"Mother?" Kiara asked, unsure she heard right.
"Yes. She wants to see you."
Yesterday, she spoke to Nate, the content of their discussion still unknown to Kiara as Nathan refused to say, a similar worried expression as the day before worn on his face.
"Okay, you can go." Kiara dismissed and watched as she turned on her heel leaving through the door.
She gazed at Linda, who had a puzzled look on her face, "You don't look too happy Luna Avery is requesting for you."
"Who knows why she wants me? Probably to chide me for doing something wrong."
"Don't worry, you can go. I would finish your work for you, and start on some," Linda promised, her voice assuring.
Kiara reached out for her bag, "Thank you, Linda." She hugged her briefly before leaving through the door.
Kiara could not calm the plaguing thoughts of worry in her head. She was nervous as well because of the pit of her stomach. Approaching a familiar door, she knocked and immediately the voice of Nate's mother resonated back.
"Come, I have been waiting for you." Kiara pushed the door open, meeting the sight of her relaxed going through some papers and sipping tea.
She removes her glasses and smiles at Kiara.
"Welcome, Kiara, come sit."
She walked to the sofa and sat on it. It was odd to see her being this friendly with her. Though Kiara does try to ignore how insignificant Nate's mother often thinks of her.
Or how she tries to imply she wasn't part of their family most of the time despite being Nate's mate but Kiara didn't let her actions deter her.
"Is there a reason you called for me, mother?" Kiara asked, trying to sound oblivious.
Avery stood to her feet walking to her in her usual graceful style before settling on the same sofa with her but keeping some distance between them.
"You can guess."
Somewhat confused, Kiara answered thinking back to her and Linda's discussions. "You want to start lessons on being a Luna?"
A burst of loud laughter erupted from her lips like Kiara said the most hilarious thing ever.
Her response was rather surprising and made Kiara feel embarrassed.
Was it that funny? She asked herself.
The Luna's laughter died down to a little smile etched on her lips, looking delighted.
"You were really funny," she commented and was serious almost immediately.
"Do you think you are deserving to be this pack's Luna?" Her question felt like cool blocks on bare skin. Kiara was unable to answer.
"Are you capable? You are a stunted, Kiara. Can you bear the future Alpha children? Can you be the mother of the pack?" She didn't pause a bit to let Kiara process her questions.
Her words broke every shell she built to protect herself, totally disarming her.
"Look at me, " she demanded harshly.
Kiara raised her timid eyes to meet hers.
"I only called you here to tell you how incapable I think you are and you should agree to a severance to break your bond with Nate."
Kiara gasped in horror at her proposal and stood to her feet, confused.
"What are you saying?" Kiara demanded, getting infuriated. She could take her demeaning insults and all but never to break things with Nate.
Never.
A tear slid down her cheeks at the hate Luna Avery has for her. The Alpha kept their relationship neutral, with no real bonds existing. She only had Nate by her side and she wished he was here.
"Nate would never agree to that and I won't as well."
"Nate has a mate and she would take her rightful place," She said boldly.
"It's only a matter of time."
Kiara couldn't handle hearing such things anymore and was at the verge of breaking down. She hurried to the door and walked out of the room. Her heart ached as the Luna's words echoed deep within her.
I only called you here to tell you how incapable I think you are and you should agree to a severance to break your bond with Nate
Her tears flowed down in full force, she pushed the door weakly and collapsed in the bed.
She would never be considered a full wolf by the pack. She would always be the stunted, hybrid girl.
She wanted to see Nate, she wants to bask in his arms seeking some comfort.
*
Leaving Nate was her greatest undoing, each day she regrets her decision and how much loss it caused her.
She tried repairing her relationship with him but it seems her efforts were futile to the extent he wants her gone forever.
This was all hers or was meant to be hers. She was his fated mate, she was to rule by his side and be the Luna to the ruler of the largest pack in the state covering up a quarter of the land area.
Such power was meant to be hers, not Kiara's and she won't be letting it go so easily.
She stood to her feet, admiring how alluring she looked in the mirror.
Meeting Nathan one last time won't hurt.
