ВойтиNo part of me wanted to come to the Silver Moon Pack today, but I knew I needed to in order for us to discuss any issues they were having that I could possibly help out with. With the current alpha planning on stepping down soon, me being the Head Alpha meant I needed to lend my support anywhere they needed it.
Alpha David was not a bad alpha by any means, but he was worried about stepping down and letting his oldest daughter's mate take over. I couldn’t blame him though. I had met Olive’s mate, Stephen, earlier and immediately got a bad vibe from him. Unfortunately, Alpha David didn’t have any sons so his only option was Stephen since his other two daughters were either too young or hadn’t found their mate yet.
I could tell Alpha David was hoping his middle daughter, Gretchen, would be my mate but thankfully the Goddess was still looking out for me even though at twenty-five, I had yet to meet the one woman made for me.
Storm, my wolf, whimpered in my head, upset over the fact we hadn’t met her yet.
“Trust me Storm, I can’t wait to meet her either.”
I was in the packhouse's formal dining room surrounded by the Alphas family along with their Beta and Gammas families just having small talk until dinner began. After dinner, I planned on approaching David right away to get this meeting along so I could return home as soon as possible.
I was trying my best to listen to Alpha David and Beta Silas tell me a story when I felt a shiver run up the length of my spine followed by a strong presence. I turned and looked down, only to meet the most stunning ice blue eyes I had ever seen. I was mesmerized, the rest of the room fading away into nothing as I drowned in a sea of crystal ice.
I scanned the rest of her face, feeling my breath hitch as I took her all in. Her hair was the color of night; long and silky smooth with the same colored lashes surrounding those eyes I couldn’t look away from. She was beautiful with her heart shaped face, full lips, high cheekbones, and creamy skin.
The sound of Alpha David clearing his throat broke us from our trance. He probably thought the omega was bothering me when the truth was, I couldn’t stop myself from staring. I heard her soft voice ask me if I wanted the champagne and I took it but not before lightly grazing my hand against hers. My breath got caught in my throat when I felt light tingles spread across my hand. She tensed like she felt it as well before turning on her heels and quickly walking back to the door she came through.
“Storm, is she our mate?” I asked my wolf.
“I don’t know,” he replied sadly. “I didn’t sense a wolf in her.”
My shoulders sagged at the realization. The girl looked to be around eighteen years old and if she didn’t have a wolf yet, she probably would remain wolfless for the rest of her life. Plus, I was a very strong alpha so the chances of me being paired up with an omega were slim to none. But no matter how much I tried to tell myself she wasn’t mine, I couldn’t stop thinking about her and picturing her blue eyes every time I closed mine.
“Sorry about that Alpha Xander, Ray is one of our more awkward omegas considering she doesn’t have a wolf.” said David.
“Has she never had a wolf or did something happen to it?” I asked, wanting to know more about the omega he just called Ray.
“As far as we know, she’s never had one. She came here about ten years ago without any parents stating they were killed in a rogue attack and she had nowhere else to go. We planned to just take her in until her wolf surfaced but it never did so we just let her stay here. She’s been working in the pack house ever since.”
I nodded my head, not wanting to ask any more about her and give anyone the idea that I was interested in her. Dinner started shortly after and to my disappointment, Ray didn’t make another appearance the remainder of the night.
Storm was also upset from not seeing her and I knew I couldn’t just leave this territory without knowing more about her. Instead of hopping into discussions after dinner like I had originally planned, I asked for us to meet tomorrow morning, stating that having the whole day for discussions was necessary. Alpha David was kind enough to give a room to myself and the group of warriors I brought with me.
Of course, he had Gretchen show us to our rooms. The female wasn’t bad looking with her strawberry blonde hair and green eyes, but ever since seeing Ray, I was having a hard time finding any female attractive.
“Here is your room Alpha. My room is just on the next floor if you need anything.” purred Gretchen in a soft voice I’m sure she was using to try to seduce me. Being the Head Alpha, I’d heard that tone of voice one too many times.
“Thank you. I will just retire for the night then.”
I opened the door without another look at her and walked into the room assigned to me. She was still standing by the opening when I shut the door in her face. I had no interest in her and even if I was willing to take a chosen mate, she would never be an option.
I walked further into the room assigned to me and threw my duffle on a chair in the sitting area. The room itself was plain but would work for the one night I agreed to stay. I decided to take a shower to help relax myself since I was feeling so tense about staying overnight in another pack while being so far away from my own.
I knew my Beta could handle anything if something were to come up but it still didn’t stop myself from craving the peace and serenity that being in my own pack brought me.
After my shower I retired to bed but no matter how hard I tried to close my eyes and fall asleep, I couldn’t. Storm and I both were feeling restless so I put sweatpants on and made my way downstairs to go outside.
As soon as I stepped foot out in the open air, I felt better. The scent of the forest mixed with the light rain coming down eased the tension from my shoulders. No longer did I feel trapped and claustrophobic in that room. I ran to the forest line before stripping my clothes and let Storm take over into his wolf form.
