Chapter one

Ike's POV

"What?" Ike exclaimed. The Senate President of the Senate House in Nigeria was furious.

"Why was there a forced landing? What happened?" Ike argued with the man on the other end of the phone. "I want my wife found alive and well," he declared before hanging up the phone.

Unable to control his tears, Ike let them flow down his cheeks. "Oh, my wife," he thought to himself. She did not deserve this. He knew she was not a perfect wife, but he loved her, even though she never reciprocated it. She had married him for his money, but still, she did not deserve to die. At least he did not want her to die—not yet, maybe after spending a lifetime together. Ike, who was still in his late 30s, was the first young Snate President of the Senate House and the first one to have gotten the position unchallenged. He was dark in complexion, tall, and a politician who derived joy from bodybuilding, with his six-packs a testament to that. He looked like someone drawn out of a comic book. "Oh lord, please keep her safe," he murmured. There was every possibility that she was alive, but he couldn't help but get worried about her. He stood up from the chair he was sitting on, went towards the parlor bar, poured himself a drink, and with a heavy sigh, he sipped from it. He didn't care how bad his wife had been to him. All he wanted was his wife, his lovely wife whom he had cherished and loved for the past two years of their marriage. He loved her; he did not care what anyone thinks.

Ada's POV

Ada could not hear anything but a beep sound in her ears. She looked around the very scattered inside of a plane that was supposed to land in Dubai. Everyone was out of their seats, and belongings were scattered everywhere. She managed to stand up after falling out of her chair due to the forced landing by the pilot. Still confused about what was going on, even though everyone in the plane had calmed down, she was still panicking. Just some minutes ago, people were screaming, while others became prayer warriors, speaking in tongues.

"Sarah," she whispered, using her eyes to search for her friend who had helped sneak her into the plane. Sarah was her best friend and a flight attendant. She decided to help her into the plane after witnessing her stepmother’s cruelty to her to escape.

"Sarah!" she shouted.

"What?" Sarah screamed back. She was just behind Ada.

"Why are you shouting?"

"Thank God," Ada said, hugging Sarah. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Sarah said. "Are you okay?"

"Yes, I am."

"Don't worry; we will be fine."

"What happened?" Ada asked.

"The pilot had to make a forced landing; he discovered that the fuel pump was cut off."

"What? Who could have done such a thing?"

"I don’t know, but someone wanted everyone dead." Just as they were talking, they heard the pilot’s voice through the speakers, "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are sorry to have stopped your trip to Dubai due to a malfunction. Please make your way outside of the plane; the doors are now open."

"Do you know where we are?" Ada asked Sarah.

"No, I don’t, but we are about to find out."