*
Kiara stared at her sullen reflection through the mirror, her eyes were puffed up due to her crying, and the tip of her nose was red and swollen.
Summoning some courage she took in a deep breath trying to clear her thoughts and think positive about things. She must not take to heart whatever the Luna said.
Nate would never hurt her by agreeing to severance but there was a need to bridge the recent communication gap with Nate and what better way than to surprise him with a date?
Excitement bubbled within her as she thought of how to make it much more special.
There would be lots of flowers, roses and lilies to make the air incense with their fragrance then little candlelights because it would be late in the evening and to reflect both their faces, his blue orbs visible for her to get lost in.
She called for the servants instructing them on what to do, done with the instructions she decided to get ready.
She had a slow bath, adding some essential body oils to make herself naturally perfumed.
Sat on her vanity desk she layered her creams, which reduced her puffiness before blow-drying her hair and adding some curl patterns to make them look lush and full. Her dark silky hair bounced as she played with it, unable to control how excited she felt.
Done with her, she started on her makeup, trying to make it pronounced but simple.
Highlighting her natural heart-like face to make her look subtle and reduce the attention her hazel eyes attracted. She inherited her hazel orbs from her mother. Though didn't grow up with her around to know what she looks like, the pictures her father often showed her reflected a woman who looks just like her.
A silver nose ring hooked on the right side of her nostril.
He would tell her stories about how her mother, despite the fact she was human, didn't let the wolves intimidate her. She knew the dangers of carrying a shifter's child but despite the dangers, she went through with it just to have Kiara and died due to complications after birth.
Her father was the most affected after her death. She was his mate, his one true love and he never moved on.
When she wants the courage to overcome the taunts she gets for being different in the pack, her mother becomes a reflection of who she wants to be.
She would never give up on her and Nate's love, she picked up her mother's nose ring and fixed it on her right nostril feeling a renewed strength boiling in her veins.

Nate glanced through the pack's guard recruitment files. Being the next in line after his father he was in charge of the Pack's security and has done marvellously when you consider the Alpha was always absent busy with other duties and pact with other packs.
Attacks from rogues and pack wars have reduced to some extent.
The duties of the Pack slowly rested on his shoulders and became his duties even without being the Alpha, he had no problem focusing on them but today was an exception. His mind was thrown into turmoil and it has to do with his decision for Jessica to leave.
He closed his eyes at how much conflict he was in internally.
On one hand, he wanted her gone but on the other, the feeling that engulfs him when he was with her was something he can't let go of.
And there's Kiara.
He thought back slowly to his mother's discussion with him. What if he only feels obliged to Kiara because she was there when Jessica wasn't?
Does he still love her the same way he did in the past?
Why does it feel like so many things have changed? Frustrated, he slammed the table hard standing to his feet to clear his head only for the door to creak open.
He turned his focus to the door and was met with a surprise, it was Jessica.
She was hesitant to come inside his office and rather stood close to the door.
"Can I come in? I want to have a word."
"Mm," he nodded, gesturing her in.
His eyes dropped on her figure, she looked beautiful in her knee-cut slim gown hugging her slender curves, her bust open with a cleavage cut on her chest.
Her hair was tied into a low bun, making her look slightly reserved.
He lowered his gaze, his finger dancing on his desk instead.
"Have a seat," he offered.
"That won't be necessary," she brushed off, searching for his gaze.
"I just wanted to inform you I would be leaving tonight. Just as you wanted, away from you, and the pack forever, " she said slowly, he could hear the emotions in her voice and would be lying if he wasn't affected by her words but he didn't let it show on his face.
This was what he wanted, it would be best for everyone if she is gone.
He shouldn't get lost in the pleasures of their past relationship that he ruins the one he has with Kiara.
"This time it's what is best for everyone," he commented.
"What's best for both of us, Nathan?"She asked.
She walked closer to him, her stilettos hitting the floorboard as she made her way to his desk standing in front of him.
He stared at her angular face, her green orbs alluring, little curled strands of hair framing her face.
Her scent filled his nostrils as she closed up the space between them confusing him slightly.
The conflict in his head on what to do left him incapacitated.
"What are you doing?" He asked, feeling the electrified atmosphere between them.
