Xavier’s Pov

I was stuck in a time frame that was the only reflection of my past yet it was inflicting an enormous amount of pain in me. The scene in front of me was only a story of the past. However, it was a real story of my past that had a tragic ending. Maybe that’s why it was crushing my heart so much to watch it countless times. Like a broken film reel, it kept on being replayed but never once did it pause. And I didn’t think it has any stop button.

“It all happened in past. Luna is safe in the present world.” Deus was trying to comfort me. But little did he know I could feel his pain too. I knew he was shattered too. He was ashamed that he couldn’t protect her in the past. It was my fault too. Even if he had control of the body that day, I should have helped him to save her.

Once again she died in front of me, protecting me and I was only being a spectator of it. If only I could close my eyes then I would. If only I could hide away then I would. If only I could roll out of this

  • The Last Mates   Chapter 37

Xavier’s Pov“I am not your property and you can’t give me as a gift to some sick pervert. You have no right.” Luna cried. They say emotions make us weak.I wondered if those statements were true as I watched my mate crying in front of me. The love and protectiveness I felt for her were at their peak. Her vulnerable state was making me weak. It was hard- almost impossible, to not pull her in my arm and tell her the truth. If I did so, and God knew I wanted to do so badly, then all my plan would turn into dust. Into nothingness. But I say emotions make us human.Without it, we would be only an animal. A feral animal that understood nothing but instinct. And I was neither animal nor human. I was a mixture of both. A Lycan. We, Lycan, were a mythical creature. Magic ran through our vein. A single body was home to two souls, one beast and another human. Beast was controll

He growled. Then the earth shook violently and the wind blew from a different direction at the same place in a twisting motion. Thunder echoed in the distance and lightning flashed which was soon followed by a heavy storm. Nature was restless and chaotic as if….…as if something had disturbed the peace. As my gaze moved to Deus, an absurd thought crossed my mind. What if it wasn’t something but someone who has brought imbalance in nature?“Grrrrrrrrrrr” He let out another powerful growl successfully installing fear in enemies’ heart.Lancer hesitated for a second before he signalled his army to attack but no one made any move. They were scared, I could tell. When he shouted again reminding them I was the prize, only then did they strike.Deus protectively pushed my small frame behind his massive one. This infuriated or rather embarrassed me. I was their Queen. However, that didn’t stop me from hiding behind someone’s back, seeking protection from the war that was being fought over me.

  • The Last Mates   Chapter 36

Luna’s PovThe boys and girls were divided into two groups. We were about to play Lok Dohori. It was traditional folk music in which men and women flirt with each other by singing song. The fun part was that lyrics were instantly created by the lead singer on the spot. Not to mention they are always funny. And it continues till at least one side surrenders or runs out of the witty reply. It was my first time. In 17 year of my life, I had never taken part in any of mass fun activity. Honestly, I thought I would never see this day. A day where I didn’t have to be invisible. A day in which I could be free- I could be me. As a child, I would often try to run from home because home, at that time, felt like a prison to me. My innocent mind couldn’t understand why I had to be locked inside four walls. Those were dark times. But darkness is always followed by light. I looked at Xavier only to find his attention fixed on me. A genuine smile appeared on my lips. And just like that, his presence

  • The Last Mates   Chapter 35

Xavier’s Pov“Any news of Coden and others?” I asked Cole.“Not yet. Our trackers are still searching for them.”I was deeply worried for Coden, Liam and Luna’s father. It’s been days since their disappearance and still, we hadn’t been able to find a single clue about them. I prayed for their wellbeing.“Either Killian must have killed them or held them captive,” Cole stated. A sudden fear engulfed me. I desperately hoped for the latter case. They all fought for Luna’s protection so I was indebted to their kindness and sacrifice. If anything happened to them, it would kill me. Also, she would blame herself.I needed Coden, my gamma. Liam’s pack needed their alpha and Luna needed her father. I had done everything I could to find them but so far, I’d failed miserable. I had already sent my spies, tracker and even warrior in search of them but they all retur

  • The Last Mates   Chapter 34

Luna’s Pov“Sit beside me.” Xavier didn’t hear me so I said once again. “Xavier, sit beside me.”He obliged and sat next to me. I gently took his hand in mind with an intension to provide him comfort. I would have hugged him but I wanted to see his face since I was seeing his handsome face after so long. And also because I wanted to peek into his soul through his eyes.“What happened?”“Nothing” was his instant reply. The fact that he answered too quick meant one thing. He was lying. Also, I was feeling his sadness through the mate bond so I knew something was bothering him. This time I hugged him and we stayed like that for a few minutes. Now that he had marked me, I could feel everything he felt, which was a little strange. For a fact I knew, this wasn’t possible.Well, my mom once told me that in ancient times when werewolf marked true mate, they could feel the emotions of their mate through the bond. However, after the vanishing, making was just supposed to be wearing their choose

  • The Last Mates   Chapter 33

Xavier’s PovHer blue eyes. The most beautiful feature about her was her eyes simply because they never lied to me. Her iris displayed her emotions to me. It served as the mirror for me to see her soul, her true self. From the day we met, I had seen fear, anger, and disappointment and even detest for me in her eyes. I had also seen her eyes communicating her vulnerability and her respect for me which I gain by supporting her in those vulnerable state. But never once had I seen her eyes twinkle with admiration for me. However, it changed today. There she was staring at me with deep affection and my heart fluttered because of it. No, it wasn’t a look of love but it was a hint that she had started falling for me. I pulled her closer and kissed her once more, secretly hoping that my kiss would speed up the process of falling in love with me. Her kiss was healing my wounds that were inflicted by the memory of the past. Her presence alone was eno
