Chapter 16

Ethan POV

I did not know how long I stood there after leaving the healer’s wing, because everything felt slow and heavy, like time itself was dragging while my thoughts kept racing faster and faster in my head.

“She lost the baby.”

I could still hear it so clearly, like the words had been carved into my mind and refused to leave no matter how much I tried to ignore them.

I let out a sharp breath and muttered, “No… no, that cannot be it.”

But even as I said it, I knew I was lying to myself.

Ethan POVI did not know how long I stood there after leaving the healer’s wing, because everything felt slow and heavy, like time itself was dragging while my thoughts kept racing faster and faster in my head.“She lost the baby.”I could still hear it so clearly, like the words had been carved into my mind and refused to leave no matter how much I tried to ignore them.I let out a sharp breath and muttered, “No… no, that cannot be it.”But even as I said it, I knew I was lying to myself.Because I remembered everything. Her voice. Her expression. The way she held her stomach.“Ethan… please…”I closed my eyes tightly and pressed my fingers against my temple, trying to push the memory away.“Why did you not say anything?” I whispered under my breath, even though there was no one there to answer me.And then the truth came immediately.“She did say something,” I said, my voice rough now. “You just did not listen.”I exhaled shakily and forced myself to move, my feet carrying me down t

Ethan POVI did not even remember leaving the healer’s wing, because one second I was standing there listening to words that should have made sense a long time ago, and the next I was already outside, walking without direction like my body was moving on its own while my mind stayed stuck in that room.“She was pregnant, she was really pregnant.”The words would not stop repeating in my head, over and over again, louder each time, like something inside me was forcing me to finally hear what I had refused to listen to before.“…she was telling the truth.”I let out a sharp breath and stopped walking abruptly, pressing my hand hard against my forehead as everything started to feel heavy in a way I could not explain, like my chest was tightening but I still could not understand why.“No,” I muttered under my breath, shaking my head slightly like I could shake the thought away. “No, there has to be more.”Because knowing that she was pregnant was not enough. It did not explain everything.

Ethan POVI did not sleep at all that night, and it was not because I was not tired, but because every time I closed my eyes, the same thing kept replaying in my head like something I could not escape from no matter how hard I tried. She waited.I could still hear the guard’s voice, calm and steady, like he had simply stated a fact that everyone already understood except me.“She waited… for you.”I sat up abruptly, running a hand through my hair as frustration and something heavier twisted in my chest.“This is stupid,” I muttered under my breath, my voice sounding rough in the quiet room. “She chose to leave.”But even as I said the words out loud, they did not feel convincing anymore.Instead, they sounded hollow.I exhaled sharply and stood up, pacing the room as if movement would somehow clear my thoughts.“She always overreacts,” I said again, louder this time, almost like I needed to hear it. “That is what she does.”But my steps slowed.Because something about this situation d

  • The Luna He Didn’t Choose    Chapter 13

Ethan POV“Where the fuck is she?”My voice came out sharper than I expected the moment I reached the front gates, and both guards immediately straightened as if they had been waiting for this exact moment.“Alpha,” the younger one said quickly, lowering his head, “is something wrong?”I took a step closer, my patience already gone. “Don’t waste my time. Where is Bella?”There was a pause, and that pause alone made something in my chest tighten. The older guard finally spoke, his voice calm but distant in a way I didn’t like.“She left, Alpha.”I stared at him. “What do you mean she left?”“She left the territory,” he repeated. The words didn’t sit right in my head.“No,” I said immediately, shaking my head. “That’s not what I asked. Where is she?”“We don’t know,” the younger guard answered, his voice slightly unsteady. “She didn’t say.”My jaw clenched. “You don’t know?”There was another pause, and I felt my irritation rising fast.“You’re telling me the Luna walked out of the pack

  • The Luna He Didn’t Choose    Chapter 12

Bella POVThe moment the car crossed the border of the pack territory, I felt something inside me finally go quiet. Not better. Not healed.Just… quiet.I sat by the window, watching the familiar trees slowly disappear behind me, my fingers resting loosely in my lap. For a second, I almost expected myself to feel something dramatic, like heartbreak or regret or the urge to tell the driver to turn around. But nothing came.I was just tired.“Miss… are you okay?” the driver asked gently, glancing at me through the rearview mirror.I blinked slowly and looked up. “I’m fine.”He didn’t look convinced.“You’ve been very quiet,” he said. “It’s a long ride, you know. If you need to stop or rest—”“I said I’m fine,” I repeated, a little softer this time.He nodded and didn’t push further.I turned my gaze back to the window. The rain had stopped, but the sky was still gray, and everything outside looked dull and distant, like I wasn’t really part of it anymore.Without thinking, my hand moved

  • The Luna He Didn’t Choose    Chapter 11

Ethan POVBy the time I got home, it was already late, and the night air felt colder than usual as I pushed open the front door and stepped inside the house.I expected the usual quiet, but the moment I walked in, something felt off in a way I couldn’t immediately explain. The house was silent, not just peaceful, but empty, like no one had been there for hours.I closed the door behind me and stood there for a second, letting my eyes adjust to the dim lighting.“Bella,” I called out, my voice calm and casual. There was no response.I frowned slightly, though I wasn’t worried yet, because she was probably in her room or somewhere in the house ignoring me on purpose after everything that had happened between us.I loosened my jacket as I walked further inside, my footsteps echoing faintly against the floor in a way that felt louder than usual.“Bella,” I called again, a little louder this time.Still nothing.I let out a quiet breath and shook my head, already assuming she was just bein

Bella POVThe suitcase felt heavier than it should have as I walked down the quiet stone path that led away from the house, but I knew the weight wasn’t really coming from the clothes and books packed inside it; the heaviness came from everything I was leaving behind, everything that had once been

Ethan POVThe envelope arrived in the late afternoon while I was sitting in my office at the pack house, and at the time I barely even looked up from the stack of reports spread across my desk because the entire day had already been filled with endless pack matters that demanded my attention, from

  • The Luna He Didn’t Choose    Chapter 8

Bella POVThe sky was gray the morning I left the hospital. It had been raining since the night before, and the drizzle still hadn’t stopped. The rain was soft and quiet, like the world itself didn’t want to make too much noise.I stood in the small cemetery behind the hospital, holding a tiny wood

  • The Luna He Didn’t Choose    Chapter 7

Bella POVWhen I woke up, the first thing I noticed was the smell.Hospitals always had the same strange smell, a mix of medicine, antiseptic, and something cold that made the air feel lifeless. It was the kind of smell that made you feel like nothing warm or happy could exist in a place like this.
