have a word with her besite.

"Why did you do that?" Delilah made eye contact with her friend, who shook her head in response.

"They were poking fun of you." Monica did the same, folding her arms on her chest and pouting.

"No! they were not today, they said I look good now that I've lost so much weight." Delilah, being naive she was, uttered very innocently. They were still in the parking lot with many students passing by them and then after checking out Delilah, whispering in the ears.

"Did you though? You have put on some extra weight Delilah!" Monica stated without realizing Delilah's state of mind. She had grown sensitive after being bullied day in day out for being overweight. Her friend’s statement left a bit of an injury to her heart.

"Wow! Thank you." Delilah, once heard what her friend thought of her, sighed disappointedly.

"Listen, I di---" Monica didn't mean it like that, she just wanted her friend to be aware of these mean girls’ intentions.

"It's fine Monica. We should head to the class, we are late, I suppose," sad at her friend for not enjoying her victory of losing weight, which she hadn't, Delilah left her friend behind and walked ahead to the class.

The rest of the day followed a similar pattern from the morning. Stacy and her friends would complement Delilah whenever she crossed their paths and then Monica would jump in to warn Delilah of their intentions.

The night arrived pretty soon for Delilah, but at least her day went well. She couldn't believe she had lost so much weight when she had been stuffing herself with food for the past few days.

She laid in her bed, going through her phone while Monica had fallen asleep the moment her face hit the pillow.

Stacy: I realized one thing today. It's all in your brain, if you can control your brain, your thinking, you can achieve anything.

That was Stacy going on about how impressed she was at someone's whole personality change today on Facebook.

Delilah knew she was talking about her, this was the best thing that had happened to Delilah in such a long time.

Stacy: Today, I tried it too. I made up my mind that the pizza I'm going to consume is going to help me reduce weight and I lost a pound.

Wait a minute!

Delilah shot up in her bed in shock. Is that what happened to her as well? Maybe that's why she lost so much weight.

Does that mean she can eat whatever she wants and not gain any weight?

Delilah snickered merrily while hugging her phone close to her chest.

As Stacy's manipulation wasn't enough that Delilah's fate too decided to play a trick on her.

Someone swiped her right!

"Wait!" Delilah's heartbeat dropped in her chest at the notification at the top of her phone.

"Did somebody just swipe me, right?" She whispered to herself, shock written all over her face as she blankly stared at her phone.

Was it because she switched to her new profile picture in the morning? And since she is a completely new person, people were liking her now?

She couldn't be happier after losing so much weight without working hard to achieve her goal. She was also curious to know the person who swiped her, and as that wasn’t enough, he messaged her.

G: Hey gorgeous :)

Gorgeous!

He called her gorgeous. Delilah didn't waste a single minute into opening his profile and going through it.

Wait a minute!

It was a new profile and the display picture had a black cat on it.

Was it a troll account?

Her energy went down pretty quick and she laid back in the bed again.

G: Too beautiful to respond?

Even though his profile had disappointed her, his remarks were a boost to her ego. She couldn’t prevent herself from grabbing this chance of finding her dream guy.

Delilah: Why you don’t have a picture of yourself?

She waited for his response, which he didn’t take long to respond to her.

G: I made an account just a few hours ago.

G: I find out my girlfriend is cheating on me.

That made Delilah feel bad for him, she sadly watched his message and felt his pain just like it was her own.

Delilah: Did you break up with her?” She questioned, taking interest in someone who was taking an interest in her.

G: I think I will now.

With that, they both continued to chat till morning. Delilah was extremely pleased with this new change in her life. How everything changed for her in one day changed her whole mood for the better. But as everything changed, by the next few days, her friend became a bit irritating to her.

Monica was the only one who was nagging her and forcing her to join a gym with her or to not hang out with Stacy, Delilah wondered if Stacy was right about Monica not loving the attention Delilah was getting. Even though it aches her heart that she was going to lose a good childhood friend, but she was happy to have new and better friends by her side.

“What is up with you?” Monica followed Delilah into the room after they got back home from college. Monica wasn’t pleased that Delilah was keeping things to herself now and not only that, Delilah was also missing on going to college with Monica.

“Nothing!” Delilah mumbled, wiping off the pink lipstick Stacy had given her. She had planned on taking Stacy’s advice and upgrading her closet to something sexy.

Delilah had also kept the guy named G from Monica, who she knew would question her and lecture her about these internet scams and safety. It was good to share secrets with Stacy, who was much cooler and chill about everything.

“And what’s up with you and these weird makeup looks?” Monica peeked at Delilah’s face and grimaced at the huge difference in the foundation tone.

“Why do you always find a way to criticize me Monica? And then you complain why I am not hanging out with you.” Delilah was truly cast down by her friend’s ignorance of her feelings. In Delilah’s mind, Monica was being too harsh with her.

“Delilah! You are naive and I don’t want anyone to take advantage of you.” Monica being a good friend, was ready to go out of her way to make sure Delilah was safe and healthy, but Delilah was too pampered by Stacy’s fake applause to understand her friend’s concern for her.

“Okay! You don’t need to make me look like an idiot all the time.” Still not understand her friend, Delilah ignored Monica’s attempts of resolving the issues they were having and picked up her phone to the incoming message.

G: I wanna take you out on a date tonight.

G: I want you to come and spend time with me in my home.
