Violetta's POV

The guards covered her as she walked away.

“What did she say to you?”

I heard the healer behind me. I turned sharply, surprised she'd been there.

“She wants me to come to her chambers tomorrow before the full moon.”

“To do what?”

“She wants me to take Nolan back.”

“That sorry excuse of an Alpha. You'd rather be alive and eaten by vultures than accept that bastard.”

She was right. After all I'd done to please him, after waiting for him for so many months, what did I receive in return?

A false accusation with no room for a defendant's voice. He didn't even want to hear the good news I'd waited so long to tell him.

And then my baby…

I closed my eyes, trying to drive the thoughts back to where they'd crawled out from. I would never marry Nolan. Never.

I helped the healer tidy up and wash her bowls in his mini kitchen.
