MENODORA'S POV

I stand at the edge of his offer, my toes curling over the precipice. I am holding my breath and contemplating if I dare to take the plunge even though every instinct in my body screams at me not to trust him.

“After everything I have been through, it makes sense to not want to rely on anyone, right?” I reason.

“But then…he could have killed me but he didn't, he could have left me to bleed out, but he didn't,” my inner turmoil is getting louder.

"Even now, he's still here, choosi

  • The Luna's Blood Moon: She Refused To Bow   CHAPTER 11: CHOICES MADE IN BLOOD

MENODORA’S POVA scream pulls me back to reality. The last hunter, the one who managed to break through his defense is now dead. The silence that follows is almost as immediate as the fight that just ensued. So does the physical crash that comes right after. Every gasp I take in feels like I'm waging a war against my own body, my lungs burn as they expand against the constriction of my strained chest muscles.A gritty and heavy sensation weighs down on my eyelids and when I try to look closer at him, standing there and breathing hard, blood splattered across his skin, it's almost impossible to focus. I feel a slow throbbing behind my eyes, the first crack of the sun behind the clouds, too bright for my eyes to handle. But at least, we're still both alive and that's all that truly mattered…not the wounds, not this throbbing behind my eyes, not the strong scent of blood filling the air.The ground seems to rush up to meet me as my legs surrender…no longer having the strength to fight

  • The Luna's Blood Moon: She Refused To Bow   CHAPTER 10: HUNTERS PROWLING

MENODORA'S POV My stomach churns and I resist the urge to retch my innards. “No, no running," he replies, his hands pulling me back slightly. “We are going to stay and we are going to fight them off." “Fight?! All these hunters?!” my brain screams, the first wave of a crash out washing over me. He sure made it so easy, especially seeing how I am almost a useless liability to him.“You know I can barely stand…how am I supposed to…”"You're not alone right now, are you?" He cuts in, voice sharp with impatience, probably sharper than he intends.“I am here with you, you're not dying on my watch," he continues, his voice softer now.I don't have enough time to process the implications of his words or how it made me feel truly seen for the first time before they step out of the trees. A quick scan and headcount indicates four of them, all armed to the teeth. They ignore him by my side, their attention zeroing in on me."It's her, there she is,” one of them, maybe the leader, says. His v

His grip on me loosens slightly, his hands anchoring me, instead of trying to control me.“A brilliant choice you have made there." Another howl, closer and harsher than the previous one, tears through the night. His eyes scan the trees, probably calculating our chances of survival if we decide to make a dash for it."Are you fit enough to run?” He asks, his g

MENODORA'S POV“I don't need your…” the words die on my tongue as a wave of dizziness wash over me. The trees above me tilt, turning on a sudden and unseen axis. The earth beneath me seems to become liquid, rising to meet me and my head is filled with the sudden roar of the rush of a receding tide.I try to blink but the fog over my vision still remains and before I can stop myself, my body sways. “Damn it" I mutter under my breath and brace myself for the impact of my side hitting the ground, but it never comes.Suddenly, he is by my side, his presence too close for me. One of his hands reaches out to grip my arms, steadying me before my body hits the earth. The contact is sudden and unexpected, sending a wave of shock through me. Beneath the initial shock of his unexpected gesture is an underlying current of something I don't yet understand.Forcefully, I ripped my arm out of his grasp like he had just passed my fingers through a burning furnace.“Do not touch me" I hiss, my words

MENODORA’S POVMy foot catches in the loose root tendrils of a fallen tree and I fall flat on my face.“No…no…no,” panic takes a hold of me. I can't let them take me away, I just can't. With the last ounce of strength I have left, I claw my way blindly through the root tendrils until it is no longer wrapped around my foot.Once my feet are free, I crawl my way to the border, too weak to stand on my feet that now feel like jelly beneath me. The minute I cross to the other side, the pressure that is pressed against the back of my skull immediately vanishes, the bond that tethered me to the pack shatters with a visible shudder travelling through my body. The howls behind me come to an abrupt stop, a heavy hush falling over the night. My body gives out and I hit the ground in a hard thud, my breath escaping my lips in a sharp knife like gasp. The power and burst of adrenaline that carried me this far flickers weakly, everything feels too much in that moment, my body aching and burning up

MENODORA'S POV“No… that's impossible,” one of the council members says, but right before their very eyes, it is already happening. The first sight that catches my attention is the sight of my fingers, because extending from where my nails should be are now lethal-looking claws, long and sleek.“Beautiful…so beautiful” I think, turning my paws to admire them. My fur is stark white, almost silver under the glint of the moon. My senses are now almost four times the regular intensity for an average wolf, the sound of every heartbeat comes to me with clarity, so does the smell of the flicker of fear…it's almost too much for me, all at once.“Stop her! You can't let her shift!” The Alpha roars, rage pouring from him in waves, his voice a deafening inhuman cry shattering the silence of the night. It is too late to stop though, the change in me is happening even faster than I can control. My head jolts backwards, reeled in by an invisible violent force of the moon, my eyes…silver and red… bu