We were running in the forest when I suddenly caught a whiff of the most amazing scent I had ever smelled. It reminded me of the forest after a fresh rain mixed with just a hint of honey, calling to my soul in a way nothing ever had before. I found myself salivating over it and Storm immediately started heading in the direction the scent was coming from.
“I think I smell our mate.”
I wasn’t sure I was breathing. My heart was pounding in my chest at Braxton’s words. The tears that wanted to form in my eyes were held back with the greatest restraint. Now wasn’t the time to behave like a teenage girl.I needed to stand tall and regal like the queen I was, despite wanting nothing more than to sob into my mates chest while he held me.Later. I could fall apart later.I still was at a loss for words. Rogues, who have been treated horribly for only the Goddess knows how long, want to fight. For me. After I have handed them freedom on a silver platter.I opened my mouth. Then closed it. Opened it again.I probably looked like a fish out of water.I honestly didn’t know how I felt right now. A mix of disbelief, pride, fear, gratitude. My head was a whole mess of emotions but I couldn’t worry about that right now. I was in a room full of alpha’s and I needed to remind them of why I was in charge here.I steadied my breathing, swallowed once, and said, “Thank you Braxton a
Here's a little cheat sheet for the packs.Alpha Merrick and Luna Gracelyn - Harvest Moon Alpha Zion (currently unmated but that may change soon;)) - Blue MoonAlpha Aydin and Luna Tessa - Waning MoonAlpha Kolter and Luna Kinsley - Waxing MoonAlpha David and Luna Christina - Silver Moon.........................................................“So,” she continued, her tone lighter, “with that being said, Blood Moon pack will not be a part of this war and I will be keeping a close eye on them.”“What about the weapons?” asked Merrick.“The warehouse where they were stored is nothing but ash now,” I explained. “Raina burned it to the ground along with everything in it.”I still remember the lightning strike that hit the warehouse and set it alight, the flames spreading like wildfire, all the ammunition igniting in little pops in the otherwise silent night. Every single girl who had been held there watched with tears in their eyes as their worst nightmare became nothing but cinders in
With Raina’s mind a little less chaotic, I led her over to stand at the head of the table. The other alphas would be here any minute, my warriors at the borders informing me of their arrival in the pack already. Everyone was on time and every single one of them showed up.Hayden and one of the men he gathered walked in first, the former bowing his head to Raina and me immediately. The man beside him was wide eyed, but looked at my mate with respect and gratitude. He walked up to us slowly, bowing his head as he said, “My queen. Hayden has told me everything about your role in rescuing our families and then sending him to find us. You have my support and loyalty.”A soft smile curled at her lips as she said, “What is your name?”His eyes were still cast down as he replied, “Braxton, your majesty. My mate is Helena.”“Ah.” Raina’s eyes lit with recognition. “Your mate is a lovely woman. She has told me a lot about you. I’m happy to finally get to meet you face to face.”He finally looke
It was the morning of the meeting with the other alphas and my stomach was in knots.Don’t ask me why I was so nervous because I couldn’t give you a straight answer. There were so many thoughts running through my head. What if someone pulled out and left us high and dry? What if they decided the risks weren’t worth it? I’d be devastated but ultimately, respect their decision.I may be a queen but I was no dictator.I didn’t feel very queen-like as I paced back and forth in the council room. My brain was running a million miles a minute. I barely slept last night despite Xander’s attempt to exhaust me.I thoroughly enjoyed his efforts and my body was tired. But my mind? Wide awake like it chugged espresso.I can’t tell you how many times I contemplated ripping my own head off last night just to get an hour of sleep but I couldn’t lead a war headless so here I was, suffering for the greater good.I’d been through worse.Weather was no better. She’s been pacing in my head since last nigh
I was so damn happy Hayden was back but at the same time, I wanted to ring his neck for taking so long. With each day that passed and he didn’t show up, I grew more and more worried, afraid something had happened to him. I checked in with his mate at least twice a day. Her assurances that he was still alive and not in any pain were the only things that kept me from going mad.Xander had the warrior at the border tell Hayden and the men with him to head to the rogue camp where all their loved ones were. I ended practice early and the two of us sped over to greet them. The place was in utter chaos when we arrived but in the best way possible.Cries of joy could be heard from every corner of the camp as families were reunited. Mates embraced, holding on to each other so tight like they never wanted to let go. Fathers hugged their children and apologized for being gone so long. The ones whose mates or family members died during the attacks watched on with watery smiles. Tears streamed do
It’s been a week since we snuck into Blood Moon pack and rescued the women from the cells Ezra kept them in so he could sell them on the black market. It was a very long week of getting a hold of their families and making sure they made it home. Some didn’t have loved ones waiting for them so we gave them a place in the pack. The ones who stayed with us were doing well. Raina, Victoria, and Madeline made sure they felt comfortable and got them set up with a therapist to work through any trauma. A lot of them decided to join in the training, wanting to be able to defend themselves in case something like that ever happened to them again. It would take a while but they would slowly heal and come out of their shells. They stayed away from the men but have warmed up to my mate. She spent most of her days either training, hanging out with the new rescues, or with the rogues. We still haven’t heard from Hayden and I could tell it was weighing heavily on Raina. His mate assured her he was sti
