Chapter 2

....

Myst's Point of View

A sunny and cloudy sky floating above this summertime of the year, heat radiating everything in sight. Birds chirping and chatting with one another on the tree branches while the cool breeze sways the green bountiful leaves. Plants looking all radiant too. Nature gives a fresh and calming feeling out here.

As for all the townspeople, the adults are doing all different household chores, and the children playing along altogether with their friends.

Everything seems so lively and joyful this day.

This is how things usually happen in this little town on the outskirts of Lheda. It is on the western side of Phirellium that is widely full of rural landscapes. Very simple and not very well known but everyone in here is peacefully and happily living altogether. Which I am very grateful and glad to have. We are contented with what we have as long as we can overcome any problems. But it goes differently for me.

My days are not as happy and well going, unlike their lives. I'm still wondering if 'she's still here, then maybe I would be happier and more satisfied with life. It's just... her time has ended way earlier than we wanted it. Accidents happen. She's just now part of my memories that I never would forget in my lifetime.

"Myst!" someone called out my name. I stopped washing the dirty laundry and turned my head to where that loud voice comes from.

It turns out? the two morons of a friend of mine have finally come for a visit. Pleased that they still remember me. Please note the sarcasm.

"Stop calling my name out loud like that, could you? People might mistake you as a police siren when you do that. Also, who are you again?" I ask nonchalantly and continue washing the laundry not sparing them another glance. Teasing them.

Humble as it is we are not having any luxury in here. Well, we are not wealthy after all, so all women in this town come to this single populace river to do the washings and everyone goes here for swimming or bathing.

"Oh sorry about that but how could you not know me? When I'm the only friend of yours who's been the most handsome guy that had ever live. How could even forget that?" He pouted. His name is Rhyme. The funny but thoughtful gentleman. And he's always like this, so narcissistic and childlike. Most of the time, I just rolled my eyes at him like now. Then I continued what I was doing before they disturb me.

"Tsk. Speak for yourself." He remarked at Rhyme that glared at him back. This one is Brylle, the most reliable and smart but sometimes weird gentleman. And both of them are my only companions, or only friends rather. "Myst, do you need some help?" He asked me while scooting closer to me.

"No, but thank you. I can take care of this myself." I refused at him nicely. Well, how could I let him help me? For Pete's sake, these are my inner garments and the most important part is, he's a guy. Who would even imagine a guy washing a girl's clothing? That would be so discomfiting and would only be so embarrassing. So, It will not gonna happen.

"Hmm... okay." He said while smiling at me, which is very rare of him. Thus, make me feel a little bit uneasy when he did that because most of the time he's always like the stone-cold. A poker-faced person, not giving much care in the world. But he's very gentle towards me, which makes me lucky somehow. But I don't get myself, getting used to it.

"Well, when will you get finished? Come on hurry up Myst, so we can finally start our visit in the Capital if not we'll take ages to arrive there." Rhyme said, exaggerating which made me twitch my lips a little. He's annoying sometimes but that's him and unfortunately, I can't change that so I just put up with him.

"Can you just shut up?" Brylle stared at him again with his brows knitting together, he's probably annoyed. Rhyme just stuck out his tongue at him in return and make silly faces. Trying to annoy Brylle more, which Brylle of course gets annoyed too. He can't endure such balderdash after all.

"Okay, that's enough guys. I'm finish already so I'll just have to hang them up to dry under the sun. So, simply wait a little bit then we'll take off." I said trying to stop any more of their childish bickerings.