She leaned closer to him, their nose brushing subtly before speaking out softly.
"I want one last kiss with you." She said before brushing her lips with his.
Her soft plump lip, brushing past his was all it took for his restraint to break. He wanted more and couldn't care less if it was wrong, it does certainly feel good. His lips gave up restricting access as he sought to taste her.
Grasping her face closer to his, he kissed her harder, this time taking it all, before delving deeper to explore her sweet depths.
"I love you so much Nathan," Jessica moaned, it was obvious she was getting aroused, and so was he. This shouldn't be happening but it was too late to stop.
This was their last time together, he stopped kissing briefly and carried her in his arms, plastering soft kisses on her neck, her scent making him crazy, her moans as well.
"You are mine," he growled, clutching her breasts through her clothes. Her hips were desperate to meet his as she ground against him eagerly, moans escaping her lips.
"I want to feel you in me," she said huskily, her chest rising and falling in succession.

Kiara smoothed her hand over her long gipsy skirt.
The brown colour on the layers of the flowy skirt complimented her honey-brown complexion.
Her cotton dull white off-shoulder top fit perfectly.
Making sure her sandals were well strapped, she trudged downstairs, feeling excited.
Nate would be shocked to his bones when he sees what she had planned for them.
She saw Ryan at the far end of the hall, talking to some guards, she walked towards him when he noticed her presence he dismissed his guards.
"Kiara," he acknowledged respectfully. " What can I do for you?"
"Good evening, Ryan," she smiled at him. "I want to see Nathan, do you know where he is?"
"Well, the last time I saw him he was in his office working on some files. You should check."
"Thank you," she appreciated before leaving for Nate's office.
She walks to the door, a wave of uneasiness travelling to her guts, it's probably nervousness.
She knocked on the door expecting his familiar voice but she got none, she decided to push it for herself and froze to her feet at the sight in front of her.
Her world shattered right there in front of her.
Nate is with another woman.

Nathan leaned forward one more time to capture Jessica's lips and feel their softness in his when he suddenly stopped mid-way feeling different. His wolf, restless. A curious frown appeared on Jessica's forehead at his odd behaviour, "What's wrong Nathan?" She asked, reaching out to caress his jaw. Something felt odd, he could sense Kiara's presence which wasn't possible because it was only he and Jessica in the room. Or was it? The room was dim so it was a bit odd to see a shadow reflecting through the door and a brighter source of light reflected into his office from the opened door the shadow of a figure reflecting through it. The door was opened? He turned sharply, walking away from Jessica who was seated indecently on his desk to his door and was met with the last person that should see him in this position. Kiara. She looked lost and was frozen to her feet, her eyes lacking the vibrance they always carried. He could see brimming tears underneath her lids threatenin
Shit,' he cursed and ran after her. He called her consecutively but she didn't stop for his calls, she ran like her life depends on it, her hair bouncing in the air just like the time they ran in the forest."Please listen to me, Kiara, I am sorry." Her hands swapped at her face, perhaps erasing the tears falling on her face."I am truly sorry, please don't go ahead with it." She suddenly stopped on her feet and turned to face him, keeping her distance. Her face was overflown with tears, strands of hair smeared to her wet face. He attempted to come close to her but she yelled, "Stay away from me, don't come any closer and please answer these questions?""Jessica is the reason our relationship spiralled this past few days and your mother..." She paused, her voice shaky as the said the next part. "She was aware, right?" You can't have a stunted hybrid as the Luminous stone pack, Luna. It's a shame people are already talking, Nathan recalled his mother earlier talk with him Or how s
Jessica drew the door of the backseat open, Kiara's lifeless body falling out almost immediately as she was rested against the door to keep her steady during the bumpy ride. Taking a brief look at the bloodied mess her car was in, she patted herself one more time for using a polythene wrap to cover her seats and the surfaces of her car to prevent a mess such as this and suspicions that might grow from it. Dragging Nate's dead mate out of the car, she was slightly overwhelmed by how heavy Kiara weighed for such a petite woman. She held her tight in her arms while the rest of her body was drawn across the wet soil. Jessica stopped momentarily to rest, her arms aching before carrying on once more, she dragged Kiara by the shoulder till they reached the edge of their destination. A downhill, overgrown with bushes, perfect for hiding her body till she is found dead or maybe not. The fact remains no one comes here, it's beyond the pack border and close to a highway sidelined with tall t
Xander felt his knee crouch to the ground, the moon bright enough to illuminate to some extent the woman in front of him. He could hardly see what she looked like but her body was covered in blood and wet mud. Her long dark hair was wet with mud which smeared all over her face. His heart raced at the thought she was dead but who did this to her? Who went through the effort of seeing her die so painfully? What if she had a little life in her? He leaned closer to her unsure he should still be in the forest after seeing the bloodied body of a presumed dead woman. What if her death is linked to him? He can't have the police and Estoc men after him. That would be too much for him to handle alone and further investigation might reveal things about himself he would rather keep hidden. He stood to his feet and walked slightly away from the body. 'I should get going,' he thought to himself, walking towards his car. Estoc men can't find him now, he needs to leave. His hand reac
Xander couldn't bring himself to leave the hospital or to be specific, leave her alone. He hates the fact he feels obliged to a total stranger but he has a good reason, more especially when she has no one by her side to call her family. Changed into his former blood-stained free clothes, he walked towards the ward that houses the woman he rescued. Pushing the door open he is met with a rather disturbing sight. There was the lady he rescued, still unconscious and two men hovering over her with devious smiles on their faces, it didn't seem like they had sensed his presence. He recognized the doctor instantly but not the man beside him."Don't you think she would be of great interest?" The doctor asked, a sly look growing on his face. The other man with dark-blonde hair mix, drew closer to her, the lust in his eyes obvious, Xander felt sick to his stomach, "She looks human to me, more ethereal than any woman I have ever seen." He leaned towards her, taking her hair to sniff. The doctor
The rays escaping from little spaces through the curtains fell on his face. It was morning his groggy mind registered. Nathan flicked his eyes open and immediately familiarized with his surroundings. He was in his room his left hand in their normal ritual reached out to the other side of the bed to touch Kiara but oddly it was empty then it occurred to him why it was so.Guilt ripped him apart, it was all his fault this happened.Kiara has been missing for three days because of his actions. His messy feelings for Jessica misguided him and when he realized Jessica can never par with Kiara it was already too late.He threw the cover off his body feeling suddenly depressed, he can't give up on his search for her.He must find her.He walked into the bathroom to have a shower and repeat the routine he started two days back before any other thing read the reports for the search of Kiara. Desperation gnawed at him to know if there was any progress on her case. If she wasn't in the pack
Xander felt his feet press softly on the floorboard as he walked across the hall the last thing he wants was for her to wake up. Her, the hazel-eyed lady he brought to his cabin home a day back, the last time he checked up on her she was still asleep. It was worrisome because it has been a day since he took her away from the hospital, he hoped cutting her from her medications doesn't have any serious effect on her. He felt perplexed about her situation and could only hope she gets awake. His eyes scanned the dusty condition of his cabin home. It's been so long since he came here, memories flooded his head as a wave of nostalgia rushed through him. He missed Blake, his Aunt and Raven but he knew they are faring better and safe without him. If they were here with him, as usual, he would put them in danger. He walked gently to a dusty platform hooked to the wall, his index finger swapping at it, collecting a dusty film on his finger. Everything looks the same, just the way he
"I know you," her soft tired voice whispered before her lids closed finally but not to the dark abyss she always finds herself in she felt conscious but weak. She only closed her eyes because she felt weak to her bones and could not lift a finger to save her life if she was in any danger. Being practical, she was in danger. She was in an unknown location with a beautiful stranger. His soft brown eyes floated in her head with her eyes closed. She had no idea who he was or might be and why he is with her. She was supposed to feel cautious around him considering they share no familiarity whatsoever but she loved how she was temporarily gathered in his arms. His presence basking her in comfort, she felt weirdly secure with someone she is supposed to be wary of. Warm big hands fondled her cheeks as if trying to wake her up. She flicked her lids open but they only ended up half-lidded and tried to close back once more. She is met with his familiar eyes, they stared down at her with co
